We've got one in Pro Media Tools too. It's especially useful at handling image sequences because it has several features for finding gaps, renumbering frames, modifying padding, etc. I use it all the time for dealing with VFX shots.by Jon Chappell - Café LA

I agree with Andreas, switching to another NLE that you don't know with it's own set of quirks and limitations is a bad idea in the middle of a project. Your task is made easier by using P2 media. P2 media is DVCPRO HD in an MXF container - you do not need to transcode it, all you need to do to get FCP to recognize it is to rewrap it to QuickTime. Recovering deleted files can be hit and miss, and it gets expensive fast. I'd recommend trying something like Data Rescue or Tech Tool Pro to try to get it back, but if the basic tools don't work I wouldn't recommend paying for professional forensic recovery when it sounds like your project could be recreated.by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X

Do you have a name set for your computer in the Sharing dialog in System Preferences? Not having one can cause issues like this. Also, are you submitting to This Computer or a cluster?by Jon Chappell - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion

How much RAM do you have? Apple recommends 1 GB per Compressor instance but it really depends on the codec. For low-complexity codecs like DV you can probably use every core without penalty but for more complex codecs like H.264 you may need to scale it back.by Jon Chappell - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion

This is absolutely correct, however FCPX has a feature that will let you edit off the card and then it will replace it with the local media once the transfer is complete, so it would seem as if Apple advocates this type of workflow even if it's not recommended.by Jon Chappell - Café LA - X

I just did a test with Compressor and converted a 5D MkIII clip to ProRes 422. The resulting file contained a timecode track and the values were correct in QuickTime Player and FCP 7.by Jon Chappell - Café LA
