Re: boris continuum complete? - 16 years agoOh, does Pete work for FxFactory Pro? I just sent them a long email with my technical concerns. Pete, will you get that email? Can I forward to you the email I sent to them? Thanks!by Benjamin Meyer - Café LA boris continuum complete? - 16 years agoHey, all The post sup and producer on this show I'm about to cut want to know whether I want Boris Continuum Complete on the system. My feeling, from the little tinkering I've done withBCC, is that it's mostly redundant of things you can do in Motion, and with far less expensive plug-in suites. Does anybody who has worked extensively with BCC on FCP have another opinion? Anybody loving itby Benjamin Meyer - Café LA Re: expensive software not working - 16 years agoActually, I got Color working fine on my machine. It was a matter of following the prep instructions posted by "janghos" to a tee. You can't have anything in your sequence with a speed effect, or any sort of compositing, and it all has to be on V1. I am sure everything will work better when I upgrade my system, but for now, Color does work, and it works fine.by Benjamin Meyer - Color Re: expensive software not working - 16 years agoNothing is included "free" with the FCS. You buy the whole package, and the whole package costs $1200, and it's all supposed to work. According to this page: "The minimum system requirements to install ALL Final Cut Studio applications" includes the hardware that I have. In fact, my GeForce 6800 Ultra should be well suited to the software. And, my 7 GB of RAM shouby Benjamin Meyer - Color Re: expensive software not working - 16 years agoI also tried right-clicking a DV clip in the finder, and selecting "Open with Color." This also did not work.by Benjamin Meyer - Color Re: bug upon "send to FCP" - 16 years agoDid anybody get anywhere with this?by Benjamin Meyer - Color expensive software not working - 16 years agoHokay, So, I'm trying to take the FCP tutorial on how to use Color. I am running a G5 2.0 GHz dual processor PowerMac, with a GeForce 6800 Ultra AGP graphics card and 7 GB of RAM. I select a 55 second sequence. The media is all on an eSATA RAID 0, and it's all DV, so the drive should be plenty fast. First, I tried just sending it to Color. But, I get this "Importing Final Cut Proby Benjamin Meyer - Color Re: Unable to "Send to Color" from FCP - 16 years agoIs there an answer for this issue? I am having the same problem, working off a 55 second DV sequence on an eSATA RAID 0, on my dual 2.0 G5 PowerMac with a high-end graphics card. The "Importing Final Cut Pro XML" spinner just keeps spinning. Any advice?by Benjamin Meyer - Color FXBuilder - 16 years agoDoes anybody know of a decent tutorial to learn how to use FXBuilder? Thanks!by Benjamin Meyer - Café LA Re: Transitional templates - 16 years agoThis is a really important thing for Apple to figure out. Because, it can never be taken seriously as a broadcast editing platform until it does. For better or for worse, fancy whoosh is a key element of a great deal of modern day television.by Benjamin Meyer - Motion Transitional templates - 16 years agoOkay, So, last night, I got all excited about motion templates. I'm cutting a couple of shows for E!, in the coming months. For some reason, they are doing these shows on FCS. E! is all about the transitional wooshes. On Avid, this is easy, because the senior editors have created transitions by imbedding effects in the slug tracks, and then turning those into their own sequences. The othby Benjamin Meyer - Motion new book? - 16 years agoHi, Mark Last night at the meeting, you said that you would have a new book coming out that goes into the same depth as what you were talking about. Is that going to be a new version of the same book (Apple Pro Training Series: Motion 3), or will it be an advanced supplement to that book, like "Apple Pro Training Series: Motion 3 Advanced Supplement"? In other words, should I waiby Benjamin Meyer - Motion Re: DVCPro HD aspect ratio - 16 years agoOk. So, if FCP is set to 960x720, and it is showing me an image in 1280x720, then should I set Motion to 960x720, and expect FCP to stretch it, or should I set Motion to 1280x720? Or, should I do my work at 1280x720, then switch to 960x720 before I export, and everything will get squeezed? I'm confused because the 960x720 HDVPro 720p30 setting in FCP automatically gives you a 1280x720 imagby Benjamin Meyer - Motion DVCPro HD aspect ratio - 16 years agoHi, I'm editing a project in FCP in DVCPRO HD 720p60, 960x720 frame size, and 960x720 pixel aspect. I do not have the sequence or the clips set to anamorphic. But, my frame size is 16x9. In Motion, I set the project to those same specs, and I get a 1.33 aspect ratio on my project. Why is this? How do I get around this? Thank you!by Benjamin Meyer - Motion Re: WMV sampling rates problems - 16 years agoIn case nobody has noted this, yet, Flip4Mac actually has information about the "inconsistent audio rates" error posted. See It has to do with the latest version of Quicktime. Supposedly, they are working on it. In the meantime, they have a suggested workaround which I have used, and which works just fine. Basically, you have to export to Mpeg-4 first, and then use Flip4Mac.by Benjamin Meyer - Café LA replicator question - 16 years agoHi, I have an image of a person that I want to replicate 50 times across a screen, animated out so that it starts with one person in the bottom right of the frame, and then the other 50 pop on, radiating out from the first, in 5 rows and ten columns. I've tried setting my origin to "bottom right," and that seems to do nothing. What other settings should I try? Thanks verby Benjamin Meyer - Motion Re: Looking for an ATI X800 XT AGP graphics card - 16 years agoYes, I have a standing order with them. They were due to ship me one last week, and then ATI once again postponed supplying the cards. Supposedly, they'll have them in a month. But, they've been a month away from having them for about 8 months, now. So, the only way to get them is used. Anybody got one they want to part with?by Benjamin Meyer - lafcpug Market ATI X800 XT AGP graphics card - 16 years agoI've been searching for the X800 XT, the past few days. On eBay, they are going for just under $500, by the time the auction is over. And nobody has them in stock. Does anybody have any tips as to where I could find one of these? Is there at least some AGP knock-off of the original that will do as good a job? I'm working on a dual 2.0 GHz G5 PowerMac with PCI-X slots. Right now, I have the GeForce FX 5200 with 64 MB of VRAM. I've heard that upgrading one's graphics card can make Motion work a lot better and faster. It's been really slow and buggy for me. So, I'm thinking of getting a better graphics card. I have no idea why that worked. Possibly, it was just all the re-starts, and the re-installs of ProApps Update 4.0. I don't know. Now, none of my Pro apps will open. I tried throwing away my preferences. Any ideas? Thank you!by Benjamin Meyer - Café LA Re: Film festivals - 17 years agoYou can, however, have up to, I think, two minutes of your film on the internet. That, at least, was the limit I ran into, if I recall correctly. It may be different with different networks. Obviously, the limits are intended to allow you to promote your work with a trailer or other sampling.by Benjamin Meyer - Café LA Re: Film festivals - 17 years agoIn my experience, you have to copyright your film with the Library of Congress. You will need a clear chain of title linking you or your LLC to the name on the L of C copyright. You will also need to submit synch licenses for all of your music, SAG contracts for any SAG actors (if you have v/o or reenactments), the right to show each and every image in each and every frame; and you will be requby Benjamin Meyer - Café LA |
