Re: The saga continues - need export / transfer help - 16 years agoOkay, so we tried the AJA Kona 2 easy setup for DVCPRO HD 8 bit uncompressed (as you suggested Joe - I think anyway) This is not the way we had tried to get there before. It gave us a setting of "HDTV 720p" with compression of "8 bit uncrompressed". This looks good - the best so far as compared to "none". I hse never used a setting for HDTV before ... is this copacetby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: The saga continues - need export / transfer help - 16 years agoThe system isn't liking any of our choices Joe.... We have dropped it into a FCP timeline setting match mine DVCPro HD 720p 60 Compresson none. No render needed. Won't play. Still only. In order to output we have to use Knoa and have tried the diiferent settings. It won't play wih none as the compression type. All other types degrade the image to differeen't levels. I am confused, man .by TroyChristian - Café LA The saga continues - need export / transfer help - 16 years agoSo, I am at the post house with my film. DVCPro HD 720p 60. I have opened another can of worms. I did several tests to make sure I got the best export to take to the post house. I did an export DVCPro HD with compression set to "DVCPro HD 720p 60". I also exported at DVCPro HD with compression set to "none"., "None" looked a lot better. especially in the area ofby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: titles - 16 years agoHere is the work around that I used for the issue. Remade all titles in Motion. Increased bit depth to 16 bit. Exported.mov in animation codec Dragged into FCP Exported my DVCPro HD sequnce with compression set to "none" Beautiful result. Humongous file size. Print to tape (D5) using another system altogether? Someone mentioned to me a DS (??) ....by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: titles - 16 years agoI tried motion as well. Same issues ... The titles look significantly better on my external HD monitor but I still see some jaggies ... too msny to use as opening titles. Every program I try (LiveType, Motion, CGM text, Boris, FCP) leaves me with horrible aliasing. Even with blur and the usual tricks applied. I must be missing a setting somewhere. Should i be using an animation codec instead of trying to match the sequence settings? Or should I be using another program altogether? Any suggestionby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Out of Memory - 16 years agoJust went thru - did a save as first of course - and deleted all old sequences. Project is down to 150MB. What I have gleaned here is save old sequnces in old projects. streamline what you are working on. I will begin working and let you know if the system is again stable. Thanks as alwaysby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Out of Memory - 16 years agoYes, I hear you all. My problem was that in an effort to sreen I assembled. Hoped to pop out the assembled "monster" before it broke its chains. As I said I am a "save as" freak so I'll make it. Better to be certain than optimistic in this case. Got to pair down my hatrack....by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Out of Memory - 16 years agoThanks all. I was finally able to get stable enough to cut my sequence in half. I copied and pasted to a new sequence. I am back up and running - well limping - for the moment. Thanks for all your support....by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Out of Memory - 16 years agoThe export was done with current sttings. Both project and sequence match. Set the new project up to match the other. Should be a perfect fit. Not sure what I am missing...by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Out of Memory - 16 years agoTrying to do just that - actually started that process before the disaster. Got the opening credits out and aven't been able touch anything in it since. I was just kind of hoping to get everything out in one lucky swoop so as to feel comfortable knowing that I have a big, full back up plan. I am right at the end though and it is a result of trying to export one big master native QT file. All of the sequences have been amalgamated into one. I knew it would be risky but it is the only way to make sure that I control the pace of the film- leave nothing to chance - except exporting .... yikes!by TroyChristian - Café LA Out of Memory - 16 years agoWill it ever go smoothly? I am trying to work on this enormous project of mine (400MB project file!) I keep getting an error message that says "Out of Memory." In my other post you saw the challenge of getting Media Manager with those darn psd reference files killing me - wow ... then having to reconnect a gazillion other clips manually to get it to work. So the problem was that in my project file my graphics guy had put psd reference files insted of movies to save disk space. Which is why I din't notice them as they were .mov files in the timeline but a mere few KB which is what brought it to my attention. We replaced all of those and it worked- sort of. It still skipped a bunch of files that I had to reconnect manually. At leaby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Media Manager - 16 years agoCool and thanks - I have done that and am watching thru and will try to use Media Mngr again within the hour- I'll keep you posted. Yes I actually dislike very much using photoshop files in FCP- very limiting. Thanks for the help! Lastly though- odd that specifically one of the disabled files was part of the problem...by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: Media Manager - 16 years ago2 things have come to mind for me with this situation. I notice that one of the files I could not reconnect was in my timeline and I had control B'd it (made it inactive) Wonder if that had somethingto do with it being "rendered useless". Secondly, I had checked "include affiliate files at the suggestion of the post house. I am going to try exporting then reimporting first. I wasn't aware the psd file were a preoblem as they play fine in the timeline.by TroyChristian - Café LA Media Manager - 16 years agoSo, does media manager have issues with PSD files? When I try to export my project, it say it can't fint the psd files. When I search it finds the image sequences but makes me reconnect them one at a time. One of the folders had 538 files in it! after trying to quit out the first time and connect later and after 6 hours of copying, the new project was not saved therefore the effort wasted.
