Re: MacPro 3.1 (early 2008), Radeon 5770 or 5870 and FCPX? - 12 years agoWait a minute. Don't we need Open GL support for Final Cut Pro X? To my knowledge these cards don't support it. Maybe I'm completely wrong. I don't know much about graphic cards but I started researching and I have the same Mac Pro (early 2008) I was thinking about the NVIDA Quadro 4000 for Macby janbecker - Café LA - X Re: Zen and the Art of FCPX Understanding - 12 years agoI agree. The actual editing process is easier. Just look at the new trimming tools. They are genius. The whole workflow is faster. I wonder what's coming next. Can't wait what Red Giant is going to announce on Monday.by janbecker - Café LA - X Which graphics cards are recommended for Final Cut Pro X? - 12 years agoI'm in the process of downloading Final Cut Pro X and I'm truly exited. I have a 2008 Mac Pro with 8GB of memory and am going to order 8GB more. Now I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card. This card also should support Adobe After Effects. Right now I have the NVIDA GeForce 8800 GT. I wouldn't mind to drop some money. Maybe $800. I'm going to work in motion and hopefully with some RED footby janbecker - Café LA - X My client wants to edit my footage on AVID - 13 years agoToday I shot footage on my T2i and imported it into FCP to sync the sound. I'm not going to do the edit. They are actually doing that job somewhere in Texas on an AVID system. What kind of file should I send them? What's the best for them? Should I have left the footage untouched and not synced and just send the the originals or is ProRes or H.264 cool in Avid?by janbecker - Café LA Re: Exporting FCP sequence into After Effects CS5 without expensive software - 13 years agoNo I can't. I think it's my lack of knowledge with AE. I don't want to waste your time. I have to sit down and study. - and I decided to finish my project in FCP. It works just fine. Thank you, Janby janbecker - Café LA Re: Exporting FCP sequence into After Effects CS5 without expensive software - 13 years agoMy FCP sequence appeared as a composition in AE. When I wanted to apply Magic Bullet Looks to one clip it said "Invalid Filter". Then I tried to apply Magic Bullet Misfire Grain and it worked. As it did with some other Filters. I have the feeling it's an AE problem or just me since I'm new to AE.by janbecker - Café LA Re: Exporting FCP sequence into After Effects CS5 without expensive software - 13 years agoI figured it out. Went to the Adobe website and they told me to put the script with the other ones. Applications/AdobeCS5/Scripts Duuh. Other question: I wanted to apply Red Giant Looks to one of the clips and it said "invalid filter". What to do?by janbecker - Café LA Re: Exporting FCP sequence into After Effects CS5 without expensive software - 13 years agoIt looks good ont their website and they say it should work with CS5. But I'm too retarded to make it work: When I go to File/Scripts it won't show up. How did you install yours? I just downloaded the file, unzipped it and double clicked. It opened the program but it doesn't seem to be integrated in AE.by janbecker - Café LA Re: Exporting FCP sequence into After Effects CS5 without expensive software - 13 years agoCool, I'll check it out. Will report.by janbecker - Café LA Exporting FCP sequence into After Effects CS5 without expensive software - 13 years agoHi there, I'm the proud owner of CS5 now, never worked with Adobe stuff before. So I want to export my FCP sequence into AE without purchasing extras software like Automatic Duck or the Boris XML. I have no effects in the sequence besides time remapping and opacity setting changes. What's the way to go?by janbecker - Café LA Re: Big problem render time and crashing - 13 years agoI did. Not anymore. I think those enormous no-nos are my daily routine. It's working much better now, thank you. Would you mind sharing with me what the most important things are when I set up everything before I start my next project, or maybe point me towards a good resource for that? I would be very grateful (which I already am) Janby janbecker - Café LA Re: Big problem render time and crashing - 13 years agoOkay Derek - thanks so much. Rendertime is now down from 9 hours to 1 1/2 hours and I'm 50% through. No crash yet. Just from moving 60GB from my System drive! I'm pretty sure it could go faster if I would know more about perfect system setup and media organizing as well as everything about timlineformats. Could you recommend some tutorials/books/websites? All I have access to just giby janbecker - Café LA Re: Big problem render time and crashing - 13 years ago4GB of RAM, normally 6 but I had to exchange the 2GB. Otherwise 2008 Mac Pro 8Core, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT. I'm going to move some stuff off the systemdrive immediately.by janbecker - Café