Re: FCP sequence presets for Sony HXR-NX5U NXCAM? - 9 years agoDefinitely set sequence to the ProRes transcode. Or, you can drag an ingested ProRes clip into your timeline and let it match settings automatically. It's a shortcut, albeit not infallible. XDCAM, although you can edit it in FCP7, just as you can HDV and H.264, is primarily a compressed camera codec. - Loren Today's FCP 7 keytips: Copy clip Attributes with Command-C Paste selecby Loren Miller - Café LA Re: Keyboard and Mouse for better ergonomics and productivity - 9 years agoIf they want to invest in their futures, they better balance the load between mouse and keyboard. Part of the legendary culture of the FCP development was the occasional comment-- "Whoops! It works!" I would indeed. But you might not want DV Pal, you want DVCPro PAL 50i. Audio sample rate is correct. You might also look at the FCP Canvas window controls-- three buttons under the title bar. This is the "magic line." Drag above-- you Insert. Drag below- you Overwrite. The changing cursor reinforces the concept. It's become so popular it's been carried over to Avid Media Composer! "Balancing" the film among reels no longer than ten minutes was also standard. Norman Holby Loren Miller - Café LA Re: on-set audio recorded too low, raising volume = hiss - 9 years agoAnother trick is to nest the low audio region, name the nest after the speaker and append "audio boost" so it appears that way in the Browser, then in the Timeline you have another 12DB you can raise on the nest clip!
