Re: File error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown - 11 years agoThanks Derekby john - Café LA File error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown - 11 years agoHi all, I'm trying to bring a Quicktime movie into my final cut project and I'm getting the message "File error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown". My FCP project is uncompressed 10 bit SD and the file is DV. I can play the DV file in quicktime. It's possible that the file was exported from a different version of FCP / different OS. Any idea why I'm getting thby john - Café LA Re: Weirdness from an exported QT - 12 years agoThanks guys for all your help. Johnby john - Café LA Re: Weirdness from an exported QT - 12 years agoHi Jude, My original DV tapes were recorded in drop-frame 30 fps (29.97 fps). The conversion to uncompressed SD maintained this frame rate. The sequence in which I'm working is also 29.97 fps. The only thing that's off is the Sorenson Video which (when I click on the clip outside of Final Cut and open the inspector) says it was encoded at 28.71 FPS). I didn't set it to this frame rate so Iby john - Café LA Re: Weirdness from an exported QT - 12 years agoHi guys, I'm sorry to have not been clear. Thanks for bearing with me. I shot and cut the film in DV. At the request of my sound re-recordist I exported a Quicktime from the the original DV sequence using the Sorenson video compressor (don't know why he requested that format). He used that clip as the reference video to which he edited the audio. Part of the original sequence was archivby john - Café LA Re: Weirdness from an exported QT - 12 years agohi guys, thanks for the quick reply. The sequence settings are drop frame, Uncompressed 10 bit SD. I performed the operation "command 9" on the ciip and it gives me mostly sequence information. Is this what you wanted? I did export Quicktime from an originally DV clip. The compression used was Sorenson Video 3. When in the sequence it says its frame rate is 29.97 fps.by john - Café LA Weirdness from an exported QT - 12 years agoHi all, I'm checking my original sequence to make sure nothing has been changed from when I output my Quicktime that I gave to my sound re-recordist / mixer (I have placed the QT on top of the "original sequence" and applied a greyscale filter to the QT and cropped it so 1/2 of the screen is the QT and the other is the original sequence) I'm noticing that the QT I exported seems toby john - Café LA Re: Frame rate conversion and reverse pulldown. - 12 years agoThanks Nick - fantastic work-aroundby john - Café LA Re: Frame rate conversion and reverse pulldown. - 12 years agoOk final question, I went into cinema tools and did a "reverse telecine" which gives me a frame sequence of 1,2,3,4,4, So all I need to know now is if there is a "cut automation" function in FCP 7. (i.e. can I ask FCP to cut out ever 5th frame)? I don't believe the Natress filters will work based on Graeme's kind response above. thanks guys.by john - Café LA Re: Frame rate conversion and reverse pulldown. - 12 years agoOops I just realized that there is a sort of "pull-down" (is that the right word) of 1 duplicate frame after 1 original frame and then another duplicate frame after 2 more original frames. I guess that's what keeps every thing at 30 fps? I would like to remove the pulldown for use in a speed adjusted sequence and I'm wondering if you can recommend software to do this. I've tried Cineby john - Café LA Re: Frame rate conversion and reverse pulldown. - 12 years agothanks Nick, Do you know how the software slows down / speeds up the speed (frame interpolation or duplicating certain frames)? thanksby john - Café LA Frame rate conversion and reverse pulldown. - 12 years agoHi all, I have some old 8mm film footage that was scanned at SD 4:2:2. The original footage was 18 fps (I believe). When I received the footage it plays at 29.97 fps (speeding up the footage dramatically). This footage will play in a sequence that is 29.97 fps. The project was shot in DV and archival footage was captured at 10 bit uncompressed SD. What is the best way to handle the output? Should I uprez the DV footage to 10 bit SD then put the clips in a 10 bit SD timeline with the archival footage? So now I'm looking for a monitor and understand that the MXO was optimized for the old 1920 x 1200 Mac monitor. I found the quicktime using the method above but I need the original final cut pro file so I can export a high-res version and unfortunately I don't know if the date I output my quicktime is the same as the last time I modified the fcp file Do you have any suggestions for how I can find the original fcp file? many thanks, johnby john - Café LA help finding an old file - 14 years agoHi All, I can't find an old FCP file that contains a trailer I require. I know that I made a low-res quicktime of the trailer on August 31, 2008. Does anyone know of a way I can search all my old files that were modified on or around that date? thanks, Johnby john - Café LA Sound Problem capturing DV footage - 14 years agoHi All, I'm having a problem capturing DV footage. I'm using "capture now" to input an entire DV tape. When I review the footage the picture is ahead of the sound by approximately 33 frames. Note the sound is not drifting, it is consistently 33 frames behind of the picture. Any ideas? I want to make sure I do this right so I'd like to find a way to check the sequence for all speed adjusted clips and redo the effect (long story). I'd also like to find a quick way to show the properties & source location of all my media (so that I'm certain it's connected to the original files). It's also cropped midway through the image (strangely now FCP is not allowing me to change the cropping). It was in media mgr. When I up-resed the image I asked it to preserve the aspect ratio from DV and that seems to have caused the weirdness on screen. The only issue now is in the clips with speed effects. I'd take your advice above except some of the speed effects are very complex. Is there a way to copy the speed changes from the old sequence? One more question; My sequence works fine in FCP 6 as long as I use the original DV footage.
