Re: Sync Drives in Two Different Locations? - 11 years agoBacking up personal files...like what Drobo offers, or Carbonite.com...is simple because those are small personal files. VIDEO files? Those are big...GBs. Not really doable via the web.by Shane Ross - Café LA Re: Sync Drives in Two Different Locations? - 11 years ago>" I need to be able to have the location drive update automatically when I add sound effects and other things so I can seamlessly move from one setup to the other with the current project." Now how would it do that? It can't. If you clone a drive and move it off location...anything you add to the local drive will also need to be sent to the other one. i.e. you'll have to FTP tby Shane Ross - Café LA Re: 10 things you might not know about fcpx (last night's notes 2011-11) - 11 years agoMastering...no. Origination format...SHOOTING format...yes. There are still a LOT of DVCPRO HD tape cameras out in the field...shooting. And more than a few P2 cameras shooting DVCPRO HD. I still see that format in my area of production. And it doesn't matter if it is NO LONGER the dominant HD format...there was a time it was. And it was used on major high end productions. So it isn't &qby Shane Ross - Café LA - X Re: 10 things you might not know about fcpx (last night's notes 2011-11) - 11 years agoDVCPRO HD isn't Prosumer. It was the main format used in the BBC series PLANET EARTH, and the standard professional HD format for many many many years. And it is still considered a professional format by many cable networks like Discovery, History and NatGeo. But HDV is not. They specifically say to NOT use HDV.by Shane Ross - Café LA - X Re: Upgrading old version of FCP to new Macbook Pro - 11 years agoSorry, FCP 4.0 will never work on your new machine. It simply will not work on Intel computers. FCP 5.1 was the first to be able to do that. You either need to keep using the old software on the older machine, or get the newer software for the newer machine. And if you want to work on your OLDER projects with newer software, FCP 7 (Final Cut Studio 3...Studio 2009...) is your best bet. Is only viewable if you have FCP. They are tied to FCP. You can only AMA them into Avid if FCP is also installed on the same machine. And you only work with Avid codecs if you transcode to Avid codecs. Although I will grant that a few people didn't know about that. No, what we are all up in arms about is the inabillity to capture other professional tape formats: BetaSP, Digibeta, HDCAM, HDCAM SR, BetaSX, D5. The detail isn't there to recover. You can try this plugin, the CAPT'S BLOWOUT FIXER. It's free. But really, if it is very over exposed by a lot, there isn't much that can be done.
