Q-master frequently crashes when set up for multi core use. - 11 years agoOn my Mac Pro running 10.6.8 and FCP 7, compressor fails A LOT when using multiple cores. I have tried using 8, instead of 16. It still crashes. Unless its one very short sequence. Using the default setting always works. Any Ideas, I have digital Rebellion and I've run it.by Ethan - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Re: How to speed up render times - 11 years agoObviously different solutions will be more tolerable depending on how involved your show is and how much footage is involved. Your description makes it sound like you are using two different codecs in your timeline. Which is always a problem because one will of these codecs will need to be rendered anytime anything is done to it. A: cut in the codec used more often, or maybe it might be betby Ethan - Café LA Re: Increasing All Volume Levels - 11 years ago.....or you could use the audio gain filter, adjust on one clip. Copy that clip, delete the filter and paste attributes to all audio. That way anything maxed out gets gain added. But I'd go with the master gain thing first if it works for you. That was a great thing about FCP, so many ways to do stuff.by Ethan - Café LA Re: bug with Shure pg27 usb microphone sample rate - 11 years agoI have used the Snowball, I'm not sure if I've used the shure or not, but 48khz was definitely a choice I used. I believe the mic operates as the audio device so if the mic is up to it, it should record 48khz 24 bit. I'd suggest not using a hub, if I where you I'd be looking at if the mic works as desired with other systems, or software. Maybe you got a bum mic.by Ethan - Café LA Re: 24 frame Inquiry - 11 years agoThe accepted truth is that 23.97 "looks/feels" more filmic. Many of Hollywood's hottest guys are experimenting with higher frames rates though, so.... that canard is going away. Here is an epi:by Ethan - Café LA Re: 23.97 sequence to 29.97 - 11 years agoGenerally I find that using Command+Shift insert/overwrite works a whole lot better for copying sequences. And can sometimes get rid of the drift of copying to a different frame rate. IMHO if you have to cut in H264 then you should be using software that does it well, ie Premiere, or Apple Video Sequencer 10. I'm glad you mentioned, it messing with Avid though. Because Avid was crashing on import as well. I'll try it again since the update of Perian, and if it doesn't work I'll disable Perian and se if it helps. I really wanted to cut this show on Avid, but the director wanted to stck with where his comfort was.by Ethan - Café LA Re: FCP 7 DEATH KNELL Canon Mark III, L and T wont work. So now I have to ask, what versions of OS you have and version of Compressor?by Ethan - Café LA Re: FCP 7 DEATH KNELL Canon Mark III, L and T wont work. Keeps crashing, loaded EOS plugin 1.3 - 11 years agoOk now to confirm, this was a I frame mode clip or was it an IBP frame clip. Because the former makes FCP, Compressor and Avid Lock up. So knowing its me its just me is part of the solution. And I'm supposed to receive an IBP clip today to confirm. Maybe you could send me your test clip. If that's amenable Ill send you a link to my Yousendit acct.by Ethan - Café LA Re: FCP 7 DEATH KNELL Canon Mark III, L and T wont work. Keeps crashing, loaded EOS plugin 1.3 - 11 years agoYou are absolutely correct, but they are H264 files, so a no go for editing. The all interframe mode is not compatible with L&T, so no go there just Beachballs. MPEG streamclip and 5D2RGB both look for the THM file for T.C. or at least 5D2RGB does, either way neither see T.C. Keeps crashing, loaded EOS plugin 1.3 - 11 years agoSo i guess its just not compatible in i frame mode. It seems its not totally compatible with 5D2RGB either as that program can't see the time code. Although I am working with the light version. Which complains the TMP, file that has the metadata repeated in it isn't to be found. Im giving MPEG streamclip a shot, that program has saved my ass SO many times. I think I'll save that first sentence somewhere so I don't have to re-type it every other month. They shot with a Sony F900 and used a 35 mm adapter. They used monitors, but did not see the blurry quality of the shots. Could this "soft" quality be the result of the transfer. This show has double system sound. I sync the dailies, they play ok in the source window, they might even cut into a 23.98 sequence ok, at first. Then all of a sudden the shot is out of sync, and the daily is broken and out of sync as well. There had been a fill in sound mixer for two days, and it hadn't even occurred to me that his spec was different, or that there had been two production mixers. Using that sound had no ill effect in reel 1, but starting reel 2 with it created an out of sync OMF. The first clip was 44.1, and I didn't realize it, and it acted as if everything in the timeline was 44.1 and sync just slid out. Time urgent! - 11 years agoWhen you copy the sequence don't just use copy and paste. Either load the sequence in the viewer and use F10 into a new sequence/project. Or use the shift/command drop, also you can try opening the sequence with the drive unmounted and forcing a re-link. These have helped with my general/memory errors.
