Re: Warning : ProKit 6.0.1 update. Do not install. - 13 years agografixjoe, lots of people are having problems: And here's my solution:by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Moving a .mov file from a file into fc changes its properties?? - 13 years agoIt's probably this issue:by Jon Chappell - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Re: OT: Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6 update released - 13 years agoSome people have experienced issues with the Simulator crashing too.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: OT: Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6 update released - 13 years agoJude Cotter Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Maybe they got the Prokit upgrade at the same > time, which we know messes with DVDSP? No, they didn't install it.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: OT: Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6 update released - 13 years agoA few people have reported problems with DVD Studio Pro and OS X 10.6.5. There's no word whether or not 10.6.6 fixes it, but as the change log is pretty sparse I'm guessing the answer is no.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: DVDSP accepting .mov files - 13 years agoThere is no default codec. I would suggest that you send to Compressor and use one of the DVD presets to create an MPEG-2 file. Not only will this be superior quality to anything encoded by DVDSP, it will guarantee compatibility and should prevent that error message.by Jon Chappell - DVD Studio Pro Re: DVDSP accepting .mov files - 13 years agoWhat codec are you using?by Jon Chappell - DVD Studio Pro Re: Footage looks terrible in FCP - 13 years agocyppe Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Output fields: Progressive <- is this correct? Sorry, yes, I forgot that bit. As Tom says, your footage will look interlaced if you are importing it into a sequence that is interlaced. Go to Sequence Settings (Apple+0) and set Field Dominance to None.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Footage looks terrible in FCP - 13 years agoCompressor has much better deinterlacing capabilities than Final Cut Pro. Just go to the Frame Controls tab, switch Frame Controls on and then set Deinterlace to Better. This will take longer but you'll only have to do it once.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: FCP defaulting to incorrect external display in Digital Cinema Desktop - 13 years agoHave you tried changing the order of the displays in the Displays section of System Preferences?by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: 5.1 surround question - 13 years agoI had to do this a while back. I'm not overly familiar with the process as it was handled by the audio post house but I remember it involved a guy from Dolby coming in and connecting up a black box that presumably handled the encoding.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Play Lag Source in FCP 7 - 13 years agoAlso bear in mind that Final Cut Pro has to buffer several frames into memory before it can start playing.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Compressor will not open up within FinalCut Studio 2 - 13 years ago<log tms="314495428.316" tmt="12/19/2010 15:50:28.316" pid="345" msg="Cluster storage URL = null"/> Not sure if this is normal. Try going into System Preferences > Apple Qmaster > Advanced and check the location of your cluster storage.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Compressor will not open up within FinalCut Studio 2 - 13 years agoTry these suggestions:by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: multi-cam - 13 years agoNo need to download anything, Final Cut Pro 5.1 has multicam support built-in.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Prores Changes Colour - 13 years agogmc205 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi, just a Quick one D-Mac, Do i need to uninstall > Quicktime player X, or is it ok to install 7.6 > alongside it ? You can't uninstall it. But the two players will work side-by-side. I wrote up an FAQ recently to clear up a lot of confusion people had about QuickTime X, which you may find useful:by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Prores Changes Colour - 13 years agoI don't think you should remove the app. It's easier and safer to just use the Get Info dialog to set all QuickTime movies to open with QuickTime 7 Player. (although for some reason if you set a WMV to open in QuickTime Player 7, Flip4Mac keeps changing it back to QT X).by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: OT: Defrag'ing Media Drives - 13 years agoOops... misread the original post. Ignore that.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: OT: Defrag'ing Media Drives - 13 years agoYou should never defragment media drives. They work much better in a fragmented state.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: upgrading operating system - 13 years agoAs you are on 10.3.9, I am assuming you are using a Power PC processor. This means that the very latest version of Final Cut Pro will not work on your computer. The latest operation system version you can install is Leopard (10.5) and the latest version of Final Cut Pro you can install is version 6 (FCS 2).by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Is it possible to play a sequence while using another application? - 13 years agoDerek, we have an iPad app coming out in January that simplifies that process: And it will be released with a free app for getting the markers into FCP, as for some reason there's no built-in function for importing a marker list into FCP.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Is it possible to play a sequence while using another application? - 13 years agoThere is unfortunately no way of doing this in FCP.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: FCP 5.1.4 PPC transitions do not work - 13 years agovt81400 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > i uninstalled FCP and cinema tools and reinstalled > them. If you wish to work with HD media, your only choice is to convert it all to DVCPRO HD or else update Final Cut Studio. I would recommend finding an old copy of FCS 2 on eBay and installing that. You'll get lots of extra applications and many additional codecs, including ProRes. hybridd@aby Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: QT Editing - 13 years agoI agree with the previous posters, but just for completion's sake, here's how to do quick edits in QuickTime. 1. Export the credits as a QuickTime movie from FCP. 2. Open the previously-exported movie in QuickTime Player 7 and position the playhead at the start of the credits. 3. Drag the credits movie into the QuickTime window. 4. Go to File > Save As to save the file.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Charging clients fees - 13 years agochubby Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > an hourly fee for me I > feel would exhaust some of my potential gigs. Is that a bad thing? The clients who demand you do it for a pittance are normally the ones you want to avoid anyway.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: WARNING - Just did Prokit update. - 13 years agoJude Cotter Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > By the way, excellent work on your > applications Jon, I highly recommend them. Delete the 6.1 ProKit.framework folder located in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks 2. Download and install ProKit 5.0 from here: 3. Download and install ProKit 5.1 from here:by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Transitions on stills rendered out as Quick Time movies? - 13 years agoCan you not just re-add the transitions after roundtripping from Color? I find it much easier to color correct without transitions.by Jon Chappell - Café LA |
