Re: Creative Cloud Open Letter - 10 years agoI'm not going to even try finding excuses, but I made sure I got 2 bank accounts as I didn't want to have my money wiped out with one.by strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: What is the ideal folder structure for raw media? - 10 years ago> The prefix should remain completely consistent, right down to underscores and/or dashes, across the entire project. I completely agree. The dashes and underscores aren't for fun and I do search filtering quite a bit. For me, dashes replace spaces, underscores separate fields.by strypes - Café LA Re: Upscaling DV-NTSC to HD? - 10 years agoI'd mention the scaling in the coming version of AE as one to look out for. Up scaling in Premiere is quite fast, pretty good and can use the GPU for acceleration. I'd also second Nick's recommendation of the Resolve for an inexpensive software based solution. The Resolve will use the GPU for scaling. The thing about these modern software solutions is that you will need a modern GPU. Especby strypes - Café LA Re: Creative Cloud Open Letter - 10 years agoGetting hacked isn't anything new. EA Sports was hacked, so was PS3, Steam, the Bank of America, Vodafone, Google, my web page a couple of times, Citibank, etc.. I'll be a lot more worried if my bank was hacked as I usually don't have much money available via online credit.by strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: What is the ideal folder structure for raw media? - 10 years agoYes. What Derek said. I usually also add all essential metadata to the folder containing the card contents. So i dont ever call a folder "Card 1" or even "day 1 card 1". Why? In the Avid world, that is called the virtual volume. In the FCP7 world, that name becomes the tape name. So I treat that folder like a tape label, and call it "Titan_S1_D01A_C01" for seasonby strypes - Café LA Re: what after Cinema Tools? - 10 years ago>so Strypes, are you saying that PP can do a CT-type "conform" directly in a timeline? Yes. Except that the slow down occurs in the timeline rather than in changing header information of the file.by strypes - Café LA Re: what after Cinema Tools? - 10 years agoUnlike Premiere, where the Lumetri effect is blessed by the Mercury Playback engine, LUT Buddy, like all 3rd party plugins in FCP, isn't blessed by FCP7's RT Extreme engine, so it's unlimited RT, which means reduced resolution playback (I don't think this plays back on an external broadcast monitor), you will probably drop frames, and there's the case of superbrights not showing up until after thby strypes - Café LA Re: HDV clip convert to SD - 10 years ago>Conform their frame rates first to the rest of the footage (use Compressor -- but don't >abandon the HD frame) It's HDV. That won't work with Cinema Tools due to the long GOP compression. If they have different frame rates, then you'll need to transcode with Compressor. That or edit with Premiere which is a bit more intelligent with mixing frame rates.by strypes - Café LA Re: what after Cinema Tools? - 10 years agoHi Nick, Yea, there's Jon's tools which is great. With Premiere Pro, there's no need to conform frame rates. Since you can interpret the frame rate with any format. And Premiere is looking like a very worthy replacement for FCP7, if not now, you'll probably see in a few months with the speed of new features rolling out. One slight issue with Premiere is that you may need to plan your workflby strypes - Café LA Re: Importing from AVCHD to FCP 6.06 - 10 years agoYea. Best of all, no jumping around trying to find a way to being the footage into the NLE. Import by the built in Media Browser or drag and drop and start editing.by strypes - Café LA Re: Adobe updates all video apps - coming in October - 10 years agoMy pleasure. This was looking to be quite a major release. I am also seeing that the multicam function will change the way many of us work with dual system sound audio. Especially when syncing and working with interviews.by strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Adobe updates all video apps - coming in October - 10 years agoThanks Mike!by strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Adobe updates all video apps - coming in October - 10 years agoI did manage to get a sneak peek at it, and this was what I wrote.by strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Subtitle Import for FCPX - 10 years agoHey Andreas, FCP Text does make it into Premiere Pro CC's titler.by strypes - Café LA - X Help get GPU into Creative Impatience Premiere Pro plugins - 10 years agoHey guys, if you have been using Premiere, you'd probably have used Bart's free plugins. Here's a chance to help him out and to help you out