Re: AVC-Intra on FCP 6.0.6 Question - 13 years agoThanks, Shane! The file structure I have doesn't look like what you have for AVC-Intra in the tutorial. Looks like he used P2CMS Management at some point, as the .db I referenced in the original post is named P2CMS_MANAGEMENT.db. I figure this will be a lot easier if I use visual aids... The first photo link is the the folder I copied from the hard drive provided by my producer that'sby debe - Café LA Re: AVC-Intra on FCP 6.0.6 Question - 13 years ago"I don't have to go get each one." Now there's an incomplete thought. What I meant was "I shouldn't think I should have to go get them one at a time" Or something along those lines.... Thanks again! debby debe - Café LA AVC-Intra on FCP 6.0.6 Question - 13 years agoHello, everybody! I had a client drop off some footage to test workflow yesterday. I'm coming up against a couple questions & I was hoping y'all could offer up some thoughts! The footage is AVC-Intra that was shot to P2 cards.. The client didn't know the model of the camera, but can find out. I am running FCP 6.0.6 on OS X 10.5.8 & QT 7.6.9 on a Core2 Duo Macbook Pro. (I do haveby debe - Café LA Re: Converting .mov to .wmv for Power Point - 13 years agoIs there a client, and did said client specifically ask for a .wmv? and/or do you know which version of PPT that will be used? I'm asking because .wmv has been supplanted by H.264 in the most recent version of PPT (if not the previous, as well) If that's what the client wants/needs, of course give them that. But I have stopped supplying most if not all of my PPT clients with .wmvs. Most havby debe - Café LA Re: OT: "I The Pro Res Maker" - 13 years agoKevin, You better bring the noise, AND da funk... ..and make it extra loud so we can here you waaaaay over here.... debby debe - Café LA Re: Buying advice: Mac Pro w/ one 3.33GHz 6-core or Mac Pro w/ two 2.4GHz quad-core? - 13 years agoHola, Mike! We picked up a Sony Bravia yesterday. Chris did his research. Ask him about it!by debe - Café LA Re: Audio Sync Question - 13 years agoIs this tutorial about the effect you're talking about? It's from 2007, so it doesn't deal with shooting DSLR, but the basic theory remains the same. debeby debe - Café LA Re: Connect Sony J30 to Mac - 13 years agoYou may have to switch the J30 to iLink for control. I can check my own deck later, if you need me to. debby debe - Café LA Re: New Camera - 14 years agoMy G5 is PCIx. The eSATA card is a Sonnet Tempo SATA X4P (TSATAII-X4P) (I typed that right off the invoice...) I bought it in 2007 right after MacWorld on advice from the Sonnet rep on the showfloor. He did tell me then that PCIx was going to be harder to come by soon after that. debby debe - Café LA Re: changing non-drop frame to drop frame? - 14 years agoShoot. You're of course absolutely right, Andrew. That's what I get for reading too fast! debby debe - Café LA Re: Another 29.97-23.98 Question - 14 years agoI opened all my clips at once and it processed in one go, and I had waaay more than 8 clips. I'm not sure how they are using the term "Batch". Maybe up to 8 can process simultaneously, but I definitely had 20 or more files submitted in one action. debby debe - Café LA Re: Another 29.97-23.98 Question - 14 years agoBut of course you just made me über-paranoid and I just ran back to double-check!! Nope, the clips end where they're supposed to end. debby debe - Café LA Re: Another 29.97-23.98 Question - 14 years agoThat's interesting... I did not have any trouble with truncated ProRes clips, but I didn't have the CinemaTools step. debby debe - Café LA Re: changing non-drop frame to drop frame? - 14 years agoMake a new Sequence. Use an Easy Setup if you can. Make sure the new Sequence is set for drop frame. Load that into the Timeline. Then open up the "offending" Timeline, select all the clips (apple-a), then copy them (apple-c). Click on the tab in the Timeline for the new drop frame Sequence you created, and paste (apple-v) the clips into that Timeline. There's nothing magical abouby debe - Café LA Re: I erased LASTCLIP.txt - 14 years agoAndreas- You just saved my client's bacon!! He came to me this morning with quite a tale of woe, and the worry that he might lose his job over a mistake he thought he'd made. I