i dont want to force you into using something you don't want to, but reading this blog has been interesting for me. Cheers Nick but I applied for a refund and it was approved an hour later. I'm sorry but I just don't get this. You make a new keyword collection Shift-Cmd-K. You name it, just like a bin or folder. You drag clips into it. It is EXACTLY the same, albeit the keyboard shortby eyeseesound - Café LA - X

There was no need to address it Tom. You are right. At an instinctive level I do hate it now (but hey, I at least tried with an open mind, it just doesn't seem to be more sensible than stupid) and I've just applied for my refund, so no worries there. Though my point about keywords was it took a lot longer than dragging clips into a folder. So you can't drag them into a folder. You have to keywby eyeseesound - Café LA - X

Eyeseesound: So how long have you been working with this app before you made up your mind to ditch it? Just curious. Not trying to start something. Michael Horton eyeseesound, you know Izzyvideo has free training on FCPX? Back to the OP- if you haven't given it a proper shot, give it a good try. Er, this is just f***ing ridiculous. I won't even explain why, but this is just really f***ing ridiculous and illogical and it looks like a £20 editing app with training wheels for people who want to edit but can't edit but want to believe they can edit and have a couple of weeks to give it a go before they realise they can't edit and get back to doing something they have real aptitude for... anby eyeseesound - Café LA - X

Cut multiple clips at once You can use the Blade command to cut primary storyline clips and connected clips simultaneously. In the Timeline, select the clips you want to cut. Move the skimmer to the frame where you want to cut. Choose Edit > Blade (or press Command-B). The selected clips are cut at the skimmer position. it appears that when you have the clips as a list, the noise pollution goes away when you scrub over the three clips shows at the top of the clip area (thank the lord for that small mercy. Still can't stop it from making noise over the timeline.by eyeseesound - Café LA - X

Ha ha, so I figured i'd have a look. First quick play brings up some questions. 1) So it appears that whenever i move the mouse across the timeline, it shows a pink line that is constantly scrubbing along the footage. Same when i move the mouse over the clips. Constantly scrubbing. Constantly blaring out FF audio. Please tell me I can stop this, I already want to punch something. 2) I wantby eyeseesound - Café LA - X

Cheers Jude. Sounds like a plan... er, any chance of pointing me (or anyone pointing me) to exactly what you (Jude) means... and how to do it. Thanks Harry So, to follow up, do I ever get CTR-G to work properly again? Also, although 6.0.2 is separate from 10.6.8 the detailed info on their site says that it includes all the improvements from 10.6.1 onwards and I believe 10.6.6 bundled in thby eyeseesound - Café LA

Hi there, ok, since I am always wary of installing software updates and I read the sticky thread about the 10.6.6 & Pro Kit 6.0.2 update causing issues I haven't updated anything in a while, but I'm wondering if I should. My question is whether there are still problems and if so with what and what is the workaround (I have seen the restoring an older version of pro kit page linked to inby eyeseesound - Café LA

There are obviously 3 parties on this thread. Pro-FCPX, No-FCPX and let's wait an see-FCPX. I would suggest that each of the parties have valid perceptions on something that has so far been 'teased' but is also rooted in experience of Apple and their software to greater or lesser degrees. It seems to be the No camp are genuinely worried that their pro editing software is about to hit a roadbloby eyeseesound - Café LA - X

At first the editor was upset because his editing job was threatened by this thing called FCPX. A few of the Apple fanboys took a liking to FCPX and decided to edit their family home movies on it because it was cool to tell their friends they could use FC, while a few others decided to install it on their Mac Books and venture into undiscovered lands of paid work because now they were armed withby eyeseesound - Café LA - X

I believe my opinion is valid in as much as I use the software the way I use it and to a degree of success that is more than palatable to me, cheers. Quicktime X didn't do what I needed it to do and it was imposed upon me. Sure, maybe it is all you say but it had no Pro features so the most fundamental part of what I needed it to do as a Pro App, it didn't. if it is a "postcard that Apple seby eyeseesound - Café LA - X

