I've been cross posting this over at Media Composer "Fast Start" the "Beginner" board. Its being bumped up, as perhaps a bug.by Ethan - Avid Media Composer Re: MC 5.5 Can't make a mark in or out from bin. - 10 years agoI'm definitely missing something. I can mark an in and out in "script view" but I cant cut it in. I can then change to "Frame view" and cut in the shot, but not mark it in or out. I can mark a duration in the timeline and then cut it in from "frame view," but it ignores the position of the playhead. I guess I'll try toggling the different ghost/virtual in and oby Ethan - Avid Media Composer MC 5.5 Can't make a mark in or out from bin. - 10 years agoI have enabled edit from bin, in settings, but whenever I hit the mark in or out key's I get the warning beep. Even with a Flattened treatment to the .bt709 footage. It will always pop, because the LUT isn't going to have the reach, because it's bt.709. It will need help 50% of the time or better. Easy peezie, handle in the online. Working with Red and Resolve, I leave the bars in and put my burn-in there. So I always have that reference, and the image can be cropped for a clean frame for a screening.by Ethan - Café LA Re: 4k 1.9:1 - where did I go wrong and what's the best solution - 10 years agoThe Red sensors aren't 16X9 so the original footage isn't 16X9, the camera can be set up to shoot 16X9. It's one of those discussions we are supposed to have with production before they shoot. Technically it's cameras mistake for not working in the appropriate size, but you know how that goes. It will probably work with your drive natively. No import no conversion, you can set it up to use all the FCP commands. I get a bin, and all picture re-links. But some of the second system audio doesn't. The imported MXF Audio is there, it is in the folder where it should be. It really feels random what links and what doesn't. In fact I have 1 clip that is redundant, there is a 117A/1_B.sync.01, and a 117A/1_B.sync.02. There is an mp3 or an aiff file at 44.1khz in a 48khz timeline. Perhaps even the very first bit of audio. Your project will play ok, an exported quicktime will be okay. Because the original source files where named and managed correctly. I always, always, always re-name my clips to reflect the slates. This show was transcoded by a DIT that knew his stuff. Thats why I can use to advantage Resolve, despite most of what resolve rocks at requires CUDA, which Resolve reminds me constantly.
