FCPX For Broadcast - 12 years agoWho is using FCPX for broadcast TV? Just curious.by Eddietor - Café LA - X Broadcast Safe Filter - 14 years agoThe program is complete, it has been graded in Color, all clip levels are broadcast safe. One of the transitions (vapor across) and some of the FCP generated text is not. Is it wise to now create a nested sequence and apply the broadcast safe filter to the entire program, just to be safe? Will doing that drop all levels (mid tones, etc) or just flatten the "over-bright peaks"?by Eddietor - Café LA OT: Cyc wall / green screen - 14 years agoDoes anyone know a professional cyc wall installer in the LA area?by Eddietor - Café LA Re: carpel tunel and editing - 14 years agoHave you seen the carpel tunnel keyboard?by Eddietor - Café LA Re: cutting with 30fps(Cannon H.264) and 25fps(Z100) - 14 years agoAs a former photographer, I'm glad that my expensive Canon lens collection is now being put to use use on promos shot with the 5D. I use compressor to convert to Pro Res 422 @29.97fps. It's working great.by Eddietor - Café LA Re: 1920x1080i to DVD Need assistance - 14 years agoDVD best quality in Compressor should work.by Eddietor - Café LA Re: changing non-drop frame to drop frame? - 14 years agook, I copy/pasted the clips into a new sequence with a 29.97 drop frame setting and all is well. Thanks!by Eddietor - Café LA Re: changing non-drop frame to drop frame? - 14 years agoThanks, I'll give it a try. I understand the difference between the two, the issue is that the closed captioning company as well as the TV station requires drop frame and this project was begun with non-drop selected. Thanks again!by Eddietor - Café LA Re: changing non-drop frame to drop frame? - 14 years agoThanks, but the drop frame tick box is greyed out, it will not allow me to tick it. Any suggestions? Editing timebase is 23.98, not sure if that makes any difference.by Eddietor - Café LA changing non-drop frame to drop frame? - 14 years agoCan you change a non-drop frame sequence to drop frame? If so, how?by Eddietor - Café LA Directors Commentary - 14 years agoWhat is the best way to do a "directors commentary" audio track addition in DVDSP? Anyone with experience dong this? Thanksby Eddietor - DVD Studio Pro Re: fcp PRO trainer also teaching imovie? How does it look? - 14 years agoPay your bills! I shot weddings for a couple years, but you won't find that on my resume (unless I was trying to bid a Bridezilla series). Maybe your teaching can focus more on the aesthetics of editing rather than the program itself. Why do you start with an establishing shot, etc. I'd teach a class on Windows Moviemaker if it paid the bills.by Eddietor - Café LA Re: Final Cut Server / XSAN - 14 years ago$30,000, meaning all the hardware needed / fiber optic cables, ect?by Eddietor - Café LA Re: Final Cut Server / XSAN - 14 years agoThanks guys, here's our situation: We have one lead editor, one assistant editor and two After Effects artists, all in house, all working on the same program, often working on the same files. We need to swap files often. I edit a sequence, then I hand it over to my assistant for color correction, then he gives it to the AE artist for graphics, then it comes back for audio sweetening. Sometiby Eddietor - Café LA Final Cut Server / XSAN - 14 years agoWho's using Final Cut Server? Is it working for you? Do you love it? You need to purchase Xsan separately, correct? We're trying to make a decision here, any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!by Eddietor - Café LA 1080/720/SD - 14 years agoI'm about to edit a program for a client who didn't totally plan ahead and shot a few different types of formats for the same program. Three different cameras, three different frame sizes. I now have a project with an equal amount of 1080 and 720 HD footage, with some good ol' SD as well. I'm thinking of making the project 720. My reasoning being, I can resize the 1080, and even zoom in a bitby Eddietor - Café LA Re: Drop Frame/Non Drop issues recapturing media - 14 years agoDid you ever get this figured out? I'm seeing the same error message now....by Eddietor - Café LA Re: Internet site - 15 years agoThis is one of those questions that can be answered a whole lot of different ways. I use DV Kitchen.by Eddietor - Café LA Re: sorry boss your dog destroyed the project ive been working on for the last two days - 15 years ago"is $1K to $2K really worth the relatively small amount of lost time?" I guess it all depends on who's tour bus he is editing onby Eddietor - Café LA Re: sorry boss your dog destroyed the project ive been working on for the last two days - 15 years agoFirst, get a crate for the dog. Then call these guys: Drive Saversby Eddietor - Café LA Re: jumpy footage - 15 years agoSo, does the problem have to do with FCP importing 1080i/24P and not 1080/24P? See photo link: Exampleby Eddietor - Café LA Re: jumpy footage - 15 years agoI'm back, and it turns out I do have "remove duplicate frames" selected. Do I want that or no? Here's a screen shot of my hand waving (forgive the non-white balance): What's going on here?by Eddietor - Café LA Re: jumpy footage - 15 years agoMy choices are 24P and 24PA, I'm shooting at 24P. I do not think I have "remove duplicate frames" selected, but I will check....by Eddietor - Café LA jumpy footage - 15 years agoI just imported footage shot on the Panasonic HVX170, 1080i/24P. The footage is kinda jumpy. On the computer monitor you can see the interlacing and on the tv monitor it kind of leaves a "trail" once in a while, as if frames are missing or something. Is a setting off in the camera?by Eddietor - Café LA Re: .swf file in fcp? - 15 years agoI believe FCP works with Quicktime movies. Can you convert it to Quicktime?by Eddietor - Café LA Re: OT: Web hosting - 15 years agoOk, here's what I ended up with: Video hosting: Cachefly Videos converted to Quicktime H.264. Video compression software: DV Kitchen Thanks again to everyone who threw their two cents in, I'm really happy with the outcome.by Eddietor - Café LA |
