To render or not to render? - 12 years agoI have an hour sequence (1920x1080p, 29.97, pro res LT) where I used the 3 way color corrector on nearly every clip. The render bar for the entire project is green. If my goal is to export a self contained quicktime Which would result in the faster export? 1. Ignore the green and export the quicktime 2. Render green in FCP, than export self contained quicktime I usually go wiby Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Render times keep getting longer - 12 years agoHow full is your harddrive?by Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Getting The Shaft on a Payment - 12 years agoAdd another "production company" to the list Is this a company that is an independent contractor to ESPN?by Joe Riggs - Café LA Are there any projects/senerios where Final Cut X would be faster than FCP7? - 12 years agoQuestion in subjectby Joe Riggs - Café LA - X Re: Mac OS X Lion, New MacBook Air & Mac Minis - 12 years agoI keep hearing about them dumbing down Lion and it being automated ala FCPX, is there a list of features that are gone/automated from 10.6?by Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Producers that don't pay!!!!! - 12 years agoWhat is this the editor wall of silence? I didn't have a chance to see the doc Jeff posted but people like this need to be exposed. There should be a list of these deadbeats so others don't get screwed. The reason this has happened to every one of us is because there is little to no consequence for the producers, especially if they get all the deliverables. If necessary, withholding the delivby Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: What destination results in the fastest export? - 12 years agoI should have specified just out of the three options in the original post.by Joe Riggs - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion What destination results in the fastest export? - 12 years agoWhen selecting a destination in Compressor, is it faster to export to your system drive, source, or a 2nd external drive?by Joe Riggs - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Re: XML from Premiere 5.5 to FCP 7 - media offline - 12 years agoThanks Strypes. Fortunately, it's not my drive, this company is going to have to rename 100+ drives if they want to use this workflow.by Joe Riggs - Café LA XML from Premiere 5.5 to FCP 7 - media offline - 12 years agoI created a simple project in CS5.5, using straight cuts, exported as a FCP XML, opened in FCP 7 and all media is offline. The error report shows "Unable to find file located at <pathurl> "file://localhost/Volumes/DRIVE%20#110..." for all media. All footage is on an external drive (DRIVE #110), never moved the media and I saved the project files (Premiere and FCP and xml fby Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Multiple formats - 12 years agoI have 60i footage I need to convert to 30p (29.97 progressive), in order to that do I simply bring it into compressor, change framerate and export? Are there better methods? Thanksby Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: The effect "Looks" failed to render... - 12 years agoThis is a known bug that occurs with dual monitors, if you unplug your 2nd monitor you will be able to render. However, has anyone found a permanent fix for this? I'm sick of unplugging my monitor.by Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Calling all Avid experts - 12 years agoJeff, That seems like a viable option if I ever need to do this again. This time I was able to figure out what project it was in, loaded up that project, found the correct sequence and exported that sequence.by Joe Riggs - Avid Media Composer Calling all Avid experts - 12 years agoI have a single .mxf (avid format, not sure which one) that I'd like to convert to quicktime to be able to edit in FCP. After doing some research it seems that without a third party plugin, my only option is to bring it into Avid (I am using MC 5.5) and export to QT through the program. This is my first time using Avid and I can't believe how difficult it is to import a clip, I get "you cby Joe Riggs - Avid Media Composer Re: OH . . . MY . . . If I can find a copy, should I upgrade to Studio 3 just to have the last version? - 12 years agoAs long as FCP 7 works on Lion you should be good for a couple more years.by Joe Riggs - Café LA - X Re: OH . . . MY . . . GOD - 12 years agoEnjoy Premiere, it's a great app, that is way underrated in the "pro" community. To smooth the transition you can set your keyboard to the default FCP shortcuts by going to In Mac OS (Adobe Premiere Pro CS5), choose Edit > Keyboard Customization From the Set menu in the Keyboard Customization dialog box, choose the set of keyboard shortcuts you want to use in Premiere Pro:by Joe Riggs - Café LA - X Re: X is here (also new Motion and Compressor) - 12 years agoThe good news is you can import from other applications like imovie and iphotoby Joe Riggs - Café LA - X Re: No Multicam makes X a no go for me. - 12 years agoJesus, what were they thinking?by Joe Riggs - Café LA - X Re: Twixtor, how to make it as painless as possible? - 12 years agoThank you sir.by Joe Riggs - Café LA Twixtor, how to make it as painless as possible? - 12 years agoI've been trying out twixtor for slow motion, I like the results but it is a real pain. As soon as I apply it to a clip and I attempt to tweak that clip, my computer slows to a crawl. Viewing the results is a long and arduous process as I have to render to see the results every time I adjust something.
