Audio linked but unconnected from video in timeline - 13 years agoWhat is going on? They will not move together on the timeline. Yes, the video and audio clip icons do have the underline "link" on. And I've unlinked and linked a number of times already to try to get them to link. This started in FCP on my last project - not sure why. Just push it back out as one DV signal say. So har would those 9 streams come into the Mac? Through ethernet (an IP) ? thank you everyone.by Logan6 - Café LA Multi Cam feed - 14 years agoCan FCP 6.0 take nine multi-camera feeds? How? through firewire? IP Network? - We will have nine live camera feeds (probably standard definition 640x480) - We will need to switch between each individual full screen feed to all nine feeds displayed at once like a tic-tac-doe board. Hollywood Squares style. - Also, can someone recommend decent cameras for this type of application? One chipby Logan6 - Café LA quick replace of floating jpgs - 14 years agoFCP V6. G5. I have a sequence with several pictures floating across the screen. I got one sequence all set and I need to make 9 more (same animation paths but with new pictures). Is there a way to quickly drop in/replace them with new pictures - like a drop zone - so FCP can automatically pick up my existing animation keyframes? How is this done? They are all jpgs , and they are all on tby Logan6 - Café LA jerkiness - 14 years agoHi. I'm flying a camera around an object (a 2d picture) and I'm using the "point to behavior". So the camera starts a 45 degree angle to the object and then moves around to directly in front of the object (say 0 degree angle) . Or another way to put it: the camera starts at about 4:30 on the clock and ends at 6:00 on the clock all while pointing into the center of the clock face.by Logan6 - Motion Re: 2D star into 3D? - 14 years agohmmm. sort of but not really. If you drag that emitter into 3D space then rotate the camera around that element so your looking at it's side - it is flat. That emitter (like the star i mentioned before) are both 2D elements. The do not have any depth to them. Any other suggestions out there? thanks.by Logan6 - Motion 2D star into 3D? - 14 years agoHi, I am trying to create the illusion of traveling past stars and I'm currently dragging the premade "star" from the list of generators in the Library onto the stage (nice round orange dot with epsilon). It all loooks good and all except when I rotate the camera on the side of the stars then they look flat. Is there a way to extrude these elements or should I be importing a 3D shby Logan6 - Motion Re: P2 media - audio out of sync issue. - 14 years agoCorrection: If I watch the clip in the Viewer my time code jumps two frames twice and then three frames. And it goes from 0-60 frames. In the timeline I can step 1 timecode frame at a time up to 24 frames. I also have the Timecode Reader filter on.by Logan6 - Café LA P2 media - audio out of sync issue. - 14 years agoI am having a audio sync issue which I see only on my exported movies. It becomes more apparent as the playhead gets further into that long 12 minute clip that was on the timeline. (I start noticing it around 6-7 minutes and it gets progressively worse.) I do not notice this while working in FCP either in the clip or on the timeline. Only after I have exported the movie. What's the best way to render this movie out of my DVCPro50 timeline and transfer this material to a Mini DV tape? My record deck is my camera. Does it matter which camera I use (all have 1394).. A old Gl1, DVX100 and an HVX200. (Post house to take MiniDV and dump to BetaSP, DVCPro tapes, etc.) Thanks. FCP 6. When I set the sequence to 654x333 - I then need to render every clip everytime i drag it to the timeline - so i don't want to do that. I have a 4 hours of footage that I would like to show to a client on a DVD (or two). Each tape (1 hour) was transfered from tape to FCP 5. And then in FCP I went through, reviewed the footage and added chapter markers. What is a quick way (with minimal encoding time) to get my footage to a DVD with the chapter markers? Do I need to export (with chapter markers) from FCP and then have DVby Logan6 - Café LA Re: VHS - 16 years agoSo to sum it up. It sounds like that the best signal out of a standard VHS tape is to use a TBC standard VHS deck. Second in line would be a standard VHS deck. Then an S-VHS. Yes, I unerstand the benifits of the S video connection. but i guess in this case with Standard VHS. Ole Composite is the way (only way) to go if using Standard VHS machines. An Industrial VHS player with composite out (which I have an older 4 head beige 1990 Sony)? Or is an S-VHS player the way to go (with an S video signal out)? Thanks.by Logan6 - Café LA Re: HD DV in ? - 16 years agothanks for the input. However, this doesn't help as I am using both of my DVI outs on my G5 for LCD computer monitors. Right, I like to look at TV color space not computer. I'm just rying to eliminate the GL1 passthrough camera. I need a Firewire 1394 input (DV in) on the new flat panel HD TV. How is everyone else hooking up their NTSC monitor on a basic FCP editing workstation?by Logan6 - Café LA Re: HVX-200 and FCP and output and web - 16 years agoThanks, this is a good question - some clarification would be good. I'm pretty sure that if you want to view on an SD system then , yes, you will need to drop that HD clip in a DV sequene, thereby reducing the scale somewhat, and then you'll end up with black bars on top and bottom. Maybe i'm wrong, maybe zee experts will chime in?by Logan6 - Café LA HD DV in ? - 16 years agoDoes anyone know of flat screens with a DV in? (preferrably around 20"? I currently have my FCP workstation hooked up to an older GL1 through 1394 and then from there using a S video cable out to an NTSC monitor. It would be nice if the monitor just had DV in (1394 firewire in). Does anyone have any suggestions? make? model? thank you.by Logan6 - Café LA Re: difference matting - 16 years agoHa! Great! It worked. how simple. Thank you.by Logan6 - Café LA difference matting - 16 years agoHello. I would like to place a white circle (created on a psd layer and imported) onto another white circle (psd layer imported) in FCP and have a new negative space created in the shape of the smaller circle. In other words, it would be the same effect as applying the "difference" setting on a layer as seen in Photoshop except in this case I would use two video tracks in FCP. Should I set my sequence to RGB or YUV rendering? Also what compression scheme should I export my final movie as? thanks!by Logan6 - Café LA Re: Inconsistent Blurries - 16 years agoYup. External monitor connected. I think it's rendered coreectly - Sequence rendering is at 100% Full, 100% frame rate. No colored bars appear in the timeline. My main confusion comes over the inconsistancy. Most of the time it's just fine - just once in a while this occurs - then If I just move the clip to the beginning of the sequence its all fine? or paste it in a new sequence? This makes noby Logan6 - Café LA Inconsistent Blurries - 16 years agoI have some FCP created type over a frozen video image - or sometimes an imported TIF. The image is super blurry in pause and in payback. sometimes worse in pause and better in playback but still bad.
