Re: Sorenson vs. Compressor - 17 years agoNope. MpegStreamClip does not recognize the *.MTS format of the AVCHD video. I'm patient, and one of the days there will be codecs to convert this format to something FCP can use. I just keep looking. Thanks, Cyrusby CyWar - Café LA Sorenson vs. Compressor - 17 years agoQuestion: Will Sorenson Squeeze 4.5 Compression Suite be of any use to me for converting the AVCHD footage from the harddrive of my Sony HDR-SR1 camera? All the "streams" on the camera are named: 00000.mts; 00001.mts, etc., using the AVCHD codec (thanks Sony!). I tried, with no luck, a program called avc1Decoder. Additionaly, is this a better program than Compressor? It is about $500by CyWar - Café LA Re: AVCHD from Sony HDR-SR1 Camera - 17 years agoOy! avsforum.com is way over my head....!!! Thanks for your imput, anyway. I'll just keep waiiting. Sooner or later someone will come out with a simple package. It would be terrific if MPEG StreamClip did it. Again, thanks for your response.by CyWar - Café LA AVCHD from Sony HDR-SR1 Camera - 17 years agoAnyone aware of anything new having been released for getting the AVCHD (MTS and/or M2TS) footage off a Sony HDR-SR1 Camera in a form that can be edited in FCP? All the codecs/software I find are still WindowsXP based. Anything new out there that will run on my iMac?by CyWar - Café LA Re: FLV to MOV - 17 years agoDon't know if this will help you, but I quite often download files from Youtube via KeepVid. When I add the .flv suffix I can just drop them onto MPEG Streamclip and convert them to various other formats (QuickTime movie is one of them). I've converted to QT format often and the results are acceptable for playback on my Mac. Have not tried any of the HD or larger format conversions. What I'm asking is will the HD video produce better quality output for things like QuickTime movies? I don't want to produce HD output as most people don't have HD television or monitors.
