Re: OT: s-video or component for projector? - 17 years agoFirst off let me preface this by saying its work for a non-profit. The Dell projector is a 3000 lumins projector for $1100. It is hooked up to a sony DVD player and has the ability to accept composite, svideo, and component. I did the experimenting tonight and the svideo looked the best. The component was strange, where it looked good it was very sharp, but the artifacting was very noticeable andby kevin - Café LA Re: OT: s-video or component for projector? - 17 years agoDell, don't recall the model number. I guess I'll do some experimenting and see. It claims to be able to handle 1080i and 720p. we'll see. Kevinby kevin - Café LA OT: s-video or component for projector? - 17 years agoComing out of a DVD player, going into a projector, which is going to give me a better, sharper image? Thanx, Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Title Super causing jumps in background motion...HELP! - 17 years agoUse key frames to fade up and down. good luck! Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: HDV to DV sequence consolidation - 17 years agoHow are you viewing your footage? Do you have an NTSC monitor or are you viewing on the computer screen? What is your set up? How does the HDV footage look before you do anything with it?by kevin - Café LA Re: HDV to DV sequence consolidation - 17 years agoIts in the conversions area under settings. NTSC 16:9 anamorphic. Something like that. I'm not in front of FCP right now.by kevin - Café LA Re: HDV to DV sequence consolidation - 17 years agoThis is how I've done it so far... I export the HDV as a self contained movie. Pull that into compressor and downconvert using NTSC 16:9 anamorphic, then use that in my regular dv timeline. The footage looks fantastic. good luck! kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Need Footage Please Help If u can - 17 years agoI have some HDV footage of orchids, small water falls flowing into ponds, etc. Email me if this will work for you. I'll send you a HDV tape. Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: green screen - 17 years agoNope, I just was told magenta is even better, either is better than a straight light. I just did two interviews in front of of green screen and i wish I'd known before. With dvmatte garage it turned out good, but I wanted great! Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: green screen - 17 years agoYes, dv is the most difficult, but it can work. "a halo light from the back". Koz added a point a while ago that I'd wished someone had mentioned years before, use a orange filter on that back light and it will help separate the screen from your subject. Makes total sense when you think about it. Opposite side of the color wheel. Check out DV matte garage. I just used their filter forby kevin - Café LA clips out of sync - 17 years agoSomehow I've adjusted my clips and some have gone out of sync, only for 2 frames, buthow can I get them back in sync? The clips don't seem to want to slide over. Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: HDV general Error - 17 years agoAre you capturing to a second internal drive? Or a firewire drive? Sounds like you don't have enough room on your hard drive you are attempting to capture to. Are you doing batch capture or capture now? Try batch capture and see if it will do that. Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: What's Your Favorite Keyer To Use With FCP? - 17 years agoDV matte garage. Fantastic results for the price. Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: pen tool short cut? - 17 years agoOuch, you mean I have to think? OK, I'll figure it out. kevin PS; I'm an artist, painted the compound for the aussies for the Americas Cup here in San Diego in 2000?, along with painting a restaurant interior. Only negotiation I've ever done with a Foster's Lager as a requierment. I just have to visit someday, love to you folks! Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: pen tool short cut? - 17 years agoFor audio, I should have been more specific. Kevinby kevin - Café LA pen tool short cut? - 17 years agoIs there a pen tool short cut that will ad the points where the play head is sitting? Thanx, Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: SONY FX HD1 problems - 17 years agoSee above info by Mike Horton in other thread as well. Could be the way your naming your clips. kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: SONY FX HD1 problems - 17 years agoOk, start by trashing your preferences, Your logon>library>preferences> FCP preferences, throw them away and restart FCP, it will ask you for set up info and