Re: Premiere Pro and RED - 9 years agoIt there a more efficient way to import multiple cards of RED files into Premiere? Currently, I have to go to Media browser, select the day, card, and then roll, to final see the red files, then import them. This is how my folder structure is set on the drive, and I have 10 days worth with 5 cards for each day. Just dragging and dropping the files in from the finder will result in the REDby Joe Riggs - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Unsqueeze Anamorphic and Export? - 9 years agoI followed this guide to unsqueeze anamorphic Pro Res footage. Create a new sequence, drag a clip onto the timeline and let FCP change the sequence settings to match the clip settings. This will create a sequence with a frame size of 2048 x 1536 pixels. Go to the sequence settings and assign pixel aspect ratio HD (1440 x 1080) and check Anamorphic 16:9. I was cutting DSLR footage in CS5 on mac mini 4 years ago, so you should be fine. Pluraleyes is now a standalone application, so you'll need a new lic. QuoteShould I then output a file so the audio is baked in? I don't think it's necessary. unless you have horrible media management. Traditionally, you sync the audio and video, anby Joe Riggs - Adobe Premiere Pro CC DCP creation in CC - 9 years agoHello, I may need to create a DCP in the near future. I know that CC can supposedly do this but is it as simple as just dropping the file in AME and exporting? I'm dealing with a file that is 1080P and 23.976fps. From my understanding: The DCP needs to be 2K, true 24fps, and the audio will need to be adjusted to be in perfect sync. I'm particularly concerned about the frame rateby Joe Riggs - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: opening project files with both CC and CS6 installed - 9 years agoAs mentioned in my original post, I used 'Open With - CS6', but my Mac that doesn't seem to retain that setting, I believe it resets it once I turn the system off after work. The reason why I want to open them in CS6, is I want to keep my CS6 project files in that version of Premiere, I have no interest in moving a CS6 project to CC. (projects that I started in CS6, I want to remain on CS6). I've tried setting it to "always open" with CS6, but that seems to only be a temporary fix, it does not keep that setting and after sometiby Joe Riggs - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: Naming and backup for multiple drives? - 9 years agoThanks Derek, so yes, giving a suffix to the 2nd drive and having to reconnect is standard.by Joe Riggs - Café LA Naming and backup for multiple drives? - 9 years agoWhen you have a project from a client on two drives, a main and a backup. How do you like to label the main drives? The name of the drive that will appear on you desktop when you plug it in. Drive 1: "Project Title" Drive 2: "Project Title backup" My question regarding the naming is because when one opens the project file on the backup drive, it will resultby Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Best method for syncing audio and video when timecode MATCHES? - 9 years agoI only know of the method Jude mentioned, which is why I still use Pluraleyes (if a reference track was recorded) even if they jam sunk timecode. PE will do most of what Nick describes with "Sync N Link", with the exception of naming clips after audio file names. That's a really useful feature, hope PE will adopt that, as well as processing R3Ds.by Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Can't import wav file....File Error: Unknown File .wav - 9 years agoYeah, I'd be interested in a recommendation for a 5.1 speaker option for the Imac. I could play the original 4GB+ file in VLC and quicktime but it just wouldn't work with any other program. I just did a test within FCP7, I wanted to create a .wav larger than 4GB, and see if it will import. I exported a 90 minute project at 32/96 and it gave me a 4.03 GB file. This actually imports into FCP7. Howby Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: How to export a Quicktime file with 5.1 audio? - 9 years agoHi Jude, How do I assign them to the correct speakers? I assigned each track (6 of them) to their output, so track 1 is 1, 2 is 2, 3 is 3...etc... I didn't pan anything. My order of operations: 1. Got the 5.1 .wav file from sound team. It is clearly a 5.1 track, when I open it up in properties I see 2. Brought it into final cut and synced it with my video. 3. You would think this would be pretty simple, do x, do y, export and walla you have a 5.1 audio file. However, I'm running into a few issues and I'm unsure how to verify if it is indeed 5.1 Here's a couple of instructions I found: I followed the first one. After a long time troubleshooting, I read that .wav files have a 2-4gb limit depending on the program, and walla this ended up being the issue. There 90 min long wav files and when I try to import any one of them into FCP7, I get this error: File Error: Unknown File .wav Very similar to this post The files were exported from Pro Tools with the following specs: I tried opening the file in Adobe Audition and I get this error which might be the problem.by Joe Riggs - Café LA Best way to create Titles within FCP7 that you can batch modify? - 9 years agoHi, What is the best way to create a bunch of titles (subtitles to be precise) within FP7, so that I can easily change them all if necessary? I might end up with a hundred plus titles, they will all look the same (font, color, size), and I'd like to be able to modify them all if need be. So FCP7 built in text tool is out as it can't do that. I might also need to add a black outline toby Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Overlapping clips and EDL export - 9 years agoThanks Jude. The whole baked file + EDL is a little confusing to me since it's not working properly. They requested a flattened quicktime movie and an EDL for each video track. In the edit there are multiple tracks where clips overlap each other. Since all they have is a flattened movie, is this overlapping something that will cause issues with the EDL making the accurate edit points? CS6 does not support smart rendering of pro res?by Joe Riggs - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Pro Res in FCP7 vs Premiere export - 9 years agoOne of the nice things about FCP7 is if your footage is Pro Res, it takes only a few minutes to export a a rather long sequence. Does premiere have something like that? I know if you use Pro Res in premiere it won't export an hour long sequence in a couple minutes. The match settings feature exports an mpeg file or something, which is just not useful.by Joe Riggs - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Keyboard and Mouse for better ergonomics and productivity - 9 years agoI'm looking into different keyboards, mice, and other tools for better ergonomics and productivity. I have 5k RED footage, edited in a 5k sequence (CS6). I worked in a 5k sequence and not 1080 because I didn't want to "scale to Frame size" for every clip as I make my cut. Since I'll be finishing in a 1080p sequence, I had some resolution to scale with to push in and recompose shoby Joe Riggs - Adobe Premiere Pro CC Re: crushingly URGENT help needed - multiclips offline - 9 years agoDerek, What's your suggested way to rename audio files (assuming no duplicates)? Not talking about the program but the actual name. Is it enough to have the files reside in a folder like Projectname_audio/Sound01/Takename (with actual file name, 27T02.wav)? Essentially, you could have another project with that same file name, but because of folder structure, you know that this 27T02, isby Joe Riggs - Café LA Re: Finishing in Premiere - 9 years agoI tried both 9 and 10, I ended up using an EDL but that was not ideal.
