Re: iMac vs. a Pro tower - 16 years agoApparently the @#$%& has hit the fan regarding iMovie 08. Users are hopping mad. A serviceable version 6 program was discarded for a version 1 program with limited capabilities in order to make it conform with iPhoto. Some nice interface functionality, if only so much hadn't been lost in the transition. Hopefully Apple won't take this brutal approach when they get around to upgrading FCP's usby Dave Hardy - Café LA Hope the Soundtrack team take a cue from the Motion team - 16 years agoThat re-mapable keyboard in Motion 3 is the cats ass, we want one in Soundtack too. Daveby Dave Hardy - Soundtrack Pro Does it take version 3 now to get remapable keyboard? - 16 years agoThat remapable keyboard in Motion 3 has really made my day. Not only aesthetically pleasing but also a terrific learning assist in getting up to speed on the app. I'm disappointed that the Soundtrack Pro team didn't pick up the up the ball & run with it as well. The guys on the Motion team deserve a pat on the back for making the new version so editor friendly. Not only motion templates iby Dave Hardy - Motion Re: Where is the preference file stored? - 16 years agoUser/Library/Preferences/com.apple.soundtrackpro.plistby Dave Hardy - Soundtrack Pro Re: Pro App Updates this afternoon - 16 years agoAlso for folks requiring AVCHD, that's now implemented throug Log & Transfer. Daveby Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: FCP 6 install - 16 years agoWhy not call them before the knock off today. Then leave the install process on over night. If when you get up in the morning it has installed, then at least you have a working system until the replacement disk arrives. Should be getting my upgrade tomorrow or Wednesday. I'll let you know how it goes. Daveby Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: Welcome to the Wonderful World of "Color" - 16 years agoPersonally I appreciated Webster dropping the U. It always seemed to me to be extra baggage to carry and without the extra letter seemed to be better balanced on the page. There are lots of words in English that could do with a revamp. Daveby Dave Hardy - Color Re: Located Missing Soundtrack Pro 2 Manuals - 16 years agoHi Sean, I posted the info on Creative Cows Soundtrack forum & the links come up somewhat differently. See if you can connect to the manuals from those links. The links above take me to the manuals. I'll try emptying cashe in Safari on my system to see if thats why I can have the above links work for me. Dave I'm comparing the Soundtrack Pro 1 manual with the version 2 (almost twiby Dave Hardy - Café LA Located Missing Soundtrack Pro 2 Manuals - 16 years agoAfter a bit of searching, I found out that these manuals do exist on Apple's website. They can be down loaded here. Daveby Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: I got a notice this morning that FCS2 is delayed until June 15+ - 16 years agoYou make me feel so young Cyrus. I've a tad over 3 yrs. to go before I make it into the 7th decade. Looking forward to the mental challenge of digesting all the new data in the Studio 2 upgrade. Hope there are hard copy manuals of Motion 3 & Soundtrack Pro 2 manuals. I like to mark them up extensively & take them with me to read on the bus , in coffee shops etc. Daveby Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: What Control Surface Do You Use? - 17 years agoI bought the Tascam 1084 as it has 2 midi i/o ports built in & so can control Motion as well as sound mixer in FCP & Soundtrack Pro. The flying faders are noise free Track select Solo & Mute work fine. Can get the Pan to work on all tracks if you use the Cubase control rather than Mackie. Daveby Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: i Book Pro - 17 years agoProbably best to wait 3 weeks & get the new stuff. Daveby Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: Super8 to HD - 17 years agoFlying Spot in Seattle seem to have the rep of doing the best Super 8 transfers in USA Nick Daveby Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: help! - 17 years agoProcess Menu 5th item from bottom Bounce Realtime to Action. Daveby Dave Hardy - Soundtrack Pro Re: Send to Sound Track Pro? - 17 years agoThere are 2 ways you can do this. Select the item in the timeline. 1. File/Send to/Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project. 