Re: i have studio 3 but i still have QT 10 - 12 years agoNone whatsoever.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: i have studio 3 but i still have QT 10 - 12 years agoYou have a license for QuickTime Pro already. It comes with Final Cut Studio. However, you need QuickTime Player 7 to take advantage of it and QuickTime Player 7 is not installed by default on Snow Leopard. You need to put your Snow Leopard disc in and install it manually.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Quicktime to iPad conversion - 12 years agoIn case you're not running Compressor 3.5.3, here is what it says under the iPad / iPhone 4 preset: Name: H.264 for iPad and iPhone 4 Description: H.264 1280x720 video @ 10Mbps, progressive. Audio is 44.1kHz, stereo File Extension: m4v Estimated size: 4.5 GB/hour of source Device: iPad/iPhone 4 Frame sync rate: Automatic Video Encoder Format: QT Width and Height: Automatic Pixelby Jon Chappell - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Re: Change of RAM - 12 years agoThat article implies that switching to a 64-bit operating system would immediately allow Final Cut Pro to access the extra memory. This is not the case. Final Cut Pro would need to be recompiled as a 64-bit application and many of the older 32-bit-only APIs it uses would need to be replaced with 64-bit equivalents. This is not a trivial undertaking. So until that occurs, the 14 GB of RAM in yoby Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: History of project edits - 12 years agoSounds like a job for FCP Versioner:by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Lap Top V.S. You're eligible for the $299 upgrade (shop around and you'll find it even cheaper).by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Difficulty burning DVD: Getting error message - 12 years agoDon't send the img file to your clients. Open the file in Disk Utility (inside Applications/Utilities) and click the Burn button. P.S. You may experience greater success by choosing a slower burn speed in Disk Utility. DVD SP does not offer this option and simply burns at the maximum speed of the drive.by Jon Chappell - DVD Studio Pro Re: How to determine if a new Mac Pro defaults to 64 bit OS? - 12 years agoHere is a handy list of those that boot into 64-bit by default (just Xserves and 2010 Mac Pros): Here is how to set it to boot into 64-bit mode by default: The advantage of a 64-bit kernel is that it can address more memory, has lower overheads if you have a lot of RAM, it offers performance advantages, etc. However, you will need to make sure that all device drivers and third-party kerby Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Text Tool Control Tab crashes FCP 6 - 12 years agoIt's probably a corrupt font. You can use the Font Book utility to find and remove problematic fonts.by Jon Chappell - The Bug Report Re: Difficulty burning DVD: Getting error message - 12 years agoOne thing to try is going to Build/Format and selecting Hard Disk as the output option. This will create a disk image that you can open up in Disk Utility and burn from there. But be aware that this error can sometimes indicate a physical failure with the device.by Jon Chappell - DVD Studio Pro Re: Ultra virtual sets - 12 years agoUltra is only available for Windows. I don't know of any plugins that would allow you to use these proprietary files in FCP.by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: Force system profile check? - 12 years agoThere are two ways to force FCP to recalculate your system profile. The first is to trash preferences and the second is to choose Auto Profile in the Internal Tools menu:by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: APPLE RELEASE NEW MACS!!! Does the problem go away if you unplug the Firewire drives and capture to an internal drive or an external drive connected to a different type of port, such as eSATA or (gasp) USB?by Jon Chappell - Café LA Re: each time I launch the program, it crash: - 12 years agoJordi Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > unrecognized > selector sent to class 0x8c0180 (has changed > before was 0x7d8700!!!!) It looks like perhaps one of your shared frameworks is corrupt or out of date. Might be time for a reinstall. Use this tool to remove the files first:by Jon Chappell - Soundtrack Pro Re: each time I launch the program, it crash: - 12 years agoYou can't always tell the cause of the crash from the crashed thread. Without the additional threads there can be a lot of red herrings. For instance, the thread may have crashed in a graphics routine so you tell the person to investigate their graphics card and drivers. But if you could see the other threads, you would realize that they have layers and layers of H.264 media with filters stacby Jon Chappell - Soundtrack Pro Re: each time I launch the program, it crash: - 12 years agoCan you post the crash log?by Jon Chappell - Soundtrack Pro Re: Selecting which DVD burner to use - 12 years agoYou have to go to the Build / Format option, where you can select the drive or alternatively create a disk image and then burn it in Disk Utility.by Jon Chappell - DVD Studio Pro Re: FCP and Avid question. - 12 years agoTom Wolsky Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "(requires free developer registration)" > > This is not open to most users. There are "Enhancement" and "Feature (New)" categories for this very purpose. If you request something that has been requested before, it is marked as a duplicate. You never hear anything back so you have no idea if anyone even read it.
