Re: Creative Cloud Open Letter - 10 years agoThey did mention "requires annual commitment".by strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Creative Cloud Open Letter - 10 years agoYea. It is a bit more complex than "buy this for $X, upgrade for $Y". But I feel Adobe marketing complicated it by marketing the annual commitment price with a "per month" tagline as opposed to a "per year" tagline. It should be monthly sub vs yearly sub. If you pay for a yearly sub, it's approx $600 a year as opposed to a monthly sub of $75 per month ($900 per year)by strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Out of Memory - 10 years agoI usually do the grading outside of FCP, so that doesn't affect exports, but will get the stills to render. And yes, I will do that if I had large stills and the only way to render it out is to set it to 8 bit YUV.by strypes - Café LA Re: Out of Memory - 10 years agoAlso, go to sequence settings and in the render tab, set it to "8 bit YUV".by strypes - Café LA Re: Best (highest quality; smallest files) compression for web delivery - 10 years ago>it reported a time of 16+ hours to do this job 16 hours with "better" quality resize? That doesn't sound sane. I would expect at most 3x real time. Here's how to speed up Compressor. Most important thing is the exporting a self contained qt movie and using the cluster.by strypes - Café LA Re: Best (highest quality; smallest files) compression for web delivery - 10 years agoA few settings for H.264... Set "key frames" to "automatic" and check frame re-ordering. Make sure it is set to "Best Quality (Multi-pass). Best tip I ever got is to export a short 20-30 second self contained Quicktime Movie set to "current settings" with as much movement as possible. And then try out different frame sizes and frame rates. And you can use this to sync up multiple bins of rushes. Here's a 10 minute video that shows off the function: >Not all the FCP7 commands are in PPRO I fully disagree with that. That would traditionally mean 720p50 or p60. That's 50/60 fps. THAT will mess up timecodes. If you are going out to 720p50/69, you need to create a 720p master with 50/60 fps timecode.by strypes - Café LA Re: R3D in Premiere CC - 10 years ago> I cut a 15 minute short and the project file ending up being 100+ mb, so i'm kind of >concerned that on a longer project one could end up with a 500-900mb project file Were you cutting that project in Premiere Pro CS6? There has been changes to the Premiere Pro project file in CC and project files are now much smaller. You can probably get some ideas along those lines.by strypes - Café LA Re: Wiki problem - 10 years agoSome of the links may have gotten toasted in the last server move. The answer to that is whether you made a DVD-Video, or DVD-ROM. Set top DVD players are only able to play properly authored DVD-Video. So it needs to be authored in an app such as DVD SP, Encore or Toast.by strypes - Café LA Re: Panasonic GH3 .mov files: can these be ingested FCP7 without transcoding? - 10 years agoPremiere does work a LOT like FCP7 and in quite a few ways it holds its own. If that's what you're used to, you can get up to speed and very easily in Premiere. FCP X is different, the only thing similar about it is the name.by strypes - Café LA Re: R3D in Premiere CC - 10 years agoI still get a buzz when I'm cutting R3D native, which is why you have probably seen me defend native editing as much as I do. Coming from the days when I used to spend about an hour doing a full debayer on a handful of R3D footage, to being able to cut R3D almost like it was ProRes and doing it in front of clients.. It's absolutely unbelievable. And I'm not just talking about playback, but also tby strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: R3D in Premiere CC - 10 years agoHey Jude, have you tried lowering the playback resolution? This native thing is just mind blowing. I had a session cutting 5K R3Ds in a 1080p timeline at half rez on a MacPro with good GPU and it was quite amazing. It could play over dissolves without rendering and a blur effect. No dropped frames. Dynamic trimming wasn't fantastic, but overall it is very sweet.by strypes - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Panasonic GH3 .mov files: can these be ingested FCP7 without transcoding? - 10 years agoKit L Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > By all reports > on www.personal-view, the 50Mb/sec .mov option > produces the best files, it can be re-wrapped > quickly (vs. transcoding) using MPEG Streamclip. If I were you, I'd give it a shot on Premiere CC. That would probably be your best shot at native editing.by strypes - Café LA Re: Exporting for Broadcast - 10 years agoGlad to hear that.
