I have now run a camera test with multiple options and from what we see, this problem was caused by the incorrect shutter at 30 and compounded by a very contrasty shot--man in black suit, white bg-- but not by a mistaken "quasi progressive setting in the menu. When I tested with progressive, everything got even worse, but the shutter along produced the problem we see in thby dasha - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion any cure for this problem footage due to incorrect shutter or "pseudo progressive - 12 years agoI know this is not a strictly compressor issue, and I apologize up front, but some input I've received has suggested compressor as a possible fix. What happened was a cameraman shooting on my SonyPD170, standard def, didn't realize the shutter had shifted to 30 when it should have been on 60. My film is currently at a post house in NY and the colorist (who had upconverted to 1080) wondered whyby dasha - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Re: mpeg2 converted to QT & dropped in SD NTSC timeline playback ok until rendered - 15 years agothanks for your reply. yes, I know how 24p media looks, but my timeline is 29.97-- was shot with a sony pd170 and the converted clips are also now 29.97--i checked info again. (Of course i don't know what they originally were) Thanks for letting me know that the external monitor is the one to trust. As you suggested I did play from viewer to that monitor and again, it seems ok. I also tried droppby dasha - Café LA mpeg2 converted to QT & dropped in SD NTSC timeline playback ok until rendered - 15 years agoStrange issue with some clips that were originally downloaded (with the company's permission) from a mediapack-info shows the codec as MPEG2 Muxed and dimensions as 640X480 (I don't know what the original shooting format was-hd possibly). A while ago a friend who understood all this stuff more than I do converted to a QT and then the sequence was imported into my FCP6 and seemed fine when I droby dasha - Café LA |
