About Disk Images - 11 years agoProbably everybody knows why those Disk Images are an important part of the FCPX workflow. There are some tutorials out there for a while how to create them using Disk Utility and/or Terminal. I thought might be a good idea to write a GUI application for that to simplify the needed steps. You can download the free app from Though it's a pretty self-explaining app you should have look atby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: syncing multiple audo and video tracks - 11 years agoyou may try the pluraleyes app. andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: Timelapse - 11 years agoI can also be done using XML, which would be the fastest way even without knowing anything about XML. Export all the 150 clips as XML. Open the the XML in TextEdit. Then with "Find & Replace" replace all <in>-1</in> with <in>0</in> do the same with <out>-1</out> replaced with <out>15</out> Save the XML and open it agby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: 5D and 7D clips problems in the time line - 11 years agoConform your material to 25 using Cinema Tools. You will get a slight pitch with the audio -- that might be an issue. But you can handle that with either the Sound Track Pro app or any other audio app.by Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: FCP 7 and Motion 4 - bad quality text output - 11 years agoI've heard about similar problems but never heard how they were solved. You can download my TitleExchange. The installation includes a free app called psTitles which allows to use PhotoShop (with scripting) to create layerd TIFFs which are editable. Maybe that helps. Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: P2 Log and Transfer - 11 years agoBejamin, You can also use my copyCards app to copy cards savely. It's no spamware, it's save, it's virus free and finally free at all. Many many people here know that I'm a "good" guy. I thought my answer -- even though not perfect -- might be interesting for some of you. Quite often the translation comes as a ".docx" file. These kind of files are mostly unusable for most apps which handle subtitles. To see how it works and to learn both about the options and limitations of this first version: To download the app: With the other free apps comiby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: Larry Jordan reveals Apple's FCPX Roadmap - 11 years agoQuoteCraig Most NLEs are using it like a spread sheet, not a database. I'd bet if you actually were to break it out in database form you'd see a lot more complex relationships. Things like Roles and Smart Collections are examples but I think there's a lot going on under the hood that less obvious. There's a lot that's not yet fully implemented. Look at the full extended Inspector and you'll see aby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: Larry Jordan reveals Apple's FCPX Roadmap - 12 years agoApple did know that FCPX would not fit the needs of "professional" market and big part of their installed user base. Quite a lot of "NDA involved people" told them it won't work for that market nor for themselves. But Apple had to make a decision. Working on 3 Video NLE apps FCP/FCE, FCPX and iMovie would have taken a lot of resources. Rewriting FCP would have been a lot (a rby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: Arabic Subtitles - anybody tried that? - 12 years agoThanks for this fast feedback. I just wanted to make sure it doesn't happen only here. I don't think there is "junk" in there as it works fine with other apps (in FCP 7 as well) I will update my psTitle to work with FCPX to create "rasterized" layered TIFFs. Thanks Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Arabic Subtitles - anybody tried that? - 12 years agoWe tried on some machines but got a lot of crashes or ignoring of titles. With the below text FCPX crashes immediately when pasting the text (using XML it will be ignored) as many other text A link as the forum does not support arabic as well Would be great to get some feedback on that -- crash or no crash. Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: Exporting transcriptions in log notes - 12 years agoMartha, Disable the columns you don't need in the browser. Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA Re: Larry Jordan reveals Apple's FCPX Roadmap - 12 years agoAnother note on roles versus tracks. I made a little freeware set last year to handle subtitles for multiple languages via XML. As there are no tracks any more you cannot select a track for a language, but a role -- which might be not that bad. But with roles you have to be extremely careful when working with multiple languages since applying a wrong role to a language(clip) can or will creaby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: Larry Jordan reveals Apple's FCPX Roadmap - 12 years agoI'm more or less with Gerard. Multicam can be pretty powerful in FCPX, but the audio handling (once you got external audio) is totally useless. It can even "kill" all audio which comes with an AV clip in a project quite often. Roles can be pretty nice, but as Gerard said you have to handle and organize those very carefully, best right at the beginning. In so far tracks weren't thaby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: "Are any Broadcast TV shows using FCPX?" - 12 years agoMy point is a totally different one. As I said quite often I am not a story teller the way most of you are. The stories I tell are boring and are for R&D only. But because of that experience I was able to help a lot of story tellers to organize their workflows cause my workflows which often had been way more complicated compared to those which are used in standard shows or theatrical releby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: Apps for Titles and Transitions for FCP X? - 12 years agoAlso google for Alex4d or Simeon Ubsdell, they do have a lot of fans and good stuff. If you want to import title text or export it you may have a look at my "TitleExchange Suite" it includes two free apps for FCPX to import/export text based titles. -Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: Automatic Clip Importing - 12 years agoPypo, I can feel your pain. But just quit all the "automatic" apps before you mount the cards. It has nothing to do with Bill's "FCPX is metadata driven" at all. All versions of FCP had been metadata driven but in another way. FCPX stuff is based on SQL and Core Data where specs for latter one probably won't be published ever. And to be honest, if I look at the XML feby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: Working remotely with events / meta data... - 12 years agoJust a guess. A small note on what Craig said, I would love to have some more options there. Means to create custom groups and lock these setting to an event not to all. Andreasby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: How to loop an audio clip in timeline - 12 years agoThere is nothing like automatic looping, but you can select your audio clip in the browser and hit "E" it will append to the end of of your timeline.by Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: sync video with audio from other recorder - 12 years agoYour thinking is correct. To make it easier you can sort files by time in the event browser.by Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: XML based app to import subtitles into FCPX - 12 years agoSorry was my fault. I did move the apps. Now they are additional apps which do come with the TitleExchange installation . They are still free. I especially don't like text in FCPX -- it's one of the really weak parts of FCPX for my jobs. Though I can type directly into the video I mostly see the borders of the text box or the cursor (maybe I'm doing something wrong), to the see the picture without the text box borders or cursor I've to deselect the title or to type in the text within the inspector, if there are morby Andreas Kiel - Café LA - X Re: Final Cut Pro X .MXF import bug - 12 years agoWorks fine here. You have to have the complete structure of the card. But I miss the old QT plug mxf4MAC which worked fine with FCP7. Now it takes hours, what took seconds with the legacy FCP.
