Re: Curious what direction LAFCPUGers are going? Remain with FCP or switch? - 12 years agoOur shop will probably stay in FCP7 til the end of the year and then we will evaluate what happens then. Since most of us have years of Avid experiences before FCP, I'm guessing that's where we will transition to unless something drastic happens with FCP X. I'm curious about Premiere especially since it works with our Blackmagic and AJA cards but Boston is pretty much a FCP or Avid town. I wonby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: Remembering In and Out points (ranges) in the Event Browser - 12 years agoExactly. A successful editing software is one that combines functionality with simplicity and though I'm still getting used to this new version, I'm not sure if this has that right combo yet.by Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA - X Re: Remembering In and Out points (ranges) in the Event Browser - 12 years agoThe favorites tab shows your favorite ranges, without any handles. That looks like a subclip to me. And you're right, the range selected is still active as long as you don't select another clip but that range goes away even if you select the same clip. That seems a bit too fragile for practical everyday use for me. But maybe I'm a troll of an editor, not a delicate little flower of an editor.by Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA - X Poor performance on MBP 2.53 Core2Duo - 12 years agoI didn't partition my MBP hard drive and installed FCP X onto my system HD. I'm am getting real poor performance in a SD project with DV footage. I am getting drop frames on playback sometimes and I tried the background noise removal on a clip and it drop frames every time I use the slider. Any thoughts? I'm on a MBP 2.53 Core2Duo, 4GB RAM. DV footage at 29.97. It's good if I want subclips. And given a subclipping situation, that method would indeed be good. That method iby Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA - X Re: Remembering In and Out points (ranges) in the Event Browser - 12 years agoI agree with Jude that the app should just remember ins and out. Favorites can be very helpful for sorting clips, takes, B-rolls and so on. But to use favorites as a way to remember in and out is just plain clunky and unacceptable. I understand Craig is trying to be helpful with his methodology. But overall, this behavior or lack of behavior is just plain bad design.by Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA - X Re: No Multicam makes X a no go for me. - 12 years agoI suspect you'll have to do it the old fashion way before multicam was introduced. Stack each camera up on a track and scale down the size. Go thru your show, cut, cut, cut, and then delete or turn off the cameras you don't need. Or wait for the next version.by Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA - X Re: Motion 5 pics - Apple Insider - 12 years agoFlabasha Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It does clearly show that all the processing > ingest features like automatic color balance, etc. > are disable-able options, in case anyone was > doubting I don't know how anyone was actually in doubt of that. If anyone here does, let me know your experience. Thanks!by Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Need recommendations on internal raid card on Mac Pro 2008 - 13 years agoI have an older 2008 Mac Pro and would like to replace the internal raid card in there. I have an older Highpoint and would like to use another manufacturer. There just doesn't seem to be that many options. The Apple card is expensive and slow so that's no good. Any suggestions? Thanks!by Chi-Ho Lee - Café LA Re: Freelancer Q:- Tape vs Tapeless projects . . . - 13 years agoDepends on the job. Long form docs, 90% tape. Especially natural history films - no one is pulling out a laptop to download cards/sticks in the middle of the Amazon or on a canoe or in Alaska. I personally know of a series in Alaska that was getting a ton of corrupt cards because shooters were downloading the cards correctly or removing the cards from the camera correctly.
