well being the type who will often go blindly into a purchase thinking it will save time, i purchased illustrator this morning. i spent 1hr on it and made a very nice newsletter ( 3 pictures even ). i am guessing now that photoshop has a few more manipulation tricks but i am never gonna be a photoshop scientist / still image pro. i just feel as if it was easier for me but maybe its because photoby J.Corbett - Café LA

thanks man:-) that worked with quite a lot of trial and error. photoshop isnt exactly user friendly is it? i here that illustrater is easier and does the same thing, thinking about maybe getting it if this is the case. what do you think?by J.Corbett - Café LA

this is probably more of a photo shop question than fcp but i figure we all use the same stuff. i have a logo that i want to put onto a 8X11 in the upper right hand corner then i want to fill the rest in with pictures and text so that it looks like a magazine cover. i am using this png as an overlay to replace the magazine cover that is laying on a table in a clip. the thing is that i have no iby J.Corbett - Café LA

i have the rca outs on my dvx going to my tv because the tv doesnt have s-video in. will this still work and if so are there any settings i need to be doing in final cut?by J.Corbett - Café LA

Strange Program running on my cpu - 18 years ago
has anyone seen " MOTUPureDSP" on their cpu? i have this in my trash and every-time i try to delete it, it says " the operation cannot be completed because the item "MOTUPureDSP" is in use." its only been there for about 10 days never was there b4. i dont have any programs that it seems to point to. my concern is that it is a virus. will this allow me to look at the work i am doing to the footage while in fcp? that is what i am trying to accomplish. i am so use to looking at a tv screen to see a better representation of my edit may look like on a TV. i can still edit but it just kinda hurts the creative side to loose the TV.by J.Corbett - Café LA

my TV is connected to the one on the left (for lack terminology). when facing the back of my cpu. the choice of cinema desktop raw has disappeared. >>>>You are monitoring incorrectly. You should be monitoring only through a DV deck or a bonafide video capture card - NOT a standard video card. i have some how lost my desktop cinema raw. my only choices now are NONE and DESKTOP CINEMA MAIN. i dont know what is up with it i have tried a few connection trouble shots and that is about it. the option for raw isn't even a greyed out choice. it is completely gone. i am using a regular 15inch TV as a monitor and an adaptor from my video card. this brings me to another thing. i have change fby J.Corbett - Café LA

apparently there is a bug in qt7.1.1 that causes freezes and quits. the developers are working around apples qt bug and releasing the fix in their next update. aaarrrrrgh!!!!!!!!!!! kinemac is a great program for 3d first timers like me so i would say that this bug make the program horrid just frustrating. once you see what it can do you get really amped. it key frames with pretty good ease andby J.Corbett - Café LA

if anyone is using kinemac where is the manual pdf? i have had it for 2 days and i cant figure out how to chnge fonts or map to an object other than a cube. it quits when ever i put video (sometimes with jpegs also) in it. i dont see a keyframer where i cant create original motion paths. any help would be greatly appreciated.by J.Corbett - Café LA

i would love to have a 1tb external hard drive but as i here they are quite expensive. now i dont mind mildly expensive if it gets me more dependability so i am looking at 500g though that probly will only be full in about 3-4 months. what do you guys recomend as being reliable (2 or three brands)? is it possible to get a dependable 1tb system without having to sacrifice my first born child?by J.Corbett - Café LA

i just installed an ati readeon x800 video card and suddenly i am having to detect screen like everytime the cpu sleeps. it sometime switches from 1024 to 800 at times it has been down over night. anyone had this problem b4? g5 1.8 dual / 2.5g ram/ flat face old school crt screen/ os 10.4.6by J.Corbett - Café LA

hey i saw a lot of dvd intruction in the store. i am looking to buy one to better use the fcp5 studio however it seems that i would have to buy each dvd separate to get the full studio. i dont really mind that but i was wondering a few things: 1. if bought separately which one has the most detailed info? i notice a lot of the free tutorials offten skip over some of the details especially detailsby J.Corbett - Café LA

does anyone know of a widget or software that can calculate the file sizes of converted video files. meaning is the some way of saying to an app that i have a fcp project that is X-min. long then have that app calculate what the file size it would be if it were converted to mpeg4/mpeg2/ hd....ect. 3:2 in fcp to 4:3 dvdsp4 Why so muddy? - 18 years ago
i have a ntsc 3:2 in fcp but when i convert thru compressor to mpeg2 and put it in dvdsp4 my only choices are 4:3 and 16:9. once the dvd is finished burning and i play it back on the regular tube tv it seems as though the movie is too large for the screen. i get text that runs off the screen and some of the clips i wanted at the lower left (PIP) are a off the screen further than expected. its lby J.Corbett - Café LA
