Thanks again... Ronby ron - Café LA Digi Beta ??? - 16 years agoI know this is off the subject of Final Cut Pro... but can anyone give me some advice? I am thinking of buying a used Sony DVW-A500 Digi Beta Deck to use in my system. (Instead of renting when I need one) It has low hours and a decent price. But.... What is the current thinking about the future of Digi Beta? Is it going to be around much longer? Thanks in advance for anyone's help.by ron - Café LA Re: 8 bit versus 10 bit - 16 years agoMarco... Thanks for your response. I am in fact just using SD. Footage was shot HiRez but downconverted to standard DigiBeta for me to cut with. So is that 8 bit or 10 bit material? OSX 10.4.9, FCP 5.1.4 amd Quicktime 7.1.5 When I try capturing video in 10 bit uncompressed onto my empty new SATA drives, the video stutters and freezes during capture and playback. Switched to 8 bit uncompressed and everything is fine. Am I expecting too much? Should I be able to capture in 10 bit? Anby ron - Café LA Re: Cursor problems in Final Cut - 16 years agoGentlemen... I am pleased to tell you that I have fixed the cursor problem. I went in and threw away ALL of the Kensington drivers and files I could find. Now it works normally. I guess it's getting it's mouse driver info just from the standard OX 10 files. Whatever! Thank you for your help and consideration. Ronby ron - Café LA Re: Cursor problems in Final Cut - 16 years agoDerekmok... Thanks for the suggestions. However I have definitely checked the mouse buttons and they are set for single click. Also....I've tried another track ball as well as the original Mac mouse that came with the G5. Same problem. Ronby ron - Café LA Re: Cursor problems in Final Cut - 16 years agoThank you John and Nick...for your suggestions. However....neither of them worked. The only thing I've noticed that might be a clue is that if I go into the Mac System Preferences and select "keyboard and mouse"....and if I adjust the mouse "double click speed" to the fastest setting...it will improve the cursor problem...but not totally eliminate it. I am using a Dual 2 GHz Power PC G5 with OSX version 10.3.9. and a AJA I/O. It has been running just fine. Yesterday I decided to upgrade my Quick Time to version 7.1.3 After downloading and installling... Final Cut Pro went nuts. Timeline would not play. The original DV Cam format utilized a compression that was about 5 to 1. Are the new HD DVCams using compression? Or are they infact recording full High Def to the same DV cam tape stock. And if so...how come DV cams can't be made to record regular Standard Def? Thanks,by ron - Café LA Re: Rendering Resolution - 18 years agoShane... Thanks for the quick response. I am however referring to the external monitor (as well as the computer). It's a brand new 19" Sony Hi Rez NTSC Broadcast Monitor. And by the way...I'm using an AJA uncompressed interface. Also....there are no overlays on and no green bars at the top of the timeline. Any other thoughts? Thanks Ronby ron - Café LA Rendering Resolution - 18 years agoI have a G5 2 gig Dual processor MAC. I'm running FCP 4.5 I've noticed -particularly with font - that the image appears very sharp on the computer screen and on the monitor BEFORE it is rendered. Once rendered...it becomes slightly soft.
