Rendering TIF image back to FCP as TIF, not Quicktime Movie - 12 years agoWhy is it that Apple Color will import, grade, and render 99% of TIFs back to FCP as graded TIFs except for a couple which are rendered as Quicktime movies? My basic workflow has been: Convert and replace all graphics/photos/stills to TIFs smaller than 4096x2304, RGB, 8bit in FCP. Bake and do all the other basic stuff for video. Send to Color. Render back to FCP from Color as ProResHQ 192by Danimal - Color Re: Just built new system - Having major problems. Please help! - 12 years agoTrying to narrow it down - can you play the file using quicktime? Using quicktime will it do a stop-start during playback? How are your hard drives configured? RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, etc? I'm assuming everything is up to date.by Danimal - Café LA Re: RAID 5? - 12 years agoThanks for the feedback. I'm hoping they give me the option to replace the enclosures since I've been going back and forth with them for over a month while they try to find out why their drives aren't working. If that's the case, I'd go with two of these (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/1394/USB/EliteAL/PerformanceRAID) and one of these (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Coby Danimal - Café LA Re: RAID 5? - 12 years agordedits Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > YEAH!!!!!! Can I open a Color project that was done in 1.5 with 1.0? I'm trying to save a grade from a color project that was done in 1.5 so that I can apply that grade to the same source clip using 1.0 (what we have) with the intent of adding more handles the the exported clip. When I open the 1.5 project in 1.0 everything is offby Danimal - Color Re: matching 60i to canon 5DmarkII - 13 years agoAs a side note, can't you switch between drop and non-drop in FCP without too much of a hassle? I always thought the source's timecode was non-drop and when you're seeing drop-frame it was just FCP, or any thing else showing drop-frame, accounting for 29.97 and what-not. Drop frame doesn't actually drop a physical frame from the file, it just skips two every minute in the timecode unless thby Danimal - Café LA Re: matching 60i to canon 5DmarkII - 13 years agoI mixed DVCPRO HD 1080i 59.94 with H264s from the Canon 5D which was recorded at 30p. I ran it through compressor to match the DVCPRO HD 1080i60 and everything has worked okay.by Danimal - Café LA Re: Print to Tape / Deck / Timecode - 13 years agoSorry for the delay. I got pulled to another job. Hopefully I'll get to try this before the days end. Thanks for the feedback.by Danimal - Café LA Print to Tape / Deck / Timecode - 13 years agoI'm trying to record some footage onto a tape that has previous footage on it. I want to get back to the first frame on the tape (head of the tape), but I can only get within a few seconds of it. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong or how to get back to the first frame? Is it reachable through the deck or final cut? Setup/Workflow: fcp (6.0.6) timeline to panasonic ajhd1400 via firewire. Our project was shot on a HDX900 at "24p" onto DVCPRO HD tape. After the shoot the footage was captured using the DVCPRO HD 1080i60 default preset in Final Cut Pro (6.0.6). Sequences were created using FCP's automatic "change sequence settings to match clip" which made our sequences 29.97. This is were I think mistakes were made. I was having a similar issue with FCP 6.0.6 and a CalDigit HDOne. Note: Haven't read the whole thread. Apologies if it's already been suggested or fixed.by Danimal - Café LA Re: DVCPRO HD (tape) workflow?... - 13 years agoThanks for all the feedback. I'll have a go with these suggestions and let you know what pans out.by Danimal - Café LA DVCPRO HD (tape) workflow?... - 13 years agoHi. I'm hoping someone here can shed some insight as to whether or not this workflow is legit. 1. Footage was shot at "30p" at 1080 on a HDX-900 to DVCPRO HD tape. If I understand this right the "30p" is really 29.97 over 59.94 - I kind of understand what this means, but not entirely. 2.
