you can add marker in the Timeline with a keyboard stroke and write comments in the marker interface without stopping, I do it all the time. (check the Keyboard interface for the fonction, it's oddly called ... something like "Modify colored marker " if memory serve. then you can export the markers and... copy&paste ! Shane is right. You must pre-install QuickTime 7 with proper installer before install Fcp Studio 2009 (Fcp7) over Mavericks or Yosemite. But things won't go smoothly anyway. (Motion 4, Compressor 3) and forget the "old" QMaster. Youre better off with Compressor 4 and "actual" QMaster anyway. what is the original codec, resolution, frame rate ? Interlaced or not ? what do you mean by " converted to .mov " ? did you just rewrap them with something like ClipWrap ?by Francois - Café LA

Install Final Cut Studio 2009 (with Fcp7) on a PPC in possible if you twickle the installer to bypass a command included by Apple at the last minute to prevent people to do so. Don't expect performances... as Shane said, go with a cheap second hand MacTelby Francois - Café LA

@ Loren Of course, the problem is with 10.8 (Mountain Lion) fresh install. You need to upgrade your system from 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or 10.7 (Lion) with a Fcp Studio already working !by Francois - Café LA

As it's been said in priors threads on this forum you can update systems coming from Lion with FinalCut Studio (Fcp7 & Co) "already on it". But you'll never be able to make a fresh install of Mountain Lion or above and install correctly FinalCut Studio (Legacy) on that boot.by Francois - Café LA

Andy means the new MacPro of course. This FcpX .01 is definitely great for a huge segment of video work. But for long form project ... be it feature or documentaries I still can't figure how to manage those "big" timeline" without a proper line of audio tracks... with all that it takes... sound fx, versioning, etc Connected clips are great but not for that. Premiere CC7 is somehow what Fcp 8 could have been. Yes you could be up and firing sooner. Good reliable solution issued from last century. ( I don't like the editing tools and their lack of subtlety, but that's just me) FcpX is more like... Represent yourself in Europe around 1453, ok. Some guy just invented a new way to release books ! with the latest MacPro so far (Westmere) I experienced editing h.264 in an Apple ProRes Proxy sequence, switching to Fully 422 ProRes when editing done. and rendering. worked good for basic cutting and dissolving job with some jittering. you can begin like this if you don't need fancy FXs, animated graphs in the meantime take the 10 days to learn FcpX with proper training and... starby Francois - Café LA

• I used to install FinalCut Studio 2009 apps on PPC machines with a "hacked " installer. Fcp 7.0.0 (which I always considered as a "Fcp 6.5.0" ) is perfectly compatible with PPC machines. Apple just introduced a filter in the installer apparently at the last minute before release. You can bypass it with a trick, I can dig for it, but as Scott says... who cares anymoreby Francois - Café LA

If I want Motion 4 (because of a couple of live fonts and the round trip with Fcp7) it means I need to keep a way to boot on Snow Leopard, (or Lion... but Lion doesn't bring anything to the video pro)by Francois - Café LA

Yes there is an update problem. Last Fcp Studio 2009 won't even apply. Stays to Fcp 7.0 won't launch as 7.0.3 I guess this is the end of the road... so I keep a way to boot with Snow Leopard. (I still need Motion 4 for a couple of Live Fonts)by Francois - Café LA

In France we have a saying : Pourquoi faire simple quand on peut faire compliqué ? You work on Fcp7 ? Use Motion 4 ! Use the paint tool to recover your writed image . (as a matter of fact you can trace it with the mouse and "points" using the bezier shape tool, you will only use "Contour" of the Shape) it doesn't have to precise then apply Write On Behavioby Francois - Café LA
