Re: Resolution Question - 13 years agoCrikey! Well, that settles it then, Graeme. Silly of me not to spot that. Best Harry. (PS. hey guys, is it me, or is this incredibly complicated and full of - like - logarithms and stuff?)by harry323 - Café LA Does your EDIT menu occasionally go AWOL? - 13 years agoI have noticed that, from time to time, my EDIT menu simply isn't there. I don't notice it most of the time, because I'm so grown up that I use keyboard commands. I've trashed prefs endlessly, but it still happens from time to time and, when I need something like PASTE ATTRIBUTES (which I learned in this forum, thank you all) I have to close down and restart. Are they used up in color space? And if that is so, does additional color space add to perceived resolution? Harry The Idiot.by harry323 - Café LA Re: UTTERLY O/T. NEED FILM CUTTING ROOM - 13 years agoDan, Thanks so much for the reply. By coincidence I went round there yesterday afternoon. They are very nice people and it is now "owned" by Ryan Noto who in another coincidence, used to be my client rep at Fotokem. Thanks again. Harryby harry323 - Café LA UTTERLY O/T. NEED FILM CUTTING ROOM - 13 years agoI need a film cutting room for 6-8 weeks for an archiving project, 16 & 35. Need two benches with rewinds and inspection lights and additional gear if possible in both gauges including splits etc. Ground floor (there's a lot of stuff to log) Internet. Secure. Any ideas appreciated. Sorry to post this here, but it's difficult to find film places these days. H.by harry323 - Café LA Re: Multiclip Audio Sync Problem - 13 years agoI eventually got PluralEyes to do all the hard graft for me. Cost about $150 but worth it. Tech support is very good. The guy emailed me back very quickly about 6 times and at last we got it working ok. It takes quite a while to do the work, though. I found it funny at first because it's so vulgar, but now I hear it from everyone. And your suggestion to ban: "sex it up" will surely find no objection. On the other hand, I am fond of the phrase, "add a splash of scotch to my gin". H.by harry323 - Café LA Re: HDV to ProRes422 Render Looks Crappy - 13 years agoHang on ... Jeff ... If what you say is true, Jeff, then I should NOT have seen any improvement. I am using method #1 in your post, as I understand it: Shoot Canon 1080 24f HDV recorded onto a Firestore as QT movies. Download to MacBrain. Plunk this into a ProRes422 timeline. That makes an amazing difference (changing the sequence setting compressor to ProRes). I can't believe it. I have exported yards and yards of material just going through the default Export To Quicktime setting. There oughta be a law 'bout this. Thanks a million, Strypes. I'm truly amazed at the difference in quality. Harry.by harry323 - Café LA Re: HDV to ProRes422 Render Looks Crappy - 13 years agoPlease keep the information coming. Harry.by harry323 - Café LA Re: HDV to ProRes422 Render Looks Crappy - 13 years agoI've been taking HDV - in this case Canon's proprietary 1080f - editing in a Pro Res 422 HQ timeline and rendering out to Quicktime for mastering to tape for broadcast delivery. In my case I have noticed "blocking" which mysteriously appears in the ProRes version and which is not in the original DHV recording. Please let us know when you get to the bottom of this. It seems, per John K. that I can't do an OS9 thing and make a miniature start-up system or partition so, per advice, I will install a dupe system on an external drive and boot from that when I am "Warrioring" my main start-up drive.
