I've searched this one extensively and have come up with tons of bad information and nothing useful. Hoping Gerard or Jude or someone has an answer; The task at hand: How do I create a 24p BluRay that doesn't stutter but plays smoothly in PAL land (Europe)? No menus, no addedd content, just a simple autoplay screener. Working in Encore is painful, but I can get a BluRay burned if I createby ClayC - Café LA

Answered my own question to a large extent: With the Sequence pane selected and NOT the Markers tab (jeez...but Ok...it works) the path is File > Export > Markers. From there you can export either a .csv file which can be opened in excel and printed out easily enough or shared by any common method. Or, export an .html containing the thumbnails, timecodes and notes from the Markers tab.by ClayC - Adobe Premiere Pro CC

What ways are there to share all this great marker information that PrCC can create? For example, I'm working on a 25 minute show that is going to get the full original composed music treatment plus Foley's and pro sound studio mix. Ideally, I'd like to set markers, add my comments re music and sound fx events, and then export the markers tab which also contains all the TC info. Question iby ClayC - Adobe Premiere Pro CC

Almost forgot: mFire, mSmokes from MotionVFX. 150 2K Smokes for $99. Same price for Fire. At $0.66 cents per clip, that even beats $4. You have to look under plugins on the motionvfx.com site to find them, but they are there.by ClayC - Café LA

Hi all, I'm beefing up my compositing archive for an upcoming job. We've tons of dusts, burns, leaks, bokeh etc., but I still need more smoke and fire. I'll be using the smoke for displacement maps and atmoshpere, and the fire for big, lush walls of it rather than bursts or explosions. What are your favorite sources? I've gotten some from Pond5, but it's a bit pricey for what I need. Anyby ClayC - Café LA

Learning the Premiere way, quite used to it now. It takes a little effort at first, but after a job or two you'll be fine. Its all very similar. Just different. But I think down the road the better choice as Premiere continues to improve in leaps and bounds whereas FCP7, sadly, is history.by ClayC - Adobe Premiere Pro CC

Starting with the Pr default keyboard shortcut set: you mean zoom or fit timeline with = or - or backslash keys? None of those work for me, although I'm using an Apple German keyboard. If I remap the zoom to sequence commnad, for example, then it does work. I've been using the zoom tool to marquee an area to zoom into. Works well enough. This is all great stuff, especially the drag clip to new item trick to instantly match clip and new sequence settings. I'm still missing two of my FCP favorites, or have they taken care of these too: 1. Shift Z to fit the timeline to the timeline window. 2. Select a clip, then hit X to set in and out points (this works). Then hit something like shift cmd z to fit that to the timelineby ClayC - Adobe Premiere Pro CC

If the Pr/SG/Pr roundtrip works as advertised, then there is a huge advantage vis a vis a Pr/Resolve workflow. Although, the new Resolve v10 is equally as awe-inspiring, and SG (imho = colorista pro, at the risk of taking a lot of flak) needs some help. It will be interesting to see what Adobe has done with it. The last time I looked at it about a year ago there was some key functionality soreby ClayC - Adobe Premiere Pro CC

If I were starting from zero today I'd be thinking seriously about going with Creative Cloud on a PC. I would also add DaVinci 10 to the package for grading and OnLine. It will coexist nicely on the same machine, just be careful with the System Requirements. Unless you're really devoted to the Mac like some of us are, myself included, PC's are at least worth a look. You'd be surprised. In my part of the world (Central Europe / Germany) scale is now the equivalent of approx. $35 an hour. Granted, the top end pros can charge more, but there are precious few of them and unfortunately there are plenty of people out there who will work for scale or less or even for free to get a foot in the door. At least Encore is still available and will continue to be supported, just no further development. Apple killed off DVDSP outright. If you have clients that are still requesting DVD's you can continue to supply them, knowing however that somewhere down the line they'll quite suddenly switch to file-based cloud or streaming solutions. Hey all, I need to get a suite up and running with MC7. Coupla questions: 1. Can FCP7, PPro CC, and Avid MC7 all live happily on the same machine? 2. Anybody running this on a 16GB RAM iMac? I'm liking everything about it too. I saw the touring Adobde Creative Days show here in Munich today, which centered primarily on the CC but showed highlights from all the main apps as well. Verrrrrrrrry impressive, tuned-in and forward-looking. They are far and away the software leader now. Apple still excels with the best OS, but Adobe has both the apps and the apps platform, hands down.by ClayC - Adobe Premiere Pro CC

Signed up a few days ago and absolutely love it. As a CS6 Production Premium user, I'm paying € 20 a month for the "complete" payment plan here in Europe. No more expensive than what I used to pay per year for upgrades, plus access to the entire realm of Adobe apps plus other services and tools which in total is worth far more than I could have even justified the expense for in theby ClayC - Adobe Premiere Pro CC

Less customization and more standardization will mean a lower price. The less options they have to provide, the more economical it will be for the majority of users. CUDA would mean NVidia, which is not part of the picture. For DaVinci, Grant Petty has a post up on the Blackmagic forum addressing the issue. For them, not a problem. Don't know about Adobe although I can't imagine that thereby ClayC - Café LA

The bull just crashed through the window of the china shop. The question was never could they, but rather would they? They surprised everyone and did. Nailed it on the form factor too. I was abolutely ready to jump to the dark side, but now I'm a fan again. It won't be cheap. I don't really care. This machine plus Blackmagic gear plus DaVinci Resolve plus CCloud and I'm solid for the fby ClayC - Café LA

No, not old news, read what I wrote. Update = developing news. The entire MacPro line was taken out of the stores in the EU today, well ahead of the March 1 date which was initially reported. Things are happening quickly now. It will be interesting to see where and how fast the story continues.by ClayC - Café LA

Update: as of today, all of the main Apple sites in Europe (checked UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Norway, Netherlands, Sweden) are showing the MacPro as "currently unavailable". No indication whatsoever as to what to expect next.by ClayC - Café LA

I don't know how things are elsewhere, but in my neck of the woods here in Europe, FCPX is of no interest. None of the editors, production companies, clients, post houses or film schools that I have regular contact with have adopted it. In fact, just the opposite. I'm not sure I'm getting all the details, but it sounds like you'd be much better off in DaVinci Resolve v9 than compressor. You would at least be able to synch audio, do conversions, maintain file names, and render out to individual clips. Are you up and running enough in DaVinci? Or if not, then bring someone in for a hour or so to show you how to wrangle clips, audio and set up the deliveby ClayC - Café LA

I second all the motions and emotions. For many years, this Forum was where I checked in -pretty much daily- for my regular dose of news, help, reality check, weird stuff and a good laugh. Since FCPX (damn those guys, I'm still angry about that), and after leaving FCP Studio-land for Production Premium (meaning not just changing my editing app but dropping Motion, Color, DVD Studio Pro and Soby ClayC - Café LA
