Re: BBC endorce FCP on Apple Site (and Buffy the Vampire Slayer discussion) - 17 years agoRomeo Must Die is a good example of non-traditional romance pairing that had some spark and some fun fight work. Nicely tailored to Jet Li's limited english and the conventions of MA films and the tried and true Romeo/Juliet romance genre. akby Andrew Kines - Café LA Re: BBC endorce FCP on Apple Site (and Buffy the Vampire Slayer discussion) - 17 years agoIt reminds me of the ol' Avid-L. Anyone up for a discussion about Hot Dogs? Turducken? Who wants to volunteer to be Bob Zelin? Now that I think about it, let's not. I personally love the low quality acting of the evil white dudes in Drunken Master II and sundry other Martial Arts movies. Other than that, Jet Li is a favourite of mine. I like some good wire work. There were two projects being cut on that system and they were both 400+ Gigs per, 3 track multicam shows. So far there have been no issues stemming from the upgrade. If you have an older Mac still on 10.3.9 and QT 6.x try opening the SGI file there in Quicktime and seeing what codec it thinks it is. It might be the case of the SGI uncompressed codec not being installed in QT 7.0. Although not having the proper codec usually results in a "can't open file" type of warning.by Andrew Kines - Café LA Re: Tons of Dual Mono 44.1 files to Stereo 48 - 17 years agoHi everyone and thanks for the suggestions. What I and the assistant ended up doing was this. In Compressor "import surround files"(shift-apple-I), drag and drop the .L and .R files to their respective channels, do this for every pair. select all, add AIFF 48/16 preset and a destination preset and batch. I think a mouse is more of a mace than a flail but it's splitting hairs. On one project I worked on way back when, we inserted slates onto the master tapes at each TC break. There was lots of camera junk at the head of each TC segment and there was no money for dubs to new beta stock. I think there is a lot of this going on. A camera op I was chatting to the other day said it had been a few months in a row of gigs shooting HD with at least one monitor in video village taped off for SD, for the client who doesn't understand the whole letterbox vs crop "thing". It would be great in FCP if the Title safe had an option for this.by Andrew Kines - Café LA Stating the obvious... - 17 years agoGoing on a holiday to Europe = Expensive Coming back to a system unintentionally upgraded to 5.1.2 = Unnerving Switching Tabs from the keyboard = AWESOME!by Andrew Kines - Café LA Re: Very Dissappointed Mac Pro Editor - 17 years agoDon't send back the Soundtrack Loops and Livetype media disks. DVCAM, P2? frame rate? Your df/ndf setting is determined primarily by what is on the tape. The tape will have been shot in either drop or non drop. Some cameras allow it to be switched at any time so you may have a tape that is partially one and the other. Click on the timeline and hit command-0(zero) It is probably not as big a problem as you might think unless you have already based all your timings on sequence timecode. Never separate the audio files. In AVID you could always put your Video on the super expensive 4-way stripe of AVID drives for AVR 77 and put your audio on a single media drive. In 29.97 world it's an accreting difference as time passes. There is a "second to second" relationship between 23.976NDF and 29.97NDF. That is, the zeros will line up but the frames will always be a frame or two off. It can help you but the issue of it not relating to real time is still there. No distort settings at all. Once in the multiclip and in a sequence, cutting between them causes one of the angles to acquire a distort setting of 33.33.