followed your instructions here and recreated his LASTCLIP.TXT files and now I get a free lunch!! If I ever get the chance to meet you, I'll pay it forward!! debby debe - Café LA Re: error: out of memory - 15 years agoHow about your internal boot drive? How full is that? (although I'm leaning towards Derek's "Ginormous TIFF Files?) debeby debe - Café LA Re: error: out of memory - 15 years agoHow full are your drives? What are you using for media drives? debeby debe - Café LA Re: OT: "All Tapes Blank?" paranormal activity - 15 years agoThanks for the additional info, Vance. I'm one of the old-ish dogs. My career goes all the way back to mastering on 1". Hearing it in the analog days was certainly more common. Like you say, I'm not going to run out and test it, either. It's still nice to know, though!by debe - Café LA Re: OT: "All Tapes Blank?" paranormal activity - 15 years agoI love Mondays that are filled with geeky-goodness! Thanks for the schoolin', Graeme! debeby debe - Café LA Re: OT: "All Tapes Blank?" paranormal activity - 15 years agoI'm not arguing with you at all, Graeme. I'll believe pretty much near anything you tell me...but I do have to ask... So do you have any idea where this originated, then? Because darn near every "old school" editor and engineer I worked with at a TV station or in a full-blown post facility has always told me to never put tapes on top of monitors or on the old Wacom-style tablets, inby debe - Café LA Re: Canvas Playback Sticks - 15 years agoOn what kind of drive(s) are you storing the media? How is it/are they connected to the computer? Please give us the full specs of the system, including hardware, OS, FCP and QT versions. debeby debe - Café LA Re: De-Flicker Software - 15 years agoI'd try the Foundry's DeFlicker filter in their Furnace plug-in set for FCP. I can't post a link 'cos I'm on an ooooold PeeCee at a client's place and it's just way too much work to do that here. Google will help! debby debe - Café LA Re: FCP & SIGMA - 15 years agoI asked my source for you. He told me that to the best of his knowledge, there isn't a software solution for SIGMA encoding, confirming what we suspected. debby debe - Café LA Re: problem: effects unrender when switching applications - 15 years agoHmm. That's interesting, Tom. I've been using Spaces for months on a G5 tower and haven't experienced anything like that. Wonder if it's Intel vs. PowerPC or tower vs. laptop? debby debe - Café LA Re: FCS 6.0.3 users - Should we upgrade to QT 7.5? - 16 years agoI wish I had a photo of this: A older gentleman in my old neighborhood used to take his cat for a walk on a leash. He'd go a block or so, let the cat climb a tree. They'd stay there for awhile. Then he'd coax the cat down and move another block or so to another tree. All on the leash. debby debe - Café LA Re: FCP and Unity? - 16 years agoI've been freelancing at a facility that "partitioned" part of their Unity for their new FCP systems. They are still running two Avids on the Unity. (I don't know how...so please don't ask) The biggest PITA that I've found so far with this set up is every time I flip out of FCP to go to Photoshop or Motion or any other app, when I come back to FCP, it has lost contact with my renderby debe - Café LA Re: Can't Use Plugins - 16 years agoGlad it's working!! Having two Libraries is kinda confusing at times. It'll get ya with fonts at times, too. debby debe - Café LA Re: OT: Need BIG help with 3/4" JVC deck - 16 years agoCasey- Try calling Rick Dressler at Z-Systems in Minnetonka. If he's familiar with that deck, and it's something you CAN do on your own, he'd be the honest guy to tell you how up front. If he truly believes it's not a user-serviceable issue, he'll give you an honest estimate on what it would take to fix it. debby debe - Café LA Re: linking to templates stored on an external hard drive. - 16 years agohi, guys- I did this on my G4 laptop. In DVD Studio Pro>Preferences click on Destinations. Click on the drop-down and change that to Palette Elements. Hit the "Choose" button and navigate to the external drive for each both Stock and Custom libraries (even if you don't have anything custom...it's cleaner). Select those and then "OK"-button your way out of the Preferencesby debe - Café LA |
