How do you mix down / flatten a multicam edit sequence in fcpx 10.3? - 6 years agoHow do you mix down / Flatten a Multicam sequence in FCPX 10.3? I made my edit choices, & want to commit to the edits, (5 streams @ 4k) my system is lagging badly. In FCP7, you could "commit to edit". I cannot find a way to do it in FCPX. Please Help. Half the graphics were done in motion (v4.0.3), and the other half was done in photoshop (CS5). Both were inputted into an animation sequence. The export from photoshop was an animation codec, and the effects from motion were exported in the native motion codec. The original footage was on mini-DV and looked crisp and clear, all in focus. They also have some standard DV footage. I only have the DVX 100b as a deck. I was wondering what would be the best capture preset so I wouldn't lose any information, and what would be the best sequence preset, knowing that I will be importing the standard def? I was told that since I had an older OS, I needed to wipe my drive and work off the newest OS. I cloned all my information before doing so. I have had no problems since. I have also opened those sequences and nested the clips. I need to edit in the field, with a bus powered drive. Has anyone tried it? I only need about 25 gig, but I need it external, as I will have to leave it with them for a few days. Any suggestions / thoughts? I have used it as an external drive just fine, but never for cutting. They make noises that scare me. I can hear the fans revving up and down at times when there should be no noise. They spin down too often. I will be watching a sequence, and if I am not on a drive constantly, it will give me a dropped frame warning - but it is only cause the drive is sleeping.
