FCP X Future - 11 years ago
Been away for some time. I hope everyone is ok. After providing training and editing on FCP X i can say that the tool promises to be a good NLE. Still it has a long way to reach the wonders of the 7. What is the future of the "X"? Since its long release more than a year ago, the actual version hasn't reached 1.1. Why is Apple keeping the "baby X" from growing and gettinby Rui Barros - Café LA - X

Hi, I'm planing to buy an shared storage solution for video, Editshare is one of the possible solutions however I don't have any knowledge of their hardware, except for we can read on the Editshare website. Does anyone works with Editshare. Is it good, better than Xsan and Promise, or not at all? Any others solutions that I should check? Thank youby Rui Barros - Café LA

I don't understand why do people still asks and fill a wish list for a software that does not care, in other words doesn't give a Shi.... to editors and those who make a living on editing. Thanks, The same to all of you. Sadly, we have lost two major icons from apple this past year of 2011. Steve was one, on which we can not change nature, someday in the far future we will meet him again. The other, Final Cut Studio, which was the stupidest move on the industry that someone can remember. That, nature still allows that a change can be made. Nope, I haven't tried Resolve yet. I do like Color and for the next couple of years will do the job. Color's EOL is just another $&$#"$()=?)=//%$%$! move from Apple. The european cathedrals were built with the same tools for centuries, now days we couldn't do the same with an ultra-advanced modern tool that no one understands in what it was built to do!!!!by Rui Barros - Café LA

You can solve the problem by using the Media Manager and consolidating the media. The resulting new project can be sent to color.by Rui Barros - Café LA

Hi, I've just finished the editing of a Concert recorded with 15 HD Cams on FCP 7. The editing process was easy, the director understode the workflow without any problems, FCP 7 only crashed twice during this week and the results are perfect. Briefly, what a working tool. Thank you for your help. In the moment i'm waiting for a confirmation from a reseller but this will be my last effort on this. Also the last time on Apple products. They are not building products for the costumers, they don't care about us or what we need. Thanks Craig, Shortly after posting this topic i did phone to USA, the same number above, and yes, Apple is still selling FCS... only to the United States. About the Volume License, the Apple Genius told me that is it not possible to upgrade a single license to a volume. The things we have to do to be legal, right now the licenses are urgently needed for the amount of work waiting to be doby Rui Barros - Café LA

Hi everybody, So Apple has put us in a hole with the release of Final Cut Pro X and killing FCS on the same day... I won't comment on that more than i have already done. My biggest problem right now is to find another licenses of FCS 3 for my network that was changing the current editing systems to FCS. Here it goes from Portuguese to English Final's Cut Pro internal files are a prof that Apple's is working in XML support. Has we have mentioned on articles here at this website (1, 2), Final Cut Pro has landed on it's version 1.0 with a series of flaws, mainly described by professional editors used to the FCP 7 environment. I was hopping to get some major improvements of a new realese after 2 years of FCP 7 like a decent text tool, timecode fields that we could read and some other features. Loosing Color is bad, ok we can live with it, but multicam, wich i have to use every week and output to tape has gone. Sure we can stick with 7 and 6 and 5 or jump to Avid.by Rui Barros - Café LA - X

No Multicam, no problem... Good bye FCP, Good bye Apple... All the Buzz for this kind of !@#@... Apple can still update FCP on the next week and give the pro functions that we need. Multicam is not an iphone where Apple can throw Flash, or in this case, the multicam feature and some more, out of the box. Hi Shane, The footage to capture will be HDCAM and some SD Digital Betacam. Importing, XDCAM, EX3, P2, etc... Analog, probably ,for archive footage. No major problems dealing with technical details. Hi. A serious Title Tool is crucial, with a window showing the video behind. This way we can place the titles directly in the place and choose the exact font and design. Timecode windows. FCP is in the Pro's Market and the Pro's need all the information in a clear and readble way. So FCP must have the option for us to choose wich size and fonts in the timecode windows, like Avid.
