CS 5.5 / Nvidia / Mac Pro (3.1) question - 12 years agoI'm trying to find an answer to a compatibility question with my Mac Pro (3.1) and Nvidia. I looked at the Adobe tech req's website (http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/tech-specs.html) BUT... It says: "Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support" The 64 bit "support" has me thrown off. I'm running a Mac Pro (3.1) Quad Core Intel Xeon 2 x 2.8 with 8GB Ramby EPKmaker - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: XDCAM EX1 import problems - ".SMI" rather than ".MP4" - 15 years agoMight be an issue of your media not being available? XDCam transfer will "remember" the thumbnail previews even if you disconnect the drive containing your BPAV's. Double check your BPAV's are available as you believe them to be. Also check to see that you have sufficient disk space in your destination for the import. I also to correct what I said earlier... when I open XD Cam transferby EPKmaker - Café LA Re: XDCAM EX1 import problems - ".SMI" rather than ".MP4" - 15 years agoTry opening both your #29 BPAV and your #30 BPAV folders in XDCam transfer at the same time. You can do this by selecting the first one (e.g. #29) and then CMD while selecting the second one (i.e. #30). It should open all the the relevant parts for your 103.smi once you have all of the relevant parts available, you should be able to check the box next to 103.smi and it will import as one clip. Anyone know how to resolve? Many thanks in advance!by EPKmaker - Café LA Re: XDCAM EX1 import problems - ".SMI" rather than ".MP4" - 15 years agoHey Night Owls, I'm having the same problem, except I've read the entire thread and when I try select the last part of the .SMI clip as suggested, it still wont import... Import button is still Greyed out. Anyone else had this problem? Anyone know how to resolve? Many thanks in advance!by EPKmaker - Café LA Re: Blackmagic announces new products - 17 years agoHi All, The HDMI option on the Sony Cameras is exciting. Has anyone figured out a way to use this while using a Mac Book Pro? I would love to hook up my Sony HVR-V1U to my Mac Book Pro and record uncompressed straight to an external drive. Is there any way to do this yet?by EPKmaker - News and Announcements Has anyone "Pimped their Powerbook?" - 18 years agoHi LAFCPUGers Im interested in "Pimping my PowerBook" I've got a 3 year old 1Ghz 15" titanium PowerBook. I love it and it's served me well! But it could really do with a few upgrades. My apple care warranty runs out this year - and the new intel Mac Book pro won't run my pro apps (at least not for a while - and even then who knows how well...). I don't have the cash for a G5 sby EPKmaker - Café LA Re: Help needed. Capturing with HDV camera - 18 years agoI suggest: 1.) Opening a new project calling it something with HDV in the proj name - make sure you set the AV prefferences & timeline settings to HDV. 2.) Copy your old time line and paste it into a sequence in the new project 3.) Close the old project. 4.) Disconnect the media in the time line of the new project (Select all & Ctrl click) 5.) Leave the media on the drive if there's sby EPKmaker - Café LA Re: Z1U / FCP / PowerBook FireWire issue solved! - 18 years agoHi Keith, I know that Final Cut 5 had various improvements that were designed to work with HDV so it might be a Final Cut 3 issue. Here is an article about project settings in Final Cut 5 - but most of it will probably also apply to Final Cut 3. Maybe it'll be helpful. I did my daisy chaining last night and it left me with a "severly fragmented" PowerBook. It's a good thing I own the Norton Utilities 8.0.2 disk which I'll use to defrag (optimize) my drive tonight. I would recommend this disk to anyone who does video editing on a Mac & OSX. I've hadby EPKmaker - Café LA Re: Help needed. Capturing with HDV camera - 18 years agoHi Kevin, I would approach it the same way I have done with my DV editing in the past, which is to focus on getting the cut right first which I do in my own time on my powerbook. This is an offline edit if you will. Once I am happy with the offline assembly I find a way to color correct the project. I've done it two different ways in the past: 1.) If you are outputting in Standard Def you can vby EPKmaker - Café LA Re: Help needed. Capturing with HDV camera - 18 years agoHi PJ, You are not trying to use your PD150 to capture or downconvert the HDV footage are you? If you shot it on the Z1U - you obviously need to use the Z1U to capture or downconvert with. I had a problem which may be similar to yours which I've now solved. Please see my other post re: Z1U / FCP / Powerbook issue solved! Kevin - in my opinion it is possible to shoot HDV & work with a powerbby EPKmaker - Café LA Z1U / FCP / PowerBook FireWire issue solved! - 18 years agoI thought this info would be of interest to anyone who is experiencing similar problems to what I have! I recently bought the Sony HVR-Z1U camera and have been shooting HDV footage. Since Monday, I've been trying to downconvert to SD & batch capture (my logged best takes) into Final Cut Pro 5.0.2 - using the camera in VTR mode. I'm using: the Z1 in VTR mode - a PowerBook G4 1Ghz (titanium) -by EPKmaker - Café LA Re: How do I batch capture HDV in Iframes? - 18 years agoThanks Brad, Still not sure on how you pick shots to convert in HDVxDV after having captured them in FCP? Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I'm finding that with HDVxDV I can only capture an entire piece of tape (containging all my chosen clips) and I then have to re-import that whole chunk, re-setting in and out points for each separate clip that I want. If this is true it's quite a slog.by EPKmaker - Café LA Re: How do I batch capture HDV in Iframes? - 18 years agoHi Clay, I did read that article. It says that you can open an HDV file that you want to downconvert... but when I try this for some reason I cannot select or open any of the files that I want to down convert. They remain grayed out when I try click on them. I'm not sure why this is. I forgot to mention in my previous message that I am using the Sony HVR-Z1U camera via fire wire to digitize theby EPKmaker - Café LA How do I batch capture HDV in Iframes? - 18 years agoHi All, I recently bought HDVxDV in the hope that it would solve my problem but unfortunately it did not... I've got about 6.5 hours of HDV footage which I have logged and selected +- 1.5 hours of best takes. I want to down convert the best takes to SD PAL so I can make a DVD. I'm using a powerbook G4 1Ghz with FCP 5.0.2 & a Lacie 250GB external (+- 30GB available space) I've been having isby EPKmaker - Café LA |