"It's not a "Pro App" without Tape I/O Control IMHO. Even though we we have prediminantly converted most of our clients to accept Digital Delivery, we still crank out hundreds of tapes a year to the stubborn clients (some still taking Beta / DigiBeta). It takes me ages to getting round to installing updates, plus i never trust them these days until you guys have done them months before and said they're ok. Just read this and am glad. By the way, you del with multiple crashes on a weekly (and sometimes daily) basis, then you try and keep your cool when discussing the direction Apple has taken. I may be small fry, but i still work my arse off and don't take too kindly to not being able to click on clip in the timeline in order to tweak a parameter, and it crashes. Seems like a few have exactly the same issues though. I am small fry. I use one internal 1TB hard drive for my rushes and it always has more than 10% space on it. I don't send 100GB of render files into anything. Everything worked fine till FCP 7. I stand by my swipe. Make it work properly, that's what I paid for. Dear Steve Jobs, instead of telling us the next update of FCP 'will be awesome' how about making the £5000 system I currently own bloody work properly? Oh, that's right, you've got all your coders working on the new iArse. Stick your head up it and pretend your a tech guru to your friends and family, only £666 for the 500meg version with a scaling price for useful capacity versions that mby eyeseesound - Café LA

Will try that Andrew thanks. Not sure why my moaning about FCP7 will stop people helping me, unless a) Jobs is on here posting fixes or b) blind Apple acolytes are on here and take offence. If you sat through the last year of my Mac life I don't believe it was anything to do with basic maintenance... but hey, neither you, nor I, nor in fact the genius at the Regent Street Apple store, can provby eyeseesound - Café LA

Thing is it looks like a it's been putting the last x weeks/months of renders in there, so moving them and re-rendering is fine, but won't it just try and put them back in there again? I hate trashing my preferences, my backup version is always so old because i forget to make copies when i alter my favourites etc., that it's so soul destroying having to reset up FCP... plus since FCP7 it seemsby eyeseesound - Café LA

Bingo... thanks guys. It has put the audio and video renders inside the Apps folder. When I did 'show package contents' I have a MacOS folder, inside that I have Audio Render, Plugins and Render files. In my system setup I have the scratch disc set to my internal harddrive i want it to... i noticed the waveform cache, thumbnail cache and autosave i hadn't changed and they were saving to myby eyeseesound - Café LA

Hey, bit confused. I partitiion my drives and (perhaps stupidly) allocated on 250gb to my apps folder/desktop. Recently the capacity has been caned so i was looking around to find out why and in my apps folder FCP7 is 136gb My project file and rushes etc are on a different internal drive and from a quick google it looks like it shouldn't be more than a few gb big, so why is it so bloated anby eyeseesound - Café LA

Just to add... for 7 years now I have slowly carved a niche for myself making video (not weddings!!!) with FCP, and for 7 years i've been glad and grateful lafcpug exists. WHENEVER i have a question i can't resolve through googling it, I come here. And sometimes I come here just to read posts and learn something. resolved: ok, don't know what was wrong, but i guess a conflict happened. In the end I turned off all my FX Factory plugins, emptied my plugins folder, removed MB Looks and started putting the plugins back into my folder. They all appeared, including the Eureka one's I'd forgotton about and the Nattress etc. Turned on the FX Factory effects and all still good. Reinstalled MBL and allby eyeseesound - Café LA
Upgrade: some FCP filters not in the effects folders - 14 years ago
Had an enforced upgrade to snow leopard. Have spent the last 2 days reinstalling everything and trying to see if it all works (mostly seems fine so far). But some of my third party filters are not showing up in the effects tab, eventhough it appears they should work. Nattress Film Effects transitions don't show up at all, and only the Chroma and Deinterlace filters show up. I mailed graemeby eyeseesound - Café LA
