Want to get a macbook air 13" 2GHz duo-core i7 8GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM 512GB Flash Storage. Want to know the limits of using it for After Effects. I'm sure many of us are very thankful to know about it. I'm working with HDV. Using Sony PHDVM-63M tape. HDV (HDV 1080i) 60i format Camera ? Sony HDR-FX7 Tape Deck ? Sony Digital HD Videocassette Recorder, Model # HVR-M25U It looks like it starts a new clip with every stop of the camera. Also sometimes inbetween the start and stop so that may be a drop out or something wrong on the tape.by robin - Café LA Re: deck not recognized while trying to capture - 16 years agoThanks, I do do that. It was the capture and device control settings that were wrong. Capture should be HDV and Device control should be Sony HDV firewire Problem solved.by robin - Café LA more clips made than logged when capturing - 16 years agoAfter logging a tape, I'm batch capturing. However, as it captures, it makes multiple clips from my longer clips I specified. I have the setting "on TC break make new clip" which is what I want. Is the only reason I get multiple clips because the tape has TC breaks? The camera person doesn't think there are breaks in the timecode. Is there another setting in FCP that prompts addby robin - Café LA deck not recognized while trying to capture - 16 years agoHello, I am unable to get FCP to recognize my HDV deck in the capture window. What capture presets and device control presets do you use? Do I have to download a driver to use this deck? I am using a Sony HVR-M25U deck and shot on Sony HDV/DV tape (mini cassette). I am on FCP 6.0.2, OSX 10.5.1 on a Dual 2.3 GHz Power PC G5. Went to the Mac system prefs: keyboard and mouse: keyboard shortcuts: dock, exposé and dashboard then unchecked: all windows F9, application windows F10, Desktop F11, and Dashboard F12. I kept automatically hide and show dock. I also shut down and start up. Is that right? if not how do you do it? Thanksby robin - Café LA Re: no sound using firefire with camera - 16 years agoI don't use imovie. I don't have the capture window open, and still can't hear viewer clips or timeline if camera is connected to MacBook Pro. I can hear them when I'm on my old G4 with the camera connected.by robin - Café LA Re: F9, F10 and F11 does not work - 16 years agoNo it did not work. Is that right? Thanks for more instructions. Robinby robin - Café LA Re: no sound using firefire with camera - 16 years agoHi Jude, Thanks for the response. Do you know why the sound doesn't work in FCP when the camera is connected to firewire? On my older mac, I can at least hear when playing the timeline and viewer. Is it the MAcBookPro connections that don't allow the sound? Another question: Will the Lacie drives run faster by using the firewire ports or the USB2 ports? Thanks again to anyone who knowsby robin - Café LA F9, F10 and F11 does not work - 16 years agoHi, Another question: My F9, F10, F11, F12 does not act as the insert and over write etc. that is set in FCP. I unchecked these keyboard keys from the general MacBookPro preferences and it still doesn't allow me to use them in FCP. This happens on other machines too. Any solutions? Thanks ahead of time! Robinby robin - Café LA no sound using firefire with camera - 16 years agoHi, I can't hear any sound in FCP (viewer or playing timeline) when I use the firewire port with my camera (Sony PD 150). I do see the audio meters with sound. I also have 2 Lacie drives connected separately into the USB ports at the same time. I'm on a MacBook Pro 1,1; intel core duo; 2 GB memory, OS 10.4.0; FCP6. I can log and capture but can't hear anything in that window either. If there's anyone out there who has info on these matters, I think many of us would love to know. Thanks again to everyone who has responded and anyone else thaby robin - Café LA flash to Quicktime - 16 years agoDoes anyone know how to export flash to quicktime? I need a quicktime file as final output and sometimes I also want to edit it in FCP. I have exported flash (size 320 x240) to a QT file but it doesn't play. So then I bring it into QT pro and exported as QT movie. That plays and then I import into FCP but the size does not correspond to timeline size (320x240) and I get black bars on top anby robin - Café LA lay off 16:9 sequence to tape to make DVD - 17 years agoI have a sequence with settings: frame size: 720X480 aspect ratio: NTSC DV (3:2) NTSC-CCIR 601/DV anamorphic 16:9 checked I have layed this off to DV tape two ways: with 16:9 aspect ratio and without. Monday I'll trash prefs and hook up monitor and speaker. If I see connectivity, but still can't capture the clips, what should I try next? Thanks! Robinby robin - Café LA can not capture - 17 years agoI can log a clip from the log and capture window but when I batch capture it, it says" "This operation could not be completed as there is no video." I also have the message "preview disabled" when I'm in the log and capture window and don't know why.