2. Right Click (control click) on the item & from the contextual menu select Send to/Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project. Neither of these options will work if you are not working with a legal copy or have not installed the media files that come with Soundtrack Pro.by Dave Hardy - Soundtrack Pro Re: help! - 17 years agoYou can add reverb to a recording, it's next to impossible to remove it. The normal options are to go back to the location & redo the shoot or ADR. ADR is usually the more attractive solution & is one of the main reasons for the record function in Soundtrack Pro. You can do as many takes as necessary to get it right & cut & join together parts of different takes if necessary tby Dave Hardy - Soundtrack Pro Re: new macpros - 17 years agoI'm with you on that Jude. I was planning to buy a new Mac this week after the Keynote. Now I think I'll have to wait to see what happens at NAB. Its not going to affect my earnings one way or the other whether I get a new Mac before then. I'm also nervous regarding which of the Final Cut packages will get the axe at NAB if & when the rumored Final Cut Extreme is revealed. I'm betting thaby Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: How does one export separate sound tracks to STP? - 17 years agoIn the File Menu Send to/Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Project should do it. Daveby Dave Hardy - Soundtrack Pro Re: Ghost in the Machine Part Deux - 17 years agoTry clicking in the Canvas window & pressing Shift + Z. Daveby Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: new behaviour for OPTION+up/down arrow - 17 years agoI'm getting overwrite happening. I'd prefer bypas & go to track above. Daveby Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: How does one export separate sound tracks to STP? - 17 years agoSorry I misread the question. If what you want to do is bring in all 6 tracks from FCP into Soundtrack Pro, you choose File/Send to/Soundtrack Multitrack Project. That should import all 6 tracks as you had them laid out in FCP. Nick's recommendation will work for exporting the tracks out of FCP providing you have the appropriate card to handle more than to outputs at a time Daveby Dave Hardy - Soundtrack Pro Re: Is there A Solo button for Video like Audio? - 17 years agoActually it's Control + S Control + B will hide a clip similar to the Mute funtion for audio. Daveby Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: How does one export separate sound tracks to STP? - 17 years agoHi Vic, In Soundtrack Pro's timeline command click on each of the for tracks 1-6 to select them. Go to Export now & you will find that you now have an item called export selected tracks. In the bottom left corner of the window that pops up click make new folder & give it a name that will indicate what's in there. The path to finding your folder containing the tracks is Documents/Recorby Dave Hardy - Soundtrack Pro Re: soundtrack pro podcast? - 17 years agoNo, but I might consider doing one if there's a need in the community. Daveby Dave Hardy - Soundtrack Pro Re: Tascam FW-1082 setup question - 17 years agoTascam's documentation that comes with the unit is ridiculous. However they must be selling a fair number of these units to FCP users because if you have been to their web page recently you'll have noticed that they are bending over backwards to make this unit user friendly to FCP users. Lots of useful documentation their (tutorials). If you find that you can only do panning on tracks 1 &by Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: Tascam FW-1082 setup question - 17 years agoWorks fine on my 1082 are you sure that you sure that you have preview checked in Audio section of the clip settings tab. Daveby Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: Recording Audio to STPro using mBox - 17 years agoOK Betty I hooked up a microphone to my Tascam FW-1082 control surface & tried to see if I could duplicate the problem you are having. If I armed the track but did not also switch the record button on the transport controls at the bottom of the timeline into record mode, I didn't get any levels on the meters. With the record button selected in the transport meters worked & recording wasby Dave Hardy - Soundtrack Pro Re: Getting AVCHD video off Sony HDR-SR1 Camera - 17 years agoThere's this H264 AVC Decoder but its only Windows XP. Daveby Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: Getting AVCHD video off Sony HDR-SR1 Camera - 17 years agoStrange they should be Mpeg4 H264 files which Mpeg Streamclip handles with ease. I saw a posting from an SR1 user who claimed he was doing this. If I can locate the posting again I'll let you know. Daveby Dave Hardy - Café LA Re: I gotta have a real meter somewhere! - 17 years agoThat does nothing to address the basic problem that the programers didn't take the trouble to provide decibel meters on any of the pots in the mixer. This defeats the main purpose of the app. to provide a low cost mixing utility for the low budget film/video maker. Daveby Dave Hardy - Soundtrack Pro |
