Timecode start time for show. - 17 years agoI want to change the timecode start on this film I'm cutting to make the first frame of the movie start at 01:00:00:00. This means I have to set the timecode to start running at 00:58:20:00 to allow for bars/ident/slug/countdown. So I go to USER PREFS, TIMECODE OPTIONS, and change STARTING TIMECODE to the new number. But when I click OK out of that window, the timecode window at the top left ofby harry323 - Café LA Re: I need white noise sample - 17 years agoThanks a million, guys. Yes. I was looking for Pink noise. But - thanks to your advice - found it at Sounddogs. Best Harryby harry323 - Café LA I need white noise sample - 17 years agoI need a little sample of white noise for a sound effect. My TV is so damn perfect that it refuses to do it when turned to a random frequency and my radio does the same thing. Can anyone out there please help me with a burst of QT nz? Dumb, huh? Best Harry.by harry323 - Café LA Re: Canon And 25f (conundrum) - 17 years agoI'm currently cutting a film shot on Canon XLH1 at 24p. I got it into FCP by playing out of the camera's SDI output and then converting it to DVCProHD in MPEG Streamclip. Excellent quality, plus no hassles of HDV codec. Hope this helps. Harry.by harry323 - Café LA Re: Need something that looks like a satellite feed ident. - 17 years agoThanks a million. Perfect advice. Best wishes and thanks again. Harryby harry323 - Café LA Re: Need something that looks like a satellite feed ident. - 17 years agoNo. I'm not looking for a news alert thingy. Here's what I mean: When, say, CBS, sends something - anything - a piece of newsvideo or a TV show - to, say, a local station somewhere in the Midwest market, they do so via satellite. That "private" transmission begins with an identification slate which has all kinds of technical gobbledygook in it like ... the title, the episode number,by harry323 - Café LA Re: Need something that looks like a satellite feed ident. - 17 years agoI think I can take the information and alter it so that the content is different or junk but that the format is more or less correct without fear. Harryby harry323 - Café LA Need something that looks like a satellite feed ident. - 17 years agoI'm cutting a film in which there is a scene where we see the ident of a satellite feed coming from the West Coast. I'm sure most of you know what I mean ... there are a few seconds of color bars and then a down and dirty identification of where it's coming from or whatever. The the newsflash or program begins. I have YUV component outputs from my Decklink card and I want to play them on a smashing but old Sony monitor which has only RGB input or composite input. Secondly, it's a little late right now and I'll get back to you in the morning - because I have to walk the dog. If you wish, you are welcome to call me at 323 851 2942 and attempt to wake me up in the AM. After about 10am please. (I knew I'd left something out) Michael, if you feel that this merits "tip of the week" treatment, I want to add this essential step to the workflow. best wisby harry323 - Café LA Re: 24f capture via HDSDI from XLH1? - 17 years agoWell, I can drive a car but I don't know how the internal combustion engine works. That being said, I'm cutting an independent feature shot on the XLH1 and I think that I have investigated every workaround there is for getting 24p Canon into FCP. There are others, but this is the fastest for rendering and the best quality. I am using a Blackmagic Deckling HD Pro. It's a bit wierd, but here goes: 1. SDI from camera to B/M card. Set B/M for 59.95 1080 DVC Pro HD 2. Audio from RCA outputs to Mac input. It also made a soft but extremely irritating squeaking or chirruping noise. Initially I attributed this to the hard drives etc etc. Then I read an article on the Apple website about wierd noises coming from G5s. They say it may come from the power supply being faulty in some models and said that you can get a new free power supply from an Apple store if this is so.by harry323 - Café LA Re: Keyboard shortcut for logging? - 17 years agoThank you both very much for your replies. Yes, if I de-delect the clip it goes away, but the squeeze effect on my monitor's picture does not. I have taken your advice and changed the stuff that you mention in the MOTION tab. I have experimented a good deal with the factors that you mention. It looks fine, but I have to deliver a 23.98 finished product. I exported it to Quicktime. The I put it through Cinema Tools and did reverse pulldown to 23.98. I re-imported it into FCP into a 23.98 timeline and rendered. I was told that if you set all your setting to Mac "Internal input" it would work, but so far no luck. Any advice please? Harryby harry323 - Café LA Re: Hopelessly lost in DVCProHD capture - 18 years agoUpdate: I have now managed to capture picture, thanks to advice from Blackmagic, using their "easy setup" "Blackmagic HDTV 1080i59.94 - DVCPRO HD".
