Re: 1080p 23.98 timeline to SD 29.97 with 3:2 Pulldown - 17 years agoTim, check out the Film -> NTSC option in my standards conversion software at www.nattress.com You might be best using it to make a 1080i60 master from the 1080p24 using my software, and then use the K2 to downconvert that to SD, as it should do a better job of the downconversion than FCP (although I'm working on that for a later release). On Xsan, you'd want at least 2 Xserve RAIDS just to get the speed needed for one client. I'd go an ask some questions over at the Creative Cow Xsan forum where actuall users can probably give you more advice, but it's not going to be cheap or easy whichever solution you go with. Graemeby Graeme Nattress - Café LA Re: how to upgrade from dv only systems? - 17 years agoYes - that works as well. But either way, you need to plan for what you want and understand the implications etc. Graemeby Graeme Nattress - Café LA Re: how to upgrade from dv only systems? - 17 years agoWith the new Panasonic P2 HD camera on it's way, it would make sense to go a DVCProHD route to HD, which is much more affordable than the uncompressed route. However, I'd still recommend getting an Xsan setup for any academic editing situation. Went to a demo at U of Ottawa and they were using it in a 5 station DV setup, and they could do DVCProHD too if they wanted. Yes - Xsan isn't cheap, butby Graeme Nattress - Café LA Re: Looking for specific FCP film filter - 17 years agoThat's not right, lets try again... Graemeby Graeme Nattress - Café LA Re: Field Dominance Problems??? - 17 years agoAFAIK, MB doesn't do nice smooth slomos, But Boris Opical Flow and Twixtor do, and do it well. Graemeby Graeme Nattress - Café LA Re: Looking for specific FCP film filter - 17 years agoI'll try that now! Graemeby Graeme Nattress - Café LA Re: Looking for specific FCP film filter - 17 years agoThanks! It's mine at www.nattress.com Graemeby Graeme Nattress - Café LA Re: Trying out optional Log IN/register for Cafe LA - 17 years agoBold would be fine for your own posts, so you can spot them easier, but if everyone appears bold, it might be a bit ugly agreed. Any way to have control over whether the email replies checkbox defaults to on or off? For mods, I don't want to get double emails so I set it to off. Graemeby Graeme Nattress - Café LA Re: Trying out optional Log IN/register for Cafe LA - 17 years agoOO! Moderator buttons. Nice touch. Not that there's much need to delete idiot or defametory posts, on what is about the most pleasant and well mannered forum I visit / moderate for. Keep up the good work Mike! Editing posts seems to work too. Graemeby Graeme Nattress - Café LA Re: Trying out optional Log IN/register for Cafe LA - 17 years agoIt said there was already a user registered with my name, so I had to log in to reply to a post. Other than that, all seems ok so far.... Graemeby Graeme Nattress - Café LA Re: sales people shouldn't do the presentations - 17 years agoOr get a BlackMagic-Design HDLink which works superbly for monitoring HD at a fraction of the cost of the alternatives.
