Re: Do I need ref/Black burst generator with Kona 2 card? - 17 years agoI print to an A500 and an AJ HD1200a (serial) without reference using a Kona2 and a Kona3 all the time, no problems. You may want to insure that your tape has good black on it and check your reference settings on the deck, the input/ext ref switch in the pull out tray would be a good place to start, if that doesn't work go thru the menu items in the A500 there are a few reference settings there.by Joe Brown - Café LA Re: DVCPro Capture using AJHD1200a Firewire - 17 years agoThanks Jude. That got it.by Joe Brown - Café LA Re: DVCPro Capture using AJHD1200a Firewire - 17 years agoCan't do anything with the menu.by Joe Brown - Café LA Re: DVCPro Capture using AJHD1200a Firewire - 17 years agoWhen I put it on menu I get a message saying Menu Protected. I downloaded a manual for the 1200a and tried to unprotect the menu by pressing reset while in the menu mode. Nothing. Is there a dip switch or something? Sony was always bad about making it hard to get to the extended menus, maybe panasonic is doing the same or maybe I have a bigger problem.by Joe Brown - Café LA Re: DVCPro Capture using AJHD1200a Firewire - 17 years agoThanks Shane. I just got the deck used and didn't get a manual. The menu is locked. Can you tell me how to unlock it? None of the info I found was what I was looking for.by Joe Brown - Café LA FW Drives Any Preference - 18 years agoSorry I know this subject has been covered adnauseum here. I have a friend who wants to buy a 500G FW drive. I don't use FW drives so thought I would ask you guys what brand he should buy. From what I've gathered here he should stay away from Lacie. Much of this is driven by the market. Believe it or not some of the smaller markets pay better than New York or LA.by Joe Brown - Café LA Shared Storage - 18 years agoAnyone have any input re: shared storage? You can easily stripe as many as 8 drives and gain plenty of speed. Had a 3 drive unit (1.5tb) that I used for uncompressed SD with no problems at all. Guess it depends on your needs. If you think you'll need more than 400 or 500mbs then maybe it's worth the cost to invest in SCSI or Fiber channel. The monitor I see them trying to use as a replacement is the LMD1420. Haven't seen it in person. The specs don't look very good. It only has 640X480 resolution. I've seen the HDLink connected to a 23" Apple display that looked very good. For now I'm sticking with my CRT's.by Joe Brown - Café LA Re: importing emailed quicktimes - 18 years agoYou could always have your friend send you a compressed copy to use while you wait for the snail mail copy if you don't want to disrupt your work flow.by Joe Brown - Café LA Re: fcp & old school v intel - 18 years agoOut of curiosity is FCP 6 due out? If so any idea what new features it offers?by Joe Brown - Café LA Re: blurred Photoshop import - 18 years agoI've had the same experience. Use the anti-alias filter (video filters/stylize/anti-alias). It's a little slow to render and sometimes you have to play with the amount of anti-alias to get the best quality (more render time).by Joe Brown - Café LA |