LA Re: Big problem render time and crashing - 13 years agoThanks for your quick response Derek, RAM is okay, I checked the system monitor. My System drive is about 90% full. I have to admit I'm a self taught editor, and I wrote, directed, produced that infomercial so I try to be on top of everything which is hard if not impossible. The budget is too low to hire an editor. I'm assuming having different formats in the timeline might be my main isby janbecker - Café LA Big problem render time and crashing - 13 years agoHi everybody, I normally edit 30 second and 60 second spots and I really never care about format that much. Normally I choose the format for the timeline the live action was shot it which is DVCProHD 720 30p most of the time. For backgrounds I use FCP and Motion, for the Graphics Motion. I pile different formats on top of each other and let my Mac Pro 8Core 3,1 take care of it. Never a probleby janbecker - Café LA Re: Paste attributes? - 13 years agoThank you so much for the detailed info. I ended up just dropping the new media onto the old. Couldn't believe it was that simple.by janbecker - Motion Paste attributes? - 13 years agoHi there, I need to replace same images in a motion project. Is there a way to just replace the image but keep the keyframes and all other attributes? In FCP you can paste attributes. I never did something similar in Motion. I'm using Motion 3. Thanksby janbecker - Motion Re: DVCProHD footage to SD broadcast - 14 years agoAJA also takes care of the cropping?by janbecker - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion DVCProHD footage to SD broadcast - 14 years agoHi there, I tried different things so far and I was never happy, so please help. Here is the situation: It's a 15min infomercial shot on DVCProHD 720 30p and it has to delivered for different stations in SD. Very likely Beta SP but I also hope for digital delivery. I'm going to also use Motion for the Graphics. 1)What are the best Audio/Video settings? 2)What are the best Sequencby janbecker - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Flash video problem - 14 years agoHi everybody, I shot and edited this video in DVCProHD 720 30p. The web designer in in India couldn't use my H.264 file I sent him and requested a flash video. I used the program ffmepegX to convert the file and sent out the best possible resolution. Then they said it was too big. So I used Quicktime to convert it to the smallest possible size. Now they sent this to my client (insby janbecker - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Re: How to avoid render times - 14 years agoQuoteHaving to render the ENTIRE spot for a change in a single graphic is odd I think if you change or move even a small piece of graphic the underlying layer appears and requires rendering again. Does this make sense? Shouldn't it be rendered already from the first time?by janbecker - Café LA Re: How to avoid render times - 14 years agoQuoteFive seconds with Activity Monitor will give empirical answers to the "do I need more RAM" question. Good one!by janbecker - Café LA Re: How to avoid render times - 14 years agoAs 'strypes' says, I think 4GB is all that FCP needs. I also read a study recently that although the MacPro can take up to 32GB, the best bang for the buck ends at 8GB. From what I know and experienced 2GB more would make a difference for you and the price tag is not too steep.by janbecker - Café LA Re: How to avoid render times - 14 years agoI use unlimited RT. Maybe I should just pre-think the visuals more. So I have less adjustments to make. For example I resized the lower third which forced me to render the complete spot again instead of deciding on the size before I rendered the first time. Anyway, how can I pimp my MacPro? How much more RAM would make sense?by janbecker - Café LA How to avoid render times - 14 years agoHi everybody, I'm editing a 60 sec spot with DVCProHD material and I'm adding some motion graphics which I'm creating with FCP and LiveType. To see the result of the changes I make I need to see the video in realtime and good quality which means I have to render a lot. And it takes up so much time. I always thought I have a quick system (the 2008 8-core MacPro with 6GB of RAM) but I must saby janbecker - Café LA excess luma - 14 years agosimple question: is there a tool to automatically get rid of excess luma and make it broadcast safe?by janbecker - Café LA 4:3 overlay for 16:9 video? - 14 years agoHi everybody, I want to edit my spot in the original file format DVCPro HD 1080 60i but my first version is going to be a SD one. I want to achieve this by running it through Compressor while cropping the sides. During my edit I would love to have a 4:3 overlay including a 4:3 title and action safe zone so I can see what I end up with. Is there a way to do this?by janbecker - Café LA |
