Re: Bizarre sync problem - 16 years agoAudio for DVD, DV, tapes for broadcast are all at 48khz 16bits. Audio on CDs are at 44.1khz, so they need to be converted to 48khz before you start working with it. The only stuff going at other bitrates are Cannon's sampling rate issue (47.99khz), and DVD-audio which is at 96khz 24bit, and crummy sounding 32khz 4 track audio DV, which records 4 tracks by compromising sampling rate. Which is technically the same as your aiff file. If it's NOT a self-contained movie file, then it merely links itself to the clips in your storage device/timeline. True- it gives you added options to burn a dvd/dv backup. And you need the extra clarity to help gauge your shots/colors, etc... To add on to this, on exporting, you could also export via compressor, which also allows you to trim offby strypes - Café LA Compressor doesn't seem to be stopping! - 16 years agoThis is weird.. I've compressor running in the background, i'm batch converting like 40 mins worth of NTSC footages to work in PAL, and i'm on 99% completion with 39 seconds. The footage looks good and it doesn't look like there's any artifacing so far... but... I've been on "39 secs" left for the past 3 hours... I think it's stalled.... Isn't it better to fully utilize the bitrate? QT conversion forces a render of everything on your timeline, causing a double compression. Adjust brightness up until you see 3 black lines at the bottom. Think the darkest one is supposed to be digital black, the next one is supposed to be video black, and can't remember the third one. Adjust it until the first 2 lines merge and are of the same tone.by strypes - Café LA Re: Converting VOB to MOV files - 16 years agoIs there anyway to extract a DVD track/chapter and rip that as part of another dvd without losing generation?by strypes - Café LA The new Leopard update - 16 years ago10.5.1 is out. anyone ran it yet? I only use it on my final output when there no more changes to the sequence, and to apply a broadcast safe filter to kill off any illegal transitions, and also to line up the mastered audio tracks. I did experience a similar problem working on an ntsc timeline in final cut 5.1.1. A 44.1/48khz mixed timeline shouldn't cause an audio drift- it causes other problems but not audio drifts.