too, because GPU plugins render faster. If you want to get just a single plugin, I'd recommend Power Window, because it's one plugin that's extremely handy to make those vignettes and other power windowy stuff you need.by strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Importing from AVCHD to FCP 6.06 - 10 years agoYou should use log and transfer. Urghs. Wundershare... Sorry. I have this thing about spam ware.by strypes - Café LA Re: Why is all Audio I import into MC 5.5 so LOUD? - 10 years agoAre they audio only clips? There's a preference that will normalize audio on import under "import settings>audio>apply attenuation/gain effect on import". What that will do is that if you bring in music tracks, because music tends to be mixed to peak at 0dBs, they will sound much louder than broadcast audio, hence a function to reduce gain on those clips on import.by strypes - Avid Media Composer Re: Visual Effects workflow - 10 years agoReason why you may want higher rez is because the vfx guys may want to do a zoom in. So it depends I guess. I haven't done RED in FCP for a while, but I recall L&T transcoded to 2K off the 4K files back in the 4K days. So you may want to try using RedCine X Pro for the full debayer to either ProRes 4444 or DPX. Some guys prefer ProRes because the file sizes are smaller, but IMO, ProRes needsby strypes - Café LA Re: Visual Effects workflow - 10 years agoUsually you'll grade the shots first and then send them for vfx, so the Resolve or whatever grading machine will render out to DPX. And no, don't send her the ProRes Proxy unless she intends to work in low rez while waiting for the grade. I woul advise sending her the R3Ds because you don't want to give her a smaller frame size than what you shot on. But if you need to go ProRes 4444, you cby strypes - Café LA Re: Adorama has the FCP > M.C.6 Crossgrade for $199, shipping included. - 10 years agoYes.by strypes - Café LA Re: Adorama has the FCP > M.C.6 Crossgrade for $199, shipping included. - 10 years agoWow! That's a crazy price! And you can upgrade to MC7 with Symphony option for just $400 more!by strypes - Café LA Re: Slightly OT: AE Tracker2Mask - 10 years agoYes! I know! It's as if they were reading my mind!by strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Adobe updates all video apps - coming in October - 10 years agoAE doesn't do transitions like in Premiere as it doesn't have a timeline, so I'm not entirely sure what that is, but I'm sure Adobe knows about the Motion/FCPX integration, so I guess we'll find out! I am quite excited by Prelude and Live Logger. In the old days of tape, we used to have log sheets and we could batch capture from a batch list made from that log sheet. In the world of tapeless,by strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Known Working FCP7/OS combinations - 10 years agoMine works on the Macbook Pro i7 Quad core. OSX 10.8.4 FCP7.0.3 Quicktime 7.6.6 Side note. I did run in a slight issue with a corrupt QMaster related file which caused Compressor 3.5 not to launch any windows, and since I also have Compressor 4, and I don't send stuff directly from FCP7 to Compressor, I didn't bother re-installing Compressor 3.5. I'm pretty sure it's not related to the OSby strypes - Café LA Re: Adobe updates all video apps - coming in October - 10 years agoThe other big ones for me are tracking masks in AE, new features for Prelude XMP, Premiere's hover scrubbing sequences and ripple-deletion (?rippling?) of markers and Monitor Overlays. It's been a long time coming!by strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Slightly OT: AE Tracker2Mask - 10 years agoSometimes I like to use a mask without having use shape objects and track mattes.by strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Slightly OT: AE Tracker2Mask - 10 years agoThis is slightly OT, as this forum is about NLEs, but Track2Mask has been great, so I thought it is worth a mention here. What the script does is that it allows you to track a shot and attach the tracking data to a mask by selecting the mask and selecting the tracker. Very easy and very affordable (name your own price).by strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Thunderbolt RAID for multicam 8/12-up Pegasus or GRAID or other? - 10 years agoThere's also the part that the machine won't be able to decode 8-12 streams of ProRes HD in real time, but you can drop the playback quality to medium or low.by strypes - Café LA Re: Thunderbolt RAID for multicam 8/12-up Pegasus or GRAID or other? - 10 years agoMore drives usually mean a faster RAID. I would probably go for the Pegasus, as it's quite a robust RAID array. SSDs would be wicked fast, but they will be VERY expensive.by strypes - Café LA |
