I mainly work on features and I can't really see any choice other than Avid right now. The main selling points of FCPX and Premiere (no rendering, AE / Motion integration, mix and match media) are things that I wouldn't need in my workflow and the main disadvantages (longer export times, unstable with long timelines, harder to get data into other apps) are deal-breakers.by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X

If your credit card details have been compromised, you may not necessarily know immediately. It may be lying dormant in a database for some time before someone tries to use it. But nowadays most card providers will credit back all unauthorized transactions, which is why it's better to use a credit card because then it's the bank's money that gets lost in the interim, not yours.by Jon Chappell - Adobe Premiere Pro CC

I'll be interested to see what Apple's long-term strategy is with FCPX. Will they have free updates forever, will they have upgrade pricing or will they just release a separate app that everyone has to pay full price for again? It's not a "sky is falling" situation. It's a situation where Adobe hasn't communicated effectively and left important questions unanswered. With their new model Adobe needs to be really good at communicating their policies and future plans.by Jon Chappell - Adobe Premiere Pro CC

While we're on the subject of speed, this is speculated to be a benchmark for the new Mac Pro: Interesting to note that in some cases the 2012 model is faster, although it's probably best not to draw too many conclusions until the final version is released.by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X

As far as I'm aware no devices support Thunderbolt 2 because Intel only just announced it. It's really just a tweak to the design so that the bandwidth is used more efficiently.by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X

I guess the question is how much are people willing to sacrifice for an OS? Some amount of sacrifice has always been necessary when purchasing Apple products but we'll have to wait and see if Apple has pushed the balance too far.by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X

Each project has a Backup folder, however for some reason Apple decided to only create one backup every 15 minutes and have that version overwrite all previous backups. So if the data you want is more than 15 minutes old you're out of luck. Error -1 can often be caused by corrupt render files, so try trashing them and exporting again. We've built up an error message database that is available in our Crash Analyzer and EditCodes tools. You can find a list of currently supported error messages here:by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X
