Re: in search of alternate NLE...? media100? - 11 years agotried it today under snow leopard. CLUNKY. cumbersome. HUGE step backward from where it was in 1998. boris is the corel of video. their interfaces are soooo HORRIBLY designed. sad.by wayne granzin - Café LA in search of alternate NLE...? media100? - 11 years agoanyone remember media100? i used to use a mid-level version (i link it was lx?) back in like 1997. it was by far the most responsive and solid NLE ive used. yeah, i know it was a hardware+software solution. but it was 1997!!! id like to think our base hardware in 2011 would be at least as good as dedicated boards from 13 years ago... looks like boris owns it now. but i was wondering if anby wayne granzin - Café LA Re: Best Codec for 3DS Max animation coming into FCP - 11 years agoare the animation files going to be used as their own clips or will they be composited over video? either way, animation, best or animation best+alpha will be the way to goby wayne granzin - Café LA Re: What to do.... - 11 years agoin this case, he's not asking you for or to DO anything. i say just tell him what he wants to know and wish him good fortune. youve answered his question. and everyone's a winner. if he were asking you to gather and provide footage or something, that would be another story.by wayne granzin - Café LA unexpectedly quitting - 11 years agofor some time now, when i do batch exports (typically dvcprohd to 720 mp4 h.264) fcp will pretty reliably' "unexpectedly quit" 6-10 clips into the batch. is there some known issue that im not aware of? fcp 6, usually going out to a 7200rpm single drive. connected via esata or fw800.by wayne granzin - Café LA access to fcp 7 upgrade... - 11 years agoi never upgraded to FCP7 from the last version of 6. two questions: 1. is there anything game changing in 7 that 6 doesnt have 2. i see that apple has removed all things FCP from its store site. i guess a retail store with a boxed 7 upgrade is my only option...?by wayne granzin - Café LA - X Re: Mac OS X Lion, New MacBook Air & Mac Minis - 11 years agoim just really, REALLY unnerved by these two recent apple "developments" the glaring omissions of established tools and forced workflows in FCPX and now the highly automated, idiot-welcoming lion... i dont want to sound all "conspiracy theory-ish" but i just dont think im willing to let my system tell me how to work.by wayne granzin - Café LA Render Progress Bar in FCP app icon - 13 years agowhen im doing a time intensive (several minutes or more) activity in photoshop, a progress bar appears in the finder-level "command+tab"/application switcher view. which is VERY handy for not actually having to enter the app to gauge its progress. would be cool if FCP did that as well...by wayne granzin - FCP Feature Requests Make Opacity Controls easier to access in Viewer - 13 years agothis is a small one but would be exceeding handy none the less. i nearly NEVER add "rotation" a clip. but i change opacity all the time. id like to see the opacity motion setting replace rotation up in the default open state of "basic motion".by wayne granzin - FCP Feature Requests project files remember their own individual scratch disc settings - 13 years agomay have mentioned this before but i'll do it agian: - project files remember their own individual scratch disc settings i work on a number of projects at any given time and each project has its own scratch volume. it would be FANTASTIC not to have to remember and to manually change it each time i open a different projectby wayne granzin - FCP Feature Requests Render Notification - 14 years agoi still want a chime to let me know when a renders done...by wayne granzin - FCP Feature Requests Re: HELLA OT - running windows on your production machines - 13 years agoQuoteif you do decide to run Windows then make sure you have the latest Service Pack (SP) installed, run something like SpyBot and if for the love of gawd don't use the internet unless absolutely necessary. The good news is that if you do use a separate drive then your main system drive will not be affected if your Windoze drive gets infected. Hopefully smiling smiley thanks john, thats the kinby wayne granzin - Café LA Re: HELLA OT - running windows on your production machines - 13 years agoQuoteYou can get Quickbooks for the Mac: QBooks 2009 thanks for the link. ive already bought one quickbooks seat. not really wanting to spend more money on a hackneyed-ass software package... thanks for all the help. but can we please stay on track of the original post...?by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: HELLA OT - running windows on your production machines - 13 years agoQuoteI wouldn't consider replacing Quickbooks with an alternative like that in a million years. HA! thats a WHOLE other thread. i have a passionate hate/HATE relationship with quickbooks. and about every similar other (mac and win) solution ive tried...by wayne granzin - Café LA HELLA OT - running windows on your production machines - 13 years agodo any of you run windows (via bootcamp, paralells, or whatever) on your production FCP machines? and if so have you seen any problems? im getting kinda tired of running upstairs to my PC to do quickbooks invoicing and was considering putting it on my octocore. i would probably install a second internal physical drive to serve as my windows drive... would that be smart? admittedly i dontby wayne granzin - Café LA Re: New MB Pro announced at WWDC 13 inches - 13 years agothis sure is going to drive up the value of used MBprosby wayne granzin - Café LA Re: OT: RIP Grasshopper... - 13 years agoQuoteTell that to Bob Crane's family & fans. i dont get it. how does this NOT apply to bob crane?by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: OT: RIP Grasshopper... - 13 years agokinda like mitch hedberg dying of "heart failure". ok, his heart failed. but very likely because of his drug use... people do things and people die. that shouldnt have any effect on what they did before that point.by wayne granzin - Café LA Re: Shot logging on the iphone - 13 years agoQuoteIf you haven't noticed only a very few apps on the app store cost more than $9.99. doesnt matter. the fact that its an "iphone app" should have little bearing on its pricing. its not intended for the "app market" its intended for video professionals who happen to have iphones...
