Libraries Disappearing after restart - 5 years agoI've been teaching Final Cut since 2000. In the last 24 hours I've had two instances of students logging in after a restart and their library will be missing. It's nowhere to be found. Not in the movies folder or anywhere else. There are no backups in the backup folder for that particular project but will be backups for other projects. In addition other project libraries have not disappeared. Anyby Eric Rogers - Café LA Re: Black Frames - 13 years agoI thought I had responded to the questions above back in June but I don't see my response. Logan, what I found was that if I put them in their own sequence then sent them to Color, I didn't have the problem anymore. If all else fails, see if the fit to fill function in FCP fixes it. I had this problem once before but the frames were in the middle of the shot. In that instance, I found turningby Eric Rogers - Color Black Frames - 13 years agoI'm having trouble with rendered video from Color showing up with two black frames at the end of some of the shots. They don't show up when I play the video in Quicktime so it's like it's delivering the video back to Final Cut at a slightly increased frame rate. Any suggestions? That worked great.by Eric Rogers - The Bug Report ProRes 422 HQ showing up as a text file - 14 years agoHello, I just imported HDV footage using the HQ codec. It plays fine from my computer within FCP, but the files in the capture scratch show up as text files. When I try to re-import them into a new project, I get "error file unknown." I need to send these files to another editor and I'm afraid they won't import properly on her computer. Any idea why these are showing up as text filesby Eric Rogers - The Bug Report Re: Run Time - 15 years agoSo I guess this means that DVD Studio Pro does not currently have a function that gives total run time.by Eric Rogers - DVD Studio Pro Run Time - 15 years agoI'm sure this is a stupid question but can someone tell me how I can find out how much run time a DVD has if I have multiple short projects I'm burning to one disc? I have about 50 projects on one DVD that range from 20 seconds to 10 minutes and I can't figure out how to tell how long the entire runtime of all of them are without sticking them all in the same timeline.by Eric Rogers - DVD Studio Pro Re: No Image in Canvas - 16 years agoI figured out the problem. I'm using Motion in a high school filmmaking class. The computer came with a 20 inch cinema display. Being that it's a high school program I'm always scrounging around for extra parts, so I also added an old 17 inch apple display and a really old 15 inch monitor from a Dell computer just to keep my FCP browser on. Well I noticed that when I dragged the Motion canvas toby Eric Rogers - Motion Re: No Image in Canvas - 16 years agoAndy thanks for the help. Unfortunately neither trashing prefs nor reinstalling worked. I actually re-installed four different times. Whether I'm typing text, importing an image or video, all I get is a white background and a wire frame for the content. I'm not sure what to try next other than reinstalling the entire FC Studio again. If I get it figured out I'll post the solution for future refby Eric Rogers - Motion Re: No Image in Canvas - 16 years agoAndy, here's an image of what I'm getting: (You can click on it for a bigger image.) And here's an image of what the media properties say: When I made my first post I was thinking that I had never used Motion on this computer but later remembered that I have used it several times and it worked fine until a few days ago. It works fine on all of the computers except the the dual core. I can play video in the preview utility window but when I drag it to the projects pane or directly into the canvas, the video can not be seen. I imported the Mpeg2 video I've been using for DVD's back into the timeline and used the timecode filter, then re-exported. What I didn't realize is that I was losing six seconds when I imported the video back into Final Cut. The original Mpeg2 video is 1:39:16:05 in length. When I re-import it's 1:39:10:07. Anyone know how toby Eric Rogers - Café LA Titles - 18 years agoI've searched the archives and can't find the exact answer to what I'm looking for. I have end credit titles created in a photoshop file. They look fine when they aren't animated, but when I animate them for a crawl they sort of flicker. I tried importing them into Boris but it won't allow me to bring in a photoshop file. Any suggestions?by Eric Rogers - Café LA Re: Green Screen / Blue Screen - 18 years agoDuncan, make sure when you shoot it, that the subject is far enough in front of the green screen that none of the green light bounces onto their shoulders and hair. Also, if you use the "color key" filter you can use the dropper to select the exact color. If the screen was not lit well and one part is a darker shade than another, use the dropper to select the color. Is there an easy way to put the screener copy warning across the bottom, perhaps in DVD Studio Pro , or will I have to go in an periodically and just place it throughout the film?by Eric Rogers - Café LA Re: Filtering Camera Noise - 18 years agoI haven't completely solved the problem. I used the noise gate filter which makes it better but it doesn't sound as good as tc's version. I think I'll try that Sound Soap program based on what hd and tc have said about it. For $69 bucks it's worth a shot.by Eric Rogers - Café LA Re: Filtering Camera Noise - 18 years agoHD, Academic Superstore has Sound Soap 2 for 69.99. Will that work or will I need Sound Soap Pro (which is 399)?by Eric Rogers - Café LA Re: Filtering Camera Noise - 18 years agotc that sounds awesome. Looks like a pretty pricey plug-in though. $375 just to rent the license? Is that right? Koz with some serious work I might be able to make the noise gate filter work but so far it's making the vocals sound too hollow. I liked Sith a lot. I think it's definitely the best of the last three. I've tried several different audio filters but I can't nail down exactly what frequency the noise is and so far everything I've tried distorts the actor's voice too much. Is there some sort of meter plug in which would tell me what frequency the camera noise is? I'm using FCP 4.5.by Eric Rogers - Café LA Re: Labelling Tracks - 18 years agoYeah I actually tried that earlier too and realized that isn't possible either.by Eric Rogers - Café LA Labelling Tracks - 18 years agoIs there a way to change the track names? It's an indie feature and we have done that. I just thought maybe there was an easier way.by Eric Rogers - Café LA End Credit Template - 18 years agoDoes anyone know where I can find a template which tells me the proper order of ending credits?by Eric Rogers - Café LA Stutter Stepping Video - 18 years agoHere's a new problem I've never encountered before. Thought I'd share it and tell what fixed it in case anyone else has the same problem. I had three different clips which were repeating certain portions of the video as I played them in the timeline. If I played them in the viewer they worked fine. To fix the problem I chose "remove attributes" and removed the filters from the clip anby Eric Rogers - Café LA Re: Film Look? - 18 years agoHere's an interesting article I came across once:by Eric Rogers - Café LA Re: Quick Time Conversion To Small Movies? - 18 years agoWhat are you compressing it with? Try Sorenson 3. If it's still not small enough increase the rate of key frames. The defalut is one every 24 frames. Change it to one every 12 frames and see how that works for you.by Eric Rogers - Café LA Re: More Voice over issues... - 18 years agoI have the same problem. It's really sort of a useless feature. You get better sound by hooking up the mic to your camera with the camera attached through firewire and then doing a batch capture.by Eric Rogers - Café LA |
