Re: Sync problem with camera files - 14 years agoThanks very much for the information, Andreas. Harry.by harry323 - Café LA Sync problem with camera files - 14 years agoI have some long interview files recorded on a Focus Enhancements FS-C which works with a Canon XL-H1. It's a hard drive recording device and it's always been reliable. On this current job, when I play back a shot which lasts about 6 minutes from the Firestore to the Camera's viewfinder, everything is in perfect sync. But when I download it to my Mac Octo the sound creeps ahead of the videoby harry323 - Café LA Re: Rendering long movies. - 14 years agoBen - I too find that allowing it to render itself on auto-render produces less crashes. I just render as soon as possible and in small chunks. I also find that having a whole bunch of un-rendered stuff in the timeline can cause crashes too. Best Harry.by harry323 - Café LA Re: Rendering long movies. - 14 years agoI personally cancel out of rendering long sequences more frequently - like every 10 minutes and then I SAVE before continuing the render I've been caught out too many times by crashes and freezes during render Best Harry.by harry323 - Café LA Re: Share a shortcut - 14 years ago1. Control B which switches on and off any highlighted area in the timeline. Particularly cool if you turn off, say, one sound effect - then highlight that (OFF) sound effect and an alternative sound effect which is ON. So now one is ON and the other is OFF. Control B will then toggle between the two for comparison. 2. Throw mouse against wall in despair. Hey, Strypes ... You say: "The Canon camera skips lines, resulting in lower than expected resolution" It "skips lines". Wot's that? Thank you, Harry Again.by harry323 - Café LA Re: Question about H.264 - 14 years agoAhhh ... I see. You (dcouzin) have confirmed my fumbling suspicions. So the higher the bitrate the less the compression, I take it? And all this 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 stuff is the allocation of luma and color space and a separate issue from the bit rate. I had previously thought that those 4xx numbers were inextricably linked to the bitrate. Thank you very much for clarifying all this nby harry323 - Café LA Re: Question about H.264 - 14 years agoThanks for the reply, Strypes. So it really is 4:2:0. I have heard of the overheating problem. The whole thing sounds like a pain in the neck to me . Thanks again, Harry.by harry323 - Café LA Question about H.264 - 14 years agoI don't understand. The Canon 5D (and others) use H.264 as an acquisition format, I believe. But I had understood that H.264 is heavily compressed and, presumably, is not 4:2:2 or higher. Correct? Is it 4:2:1 or (gulp) 4:2:0.? Myabe I am bonkers and it is 4:4:4. Nothing would surprise me. It may be that there are different flavors of H.264 that I don't know about, but what I don't get is thby harry323 - Café LA Re: OT: Essential Mac software we couldn't or shouldn't be without... - 14 years agoAll my faves have been mentioned in the thread, but I would like to submit: iZotope Music & Speech Cleaner. $39. Question #1: Will FCP 6.0.6 explode if I attempt to edit in H.264? Question #2: Other than ProRes, is there some other smaller sized format in which I can edit this Tsunami of footage? Since we are still engaged to be married (it's true - see prior posts on this subject) here is my Valentine's Day gift to you: I was looking at a post on "another" FCP board - cries of "shame" - and someone suggested a feature for FCP: It would work like this: Highlight an area in the timeline, hit COMMAND P or something - and FCP spits out a DVD of theby harry323 - Café LA Re: FCP Filters - 14 years agoFor "Men from Mars" read "people talking under water" effect that one can get by overdoing SoundSoap or the noise reduction in Soundtrack Pro. It's very easy to use, does not produce the bubbling effect that one can get with Soundsoap and Soundtrack Pro and its only drawback is that it is not a plug in. I was looking for something quick and easy that did not necessitate firing up ProTools. It's downloadable and works fast. What I mean is this: Imagine that we have series of 10 frames in real camera time. I need to produce this effect, more or less: Frames -- 1 1 1 4 4 4 7 7 7. So one ends up with more or less the same length of shot, buby harry323 - Café LA |
