Re: Doubling the duration of the all items on the timeline - 11 years agoGreat tip Jude. Is there a way to check the anamorphic box in the browser for multiple clips at once?by Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: SCRATCH DISKS LOST - 11 years agomedellinemil, You could do a search for the footage. Let's say you captured your footage to .mov, you could search all your drives for footage with with that file extention. You'll have to wade through the results but in the end you'll at least know if your footage is on any of your drives.by Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Devastating issue that makes XML to Premiere worthless? - 11 years agoRuss, That's good to know, just to confirm you were using double system sound that was sunk in FCP?by Joe Riggs - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Devastating issue that makes XML to Premiere worthless? - 11 years agoDoees anyone know if this issue has been resolved with CS6?by Joe Riggs - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Deleted project file...YIKES! - 11 years agoHi, A buddy of mine was working pro bono on a project that has been on hiatus (1 year). It was not clear if it was ever going to get finished. So 3-5 months ago, he deleted the media files including the PROJECT FILE and autosave...really dumb move. Now the producer wants to finish it, the producer has the media files but is there any way to get that project file back? Data Rescue or sendby Joe Riggs - Café LA Is it possible to fix out of focus shots? - 11 years agoDealing with some talking head footage that is soft. I was wondering what the best method is to fix shots that are out of focus, other than the standard sharpening filters? I came across this http://www.scribd.com/doc/53744536/41/How-to-Repair-Out-of-Focus-Shots but I'm unsure on how to seperate the luminance and color channels, would this be done in AE?by Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Which software to learn and use for grading? - 11 years agoStrypes, Thanks for your response. If the prices below are correct for purchasing just the software than Resolve is the only affordable one for me. Resolve 9 - $1000 Baselight - $50k??? Scratch - $6000? Lustre - Can't locate a price. Why are baselight and scratch so expensive? Does Resolve handle popular native files formats like RED R3D and ARRI Raw in realtime? Eventby Joe Riggs - Café LA Which software to learn and use for grading? - 11 years agoI would like to get away from Apple's Color and choose a new piece of software for conforming/grading and become fluent in it. I'm debating between Resolve, Scratch, Lustre and Baselight, any thoughts on which one to go with and why?by Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: billing rates/freelance charges - 11 years agoI'm about an hour away from a pretty active film/video industry and most of the jobs I book are in the $25-30/hr range, even at small post houses. I'd like to make double that and occasionally I do but not often enough for me to turn down jobs within that lower range. The rates quoted by others is inspiring and my goal is to eventually make $500/day. Besides increasing my skill set (which I aby Joe Riggs - Café LA Questions for a colorist - 11 years agoTypically, would a client sit in with you as you color or would you do a first pass and then have the client come in? What are the things you need to discuss with the client before hand (other than how to deliver the drive, project), I'm thinking more creative, like do they want a cool or warm look, etc... Color vs Devinci resolve? Thank youby Joe Riggs - Color Re: billing rates/freelance charges - 11 years agoWhat are everyones thoughts on half day vs full day rates? Do you charge a higher rate for a half day to entice them to book you for a full day?by Joe Riggs - Café LA Weird timeline crash - 12 years agoAs I was editing, I started to notice some strange behavior, stuttering, pinwheel appearing, so as soon as the pinwheel stopped, I saved. Maybe 5 seconds after that FCP crashed and I had to force quit. Now, when I open the project, the footage at the beginning of my sequence (which I working on at the time I saved), either disappeared or for some reason is not showing in the timeline, the footageby Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: RS422 & 422(LT) - 12 years agoWhat about if the orginal footage is from a 5D/7D? Would you reccomend eschewing Pro Res LT and going back the original .h264 for the grade?by Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: 720p 60fps - 12 years agoIt will result in smooth slow motion once you conform it to 23.97.by Joe Riggs - Café LA - X Re: Out of sync sound when exporting FCP 5d footage - 12 years agoEthan, I was that editor...j/kby Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Upgrading to Lion - New OS coming this summer. - 12 years agoI'm currently running Snow Leopard in 64bit, so are there any benefits in upgrading to Lion or the forthcoming Mountain Lion for editing (speed, stability)? I watched the video and was not impressed, I don't have an ipad or iphone, is there a compelling reason to upgrade?by Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: HD camcorder recommendation for FCP 6? - 12 years ago422 HQ is available in FCP6 and I don't notice much of a difference in image quality between the two. I'm not familar with those cameras you mentioned but cameras that record .mts files are usually AVCHD. Those .mts files are recoded into a folder structure. YOU NEED TO MAINTAIN THE FOLDER STRUCTURE in order for FCP to transcode it. Therefore, in log and transfer you would import the entireby Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: HD camcorder recommendation for FCP 6? - 12 years agoWill you be transcoding the raw footage to Pro Res? Transcoding to pro res allows fcp to deal with more complex formats (h264, .mts, etc) easily. If that is the case than most HD cameras will work fine. If you will be recording audio separately, and you don't need to record performances longer than 12 min, you could go with a DSLR that records video (60D, t2i,etc) the image is nice and some aby Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Am looking for a thread or an article telling me what I would miss from FCP if I go to Premiere - 12 years agoDon't know an article but just from user experience, everything mentioned in your first paragraph is in Premiere. Furthermore, it renders much quicker than FCP/Compressor. However minor, I find the lack of ability to select what attributes you would like to paste in paste attributes, and option up/down to move a clip to a different track annoying.by Joe Riggs - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Will FCP 7 upgrade From S.L. to Lion? - 12 years agoAre there any benefits in upgrading to Lion from Snow Lepoard in regards to the FCP 7 suite?by Joe Riggs - Café LA Ways to ged rid of hair on footage? - 12 years agoHi, I have some footage with a hair present in the middle of the frame, what are some options to get rid of it? I tried a free plug in (name escapes me at the moment) that is supposed to help by sampleing the pixels in the next or previous frame, however, the result wasn't satisfactory. I'm guessing this is a frame by frame job in AE.by Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Online upload storage solution? - 12 years agoI understand but I'm really trying to avoid the drive situation for many reasons. I'd like to try an online solution for one project and see how it works out. What about a ftp service or dropbox? I'm certainly willing to pay for a decent service.by Joe Riggs - Café LA Online upload storage solution? - 12 years agoHello, I'm starting a new gig where I will need to get footage from videographers all over the U.S. Often they will have 16-32gb of footage that they will need to send me. Instead of having them mailing it to me on a drive, there must be some online solution, where they could upload it to a secure site or "cloud" and I can download it. Preferably something where the upload/downloadby Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Devastating issue that makes XML to Premiere worthless? - 12 years agoYeah, that is what I'm doing from now on if I know I need to go to PPro at the start of a project. Unfortunately, for older FCP projects it's simply not worth it, unless you want to re-sync. I'm curious how Walter Biscardi is handling this as I believe he is using Ppro for his older FCP projects.by Joe Riggs - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Devastating issue that makes XML to Premiere worthless? - 12 years agoI sunk my audio in FCP using pluraleyes and linked the pristine audio with its corresponding video clip. When I XML into Premiere, the audio on the synced and linked clips revert to the camera audio. When two clips are linked, the audio file name changes to match the clip name, and I think this is the issue. Furthermore, it seems compressor gives me the best looking result. Any clues why? Most of the sequences originated in FCP but some were xml'd from Premiere. When the premiere sequences were brought in, the sequence settings did not match the FCP sequences and I changed them so they matched. However, when I combine all my sequences, the ones that originated from Premiere require re-rendering, unless I nest thby Joe Riggs - Café LA |
