Re: Something for the daring minds ... - 10 years agoHi Alexander, I don't know all cam formats which will be copied but there are P2 and some Canon versions at least. As mentioned in my initial post that's not a bad thing. As I did with my VirtualCameraCard app you can force directories, sparse bundle or even drives to be recognised as camera cards. This can be an advantage if you are sure you only want to convert parts of long (big) moviby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: OT: advice on upgrades/workflow for 2014 - 10 years agoJohn, Why not buy a cheap USB drive and install Mavericks and FCPX there for a trial. I've also heard of several people who are happy with maxed out Mac minis - but depends on the jobs. -Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: Non internet connected edit systems - 10 years agoI'm not doing much editing any more. But end of last year I cut a movie for R&D. Was for one of the big car manufactures. And they are really crazy about security. But as mentioned they also still don't see what other options you have to intrude the system. I did send the cuts to a private account of one of the people I was working with. One thing me and others came across is that some cam formats are always copied to the Original Media folder inside the Library. That's good or bad depending on your point of view. I made the suggestion in an other thread to create something like a "Capture Library", move the clips to a media folder outside the Library and go fromby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X First Title app to make use of the new 10.1 XML and style features - 10 years agoWith 10.1, the new Motion Title handling and the new XML version now it's possible to render out timed single frame subtitles. Here a little app (beta) which allows to create rendered subtitles. Its early state – so there are no additional format rather then FCPX. Others will follow. Meanwhile if you have Xto7 you can transport those subtitles to 7 and create an EDL which can be used with oby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X VirtualCameraCard (VCC) - 10 years agoI was asked a few days ago why it is not possible to import parts of long movies which are not cam files. Simple answer: it's not possible. But there is a trick, if the the movies are located inside a valid camera folder structure it will work. VCC creates a sparsebundle with has a folder structure like a standard camera card. Normally movies created on computer, maybe on an HDR etc. can'tby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Little app: keywordExtractor - 10 years agoIt started here in Germany about a week ago: some people were asking whether you could export keywords and the related clips and TCs from an Event. I made a little free basic app which allows to do that using XML. There is not much to explain as that app is really simple. Create XML, open with keywordExtractor, save the tab text file. Unfortunately FCPXMLs don't support any effect parameters therefore each subtitle looks like the original Motion Template. In different forums there also had been notes about that. The discussion started here in Germany again yesterday. There is some interesting response: While I tried to answer all the mails and did several test with text files and XMLs send to meby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: Can I create hardcoded (burned in) subtitles from a softcoded .txt file? - 10 years agoJoe, You need this template to make a sequence with the text generators (for the subtitles). FCP 1) create a sequence with your settings. 2) insert a text generator - I would recommend TextUp (can be found under Spherico) 3) set up the parameters till they fit your needs 4) export as XML TitleExchange 1) select Adobe Encore as source 2) select FCP XML as target 3) select FCP XML Oby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: Animated map in FCP? - 10 years agoDerek's approach is a kind of multi usage approach. If the scan is for that reason he is totally right. In any case you can use the little app to calculate the dimensions of the copy fur usage in FCP or similar. -Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: Animated map in FCP? - 10 years agoStefan, It's quite easy. As Derek explained for (most) video apps only the amount of pixels matter. So do the scan with a dpi setting which matches your zoom factor. One thing which is new and very important is about sparse bundle creation and handling. Several people used either Disk Utility, X-Files Pro or my createDiskImage to create sparse bundles and experienced that those could be write protected when used with a different computer or user. So the new thing inby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: Something totally OT - 10 years agoThanks for the congrats. It's kind of fun looking back. My server history (it's saved every month) tells me that there had been a quarter million downloads - beside those installers some people host on their own servers. If everybody would have paid 1 dollar I would be a rich man -- 99.9 % do use the free features. Our famous Nick Meyers (one of the early birds) created an abbreviation for the app: "TEP". This somehow changed the digital world when using forums and my mailbox behaviour. It also changed the icon of the app. Thanks Nick -Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Magical Mystery Tour - 10 years agoStarted in Germany, now on -Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X TitleExchange XTI updates - 10 years agoI made some updates for TitleExchange last week. XTI functions are now nearly completely integrated into TitleExchange. So you can for example directly import .sbv files to .fcpxml files (was requested from some users some weeks ago) This means you can transport more than 40 subtitle formats directly into FCPX using the title template you want or need. Cause of another user a request I've aby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: FCPX capabilities - 10 years agoYou first have to understand the "word definitions" in X. There is no "sequence" anymore it's now a "project" "Projects" like in the old FCP don't exist anymore. It's now all in one. You got 2 parts Event (which allow to manage media) and a list of Projects (which are the formerly Sequences). Projects can be grouped into (sub)folders while Events caby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: Handwritten effect... possible in FCP 7 ? - 10 years agoIf you own a Wacom, PS or a similar app and a screen capture software you can write and capture what you write. -Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA OT: myFiles Update - 10 years agoSome users of myFiles asked whether it is possible to see the file name used in FCP X. This could be done as well with SQLite queries, but is a bit more complicated. And in this case Apple might change the SQL structure cause of new features without any notification. So the latest version supports "fcpxml" as well. This additionally allows to see the file name used in FCP X. Easy way would be just copy all the lower thirds and paste them into a sequence with the new timing. -Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: FCPX to FCP7 - 11 years agoSounds stupid -- but why not buy FCPX. It's not that expensive. You don't have to spend hours to make sure everything is correctly transferred, replace effects etc. And after that you still don't know whether every thing is in shape. - Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: FCPX Subtitles - 11 years agoPaul, You have to understand the way FCPX works and all the templates work. Some the templates work globally especially those which use the fcFactory engine, others do similar. To get rid of all the demos you have to use a de-installer which quite often come with those installers. My app only moves those templates which are build in into FCPX not those which FCPX scan for. Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Handling multiple disks with FCPX - 11 years agoHandling drives with Apple’s Final Cut Pro X (called FCPX) is both easy and difficult. There is great software available to hide events and projects (i.e. Event manager X). But depending on how backups are made they may fail -- not in a sense of wrong functionality or bugs. It’s just the way backups can be created outside of FCPX. So “cloned” drives can create error messages within FCPX sby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X |
