Re: Voice Over Tool - Sound Cues - 11 years agoTalk about useless. I generally make my own set of beeps because they are so useless. I feel like I figured that out once, but the volume of the beeps couldn't be modified. They where so effing loud compared to the tracks that the actor and I did without. I guess I could have lowered the volume of the system, and then raised the mix master volume. I think the solution is to put your out,by Ethan - Café LA Easy DCP creator, I found this today and thought it was interesting. - 11 years agoThere is also a very amusing short animated video on the history of the mp3, at this site. Has anyone worked with this software yet. I'm worried about trusting it because I'd have no way to check the file.by Ethan - Café LA Re: Burning blu ray - 11 years agoYou can also burn an HD/DVD that is blue ray player compatible-ish. Otherwise you need a blue ray burner. And then I think compressor, or it's one of the FCP share settings for making blue-rays. Check the tutorial section.by Ethan - Café LA Re: DVCPro to AIF interleaved for Channel: How to? - 11 years agoWhat about a wave file, is there a way to do this creating a wave file?by Ethan - Café LA Re: Fair and Balanced review: FCP X - great or not? - 11 years agoHopefully lightworks will keep us from having to go back to pc.by Ethan - Café LA - X Re: aatranslator and fcp x - 11 years agoThis software sounds amazing. It looks as if it can make a pro- tools session from an XML. I really think you need to Demo this software at the next lafcpug meeting. Even Pre X integration, this looks like an awesome tool.by Ethan - Café LA - X Re: Eye spy Kona drivers...... - 11 years agoI really don't understand this, hasn't Matrox already marketed a Thundbolt adapter for their line?by Ethan - Café LA - X Re: SWF from fcp on location - 11 years agoI made a post about a month ago about a free utility I found that works great. I'll look for the link again. The program is called VideoVangelist.by Ethan - Café LA P2 footage in L&T won't transcoder into ProRes - 11 years agoIm working on a project shot on both the panasonic hvx, and DSLRs. I want to transcode the 720p P2 footage to ProRes on ingest. L&T has a preference setting for doing that. I seem to remember doing it once, but now I set the preference to ProRes, and the footage keeps coming in as DVCPro. What am I missing?by Ethan - Café LA Re: AVC-Intra on FCP 6.0.6 Question - 11 years agoPerhaps I'm misunderstanding the problem. Cant you select multiple numbered folders and import via L&T. I don't think you need to select the stream itself, just the folder name something like 0004fg8.by Ethan - Café LA Re: Is there anywhere you can still get the Avid $995 deal? - 11 years agoYep, the guys over at the Avid community board turned me onto them, and I bought it. The last time I bought from them I bought Premeire and the origional Miro card. Apparently they've got discounted Premeire too until the 30th.by Ethan - Café LA - X Re: Is there anywhere you can still get the Avid $995 deal? - 11 years agoThanks, I registered and posted.by Ethan - Café LA - X Re: In truth what we have here is a classic example of "New Coke." - 11 years agoOld coke was taken off the market, and caused a huge rush on old coke, hoarding even. Sales went through the roof. People bought new coke too, lots more sales. Old coke is brought back, except reformulated with corn syrup. Much cheaper to produce, bigger profits, and so much publicity. And people cheered the return of the inferior product. If I'm actually talking about the cans, then I'd sby Ethan - Café LA - X Is there anywhere you can still get the Avid $995 deal? - 11 years agoIf I have to completely re-train myself, then avid makes more sense. Oh to be able to export a change list. I know FCP is supposeed to have done this through, the film list thing, but I confess to never getting it to work correctly.by Ethan - Café LA - X Re: In truth what we have here is a classic example of "New Coke." - 11 years agoLJ, you can't give a brother a shout out when you appropriate his meme?by Ethan - Café LA - X In truth what we have here is a classic example of "New Coke." - 11 years agoLike FCP Express or was it LE, a dead variation. It will become imovie.by Ethan - Café LA - X Re: Anybody have my bugs. - 11 years agoYep saw the sticky, months ago. I've just had these other problems from the get go and thought they might be related. I may have a hardware problem either with the drives or the slots they plug into. It's looking un related to whatever the inconsistency in my machine is that makes it choke on the prokit update.by Ethan - Café LA Anybody have my bugs. - 11 years agoI'm just curious how many of the bugs in my machine, are shared. 1. Prokit 6.0.2 update Kills my FCPS, after install I can only open 1 app at a time one time. And when it opens I mustn't change focus or do anything until the software is open. When I add additional internal drives I get these problems: 2. With more then my system drive in, the app store wont work and crashes. 3. Witby Ethan - Café LA Free Flash Converter - 11 years agoI dont own CS3 and Im always hampered by clients and retarded dumb***t web monkeys, that want stuff in flash. Imho the webmonkeys should do this because they are designing the page and know what size everything is going to be, and how it will fit together, or they dont know and might want to change things as they go. Anyway here's a free flash converter and it seems to work.by Ethan - Café LA Asst. Editor position, low pay - 11 years agoFeature documentary. Send resume and cover letter to Ethan.editor@yahoo.com.by Ethan - Jobs Multiple resolutions in doc (situation normal) best reolution to edit at. - 11 years agoThe doc is being shot with an HVX as a main camera at 720p, and then DSLRs shooting 1080. Everything is 23.98. Except timelapse shots and other in-camera tricks. My first intuition is make all the timelines 720p as the smaller image will make for shorter renders, and smaller files. The DP has consulted around and he tells me the consensus is 1080p, and scratch make it all good. I put it tby Ethan - Café LA Re: Flicker free titles and scrolling text? - 11 years agoHere is some love on that. The matching frame rates for scan lines is important, but... You can also export as a tif sequence and re-import that tiff sequence. The titles wont strobe, they might jitter a little but on the whole they will look a lot better.by Ethan - Café LA Re: HD DVD on DVD-R that plays in Blueray - 12 years agoCorrection Ken Stone article :by Ethan - DVD Studio Pro Re: HD DVD on DVD-R that plays in Blueray - 12 years agoI found the Larry Jordan article, but it seems to me that I was doing something a little more manual. I might have been compressing in compressor and then using another app to make a "BR DVD-R"by Ethan - DVD Studio Pro HD DVD on DVD-R that plays in Blueray - 12 years agoI'm fairly certain, I've made a high def DVD-R that played in my Sony Blue-ray player. I can't remember what the magic sauce was though. When I make a HD DVD using compressor and DVDSP it won't play because it's the lost format. Can any one think of what I might have done in the past? Any psychics out there, or just the same old Psychotics?by Ethan - DVD Studio Pro Re: So Motion 5 then - 12 years agoIt's been my understanding that since shake Is dead that it will be inorporated into motion. (totally unsubstantiated pablum) I've got a doc coming up, and so I'd like to see more meaningful traffic here as well.by Ethan - Motion Security burn in AFTER, mpeg compression? - 12 years agooops I forgot to make some sort of title/security burn-in before I started a 6 hour cook in to mpeg file for DVD. What is the best way to add something after the fact? Compressor? or some other utility?by Ethan - Café LA Prep for Color Correction. (non-standard worflow) - 12 years agoThe show was shot mostly with a sony camera in HDV, some of it was shot with an HVX200. Everything was trans-coded to ProRes. Colorist originally asked for an uncompressed file in a FCP timeline, that had been notched. (the edits between the original files re-created as splices in the uncompressed file.)
