For mixing formats, Premiere and FCPX are king. But when everything is in the same low-complexity codec like ProRes or DNxHD, Avid is better IMO (or FCP 7 but I'm trying to avoid starting newby Jon Chappell - Café LA - X Re: Anyone like the FCP X update? - 11 years agoI mainly work on features and I can't really see any choice other than Avid right now. The main selling points of FCPX and Premiere (no rendering, AE / Motion integration, mix and match media) are things that I wouldn't need in my workflow and the main disadvantages (longer export times, unstable with long timelines, harder to get data into other apps) are deal-breakers.by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X Re: Yet another other - 11 years agoThey had a KickStarter campaign to bring it to Mac a few months ago and now it's out? I don't know if it's mandatory or voluntary but most major banks and credit card providers do it.by Jon Chappell - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Creative Cloud Open Letter - 11 years agoIf your credit card details have been compromised, you may not necessarily know immediately. It may be lying dormant in a database for some time before someone tries to use it. But nowadays most card providers will credit back all unauthorized transactions, which is why it's better to use a credit card because then it's the bank's money that gets lost in the interim, not yours.by Jon Chappell - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Creative Cloud Open Letter - 11 years agoDid your email say definitively that you were part of the group whose details were compromised? Will they have free updates forever, will they have upgrade pricing or will they just release a separate app that everyone has to pay full price for again? I'm curious as to whether or not FCPX development breaks even.by Jon Chappell - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Creative Cloud Open Letter - 11 years agoI don't think Adobe's marketing makes it clear that the lowest prices require a commitment. I know lots of people who misunderstood it.by Jon Chappell - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Exporting for Broadcast - 11 years agoDo you still have FCP 7 installed?by Jon Chappell - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: First casualty of CC = Adobe Encore is dead... - 11 years agoYes, the issue for me isn't the fact that the EOL-ed it (as you say, it was inevitable) but rather the lack of explanation on how EOL-ed software fits long-term into the new licensing model.by Jon Chappell - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: First casualty of CC = Adobe Encore is dead... - 11 years agoIt's not a "sky is falling" situation. It's a situation where Adobe hasn't communicated effectively and left important questions unanswered. With their new model Adobe needs to be really good at communicating their policies and future plans.by Jon Chappell - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: First casualty of CC = Adobe Encore is dead... - 11 years agoClayC Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > At least Encore is still available and will > continue to be supported Supported in what way?