where you want the scratch disk to be. Set up will be as it was shot, HDV 1080i 60 or 50, its in the easy set ups, scratch disk you should select the folder of your show on the firewire drive. Then you should be good to go. Make suby kevin - Café LA Re: SONY FX HD1 problems - 17 years agoNeed more info. Computer? Are you capturing to your single internal drive? To a firewire drive? Without more info we can't give good advise. "I had luck for 2 weeks loading footage, and all of a sudden FCP5.1 is having random "unknown errors" while capturing. Even if I try batch capturing, or logging and capturing a clip, the error will come up. I restarted the program, but to noby kevin - Café LA Re: Black levels for broadcast - 17 years agoUse the 3 way color corrector to do the adjustments instead of the proc amp filter. It gives more control over lights and darks and you can then fine tune it to what is correct visually and broadcast safe. Good luck! Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Final Cut 5 on an old G4? - 17 years agoFCP 3 will probably run on that machine, don't know about 4.5 though. I ran 4.5 on a 500 MHz g4 and it would do it but any renders were sloooooow. So... it will run slow on renders straight cuts will be fine. I'm assuming your working with DV. good luck, kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Buying New G5 - Wait for Intel? - 17 years agoAnd whatever you get, get at least 6 or better yet 8 gigs of ram if you want to use Motion 2 properly. Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: capturing 1080i 60i to fcp from the sony hdv deck - 17 years agothrowing away prefs: users>your name>library>preferences>FCP preferences Select those and throw them in the trash. When you restart FCP it will ask you what you want to set the system up for, DV or HDV, where to set your scratch disk, etc. If the fire wire cable was bad you wouldn't be able to do any control of the deck, but its worth a try to get a new one. Shouldn't matter if itsby kevin - Café LA Re: capturing 1080i 60i to fcp from the sony hdv deck - 17 years ago"Video playback selections were confusing, would that have anything to do with it?" It shouldn't. All that does is tell FCP where to send the video signal after capture I believe. Your right about sony firewire, thats what I mean't. I've run out of ideas, don't forget about throwing away your preferences and see if that helps. I've captured plenty of HDV using the FX1 camera instead oby kevin - Café LA Re: capturing 1080i 60i to fcp from the sony hdv deck - 17 years agoGo to audio/video settings and make sure you have HDV 1080i selected along with Sony HDV deck for capture selected. Also in your capture window make sure you have selected audio and video or all you will see is a black screen. I have also found that when I go back and forth from regular dv to HDV I have to dump my preferences for FCP or the program gets confused. That is where I would start, theby kevin - Café LA Re: capturing 1080i 60i to fcp from the sony hdv deck - 17 years agodo you have FCP 5.1? That may make a difference. Have you captured from a sony camera that the footage was filmed on? was it filmed on a sony camera? Good luck! Kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: Final Cut Pro 5 not recognizing Canon XLH1 - 17 years agoI believe you need FCP 5.1 as well, if your not using that version. good luck! kevinby kevin - Café LA Re: VHS Digitisation through MAC - 17 years agoYes, it is hardware. I'll get back here with a brand I've used in the next day or so. It will help you alot and will keep the blackout of video from happening, to a degree. Sometimes the footage I've worked from is so bad it will hold a frame until the bad stuff is gone then moves forward. Added to that is a time base corrector trhat allows me to adjust the whites and blacks before it gets into tby kevin - Café LA Re: VHS Digitisation through MAC - 17 years agoIf you can, get a "Noise reduction/ drop out compensator" to run the signal through before the aurora. That will help clean up the signal visually. I've had to use one to clean up old 3/4" tapes and VHS tapes and it helps considerably. However, it puts the audio and video out of sync at times. Easy enough to fix inside FCP, but an issue with using the "Noise reduction/ dropby kevin - Café LA Re: OT: High def projectors - 17 years agoAs usual, this forum is the best! Yes, I'd thought the best way to use it was to hook up a laptop and use quicktime, but wasn't sure. I will present the thoughts shared here with the board, don't know if they are willing to spend $25,000. But you never know. Thanx again, evinby kevin - Café LA |
