Re: Up res to HD from SD - 17 years agoThank you all for the help as always! This question is for a "making of doc" and therefore there is footage from disparate sources which you can kind of get away with in the styling of it. Which is why I said Nattress ... not to up res but to stylize in some way to disguse differences in a purposeful manner. So I know one can capture say PD170 footage using the Kona 3 card and up res to DVCPro HD @ 59.94 Does this process actually improve the quality of the SD footage? Is there a process that does? The PD footage will be cut together with some HVX200 footage and I would like them to "play nicely... any suggestions?" Thanks! He sent me a link, I downloaded and it said that my firmware on my machine was up to date. I have definitely narrowed it down to the AJA card though- everything works fine untul I employ the card- even just a simple aif file freaks out when run thru the card. Tried moving the card to another slot, changed settings and more settings... still no luck. Think I am going to give up on the AJA card and go another direction. For some reason that none of us can figure out, my machine (which with the clean install os OS etc. now seems to be running well in every other way) just doesn't get along with the AJA LHe card. 1 1by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: AJA vs Blackmagic?? - 17 years agoBTW Shane, AJA 3.3 is installed. Ran the following tests. Opened iTunes, played a song thru internal speakers, sounded fine... Prefs, sound, AJA - totally distorted Went into FCP ran video only. Worked for about 30 seconds then the stuttering/stopping returned even with no audio. Removed the settings for AJA and wa la smooth playback. So it seems it IS the card. I am trying to Batch Export clips from FCP that is P2 QT files 720p 30 (29.92) and change the settings to 720p 60(59.94). When I do, the clip is only 1 half of the clip. The 2nd half is cut off. How do I find my QT version? Anyone know a great computer/FCP tech in LA (San Fernando Valley) that wants to take a look @ my system? As my computer is still not happy. Figured I'd do a test and batch export some of my P2 media files from 29.97 to 59.94 as my new AJA doesn't support 29.97 HDVPro. However, when I export the 29.97 to a new QT file in 59.94 from FCP, it cuts the 2nd half of the clip off. Literally in half.by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: AJA vs Blackmagic?? - 17 years agoSorry, message FROM a bottle... see it's working already! The plot thickens... Pulled the drives and project file, plugged them into my G5 dual 2.7 and the project plays fine (so far at first glance). So there is a bug in the computer... at least I have eliminated the drives from the equation... Now how to get this darn super computer to work?????by TroyChristian - Café LA Re: AJA vs Blackmagic?? - 17 years agoStatus on my issue: Seperated media so that no drive is overworked- no luck Uninstalled AJA software to strip things down- no luck I have tried GRAID and then GDrive drives- no luck with either I have seen media skip and stop before, but never slow down like a player running out of batteries... it skips and stops too but it slows down... odd Receiving a new AJA card tomorrow via Fedexby TroyChristian - Café LA Re: AJA vs Blackmagic?? - 17 years agoSo gents, I have copied media over to a new drive so that no drive is over 60% full, run disk utility, and rebooted. the first issue is that FCP can't find the media connected with some of the copied files- I do have it backed up fortunately- odd though as the file sizes match the original QT files. Next, FCP ran smoothly for about 4 minutes. The only reason that I thought it was the AJA is because the media played fine prior to installing the card. Also, when I output the audio thru the internal speakers, it sounds fine. When the audio is run thru the AJA card it is extremely distorted. Another symptom that the card is malfunctioning.
