Re: Lacie d2 Big Disk Extreme Data Recovery... - 17 years agoI had to get professional help after a drive overheated and took the G5 with it. This was an internal but it is scary. If you get it sorted I for one would love to know how you did it. Good Luck...philby Phil UK - Café LA using chapter markers (FCP to IDVD) - 17 years agoHi Y'all, I just want to create chapters on a frinds showreel (DV Cam on FCP 3.02) for it to go to IDVD 5 so that he can navigate through the various sections of the reel. I have tried HELP and it seems vague and long winded. What is the simple way to do this? Thanks again...Phil UKby Phil UK - Café LA Re: Slow motion... - 17 years agoThanks guys but I don't know what Twixter is, is it a plug in? Everything is rendered correctly. Slow motion effects with video are always a problem no matter what editing software you use - there is a clash of fields, a friend of mine who used to work on Discreet edit for the X Files pointed that out to me. He said remove a field but that is illegal. It does not happen all the time but judderingby Phil UK - Café LA Re: is it bad to have internal scratch disks? - 17 years agoHow do you get on the subject of pets? This is not funny...the machine went suddenly...and that was that...no warning no nothing.by Phil UK - Café LA Re: Uncompressed 4:2:2 8 bit - 17 years agoMake sure audio/video playback is none/built in audio. Make sure (if you are using a firewire external that is is firewire 800 - do you have a disk speed test with your capture card? 300mb/per sec is totally fine. It should not change for playback or capture. Good luck..by Phil UK - Café LA copy/paste 1 audio track - 17 years agoI have a master that for some reason is mono. When I place media in timeline, although the audio tracks one and two look fine - it's mono. Can I take one audio track - copy and paste it to make a stereo pair? If so (I know this has been mentioned) how do I break the link of the audio tracks to double one track up to make it stereo? I hope that is clear...thanks y'all...Phil UKby Phil UK - Café LA Re: G% on Tiger 10.4.3 down!!! - 17 years agoThanks guys..death is the operative word...that G5 is dead and gone and took thousands of pounds worth of After effects projects with it. The G5 had an internal Video RAID installed by one of the few FCP workstation supplyers. The computer is dead and it was an hardware issue.by Phil UK - Café LA Re: Uncompressed 4:2:2 8 bit - 17 years agoYour disk speed/data rate is miles too slow - you could try changing the audio/video settings from uncompressed 8 bit to none/built in audio. BUT, your disk is too slow, it should be at leat 70 mb/per sec ideally around 120 mb/per sec. I had similar problems until I got a RAID that passed the Blackmagic speed test. Phil UKby Phil UK - Café LA Re: Fields Vs Progressiv - 17 years agoI cut stuff and it goes into after effects using de interlace setting, put it back into FCP and edit to tape via decklink. If there are problems I use FCP's video filters and it cleans up flicker, motion blur and looks very good. I don't know if this is any use but check it out.by Phil UK - Café LA Re: new instalation, no video signal - 17 years agoNo, I just upgraded to FCP 5.1 - the speed test runs fine but in FCP 5.1 I do not get a video input into Log and capture. It is set up for Blackmagic 8 bit. I've de installed and installed, restarted etc..nothing...I should have waited and kept 4.5 on the computer...at least that all woked fine. There is phone number for Blackmagic support in UK..I'm in trouble man...HELP...thanks Johnby Phil UK - Café LA G5 single dual core/FCP 5 and HD - 17 years agoMy company is buying a G5 dual core 2.5 for working with HDV/HD...I believe it is just the single dual core and will this be OK to run normal FCP 5 using HDV? I have heard that there is various extra costs and updates incured for those of us with 1 year old Apple software (FCP/Motion etc...)by Phil UK - Café LA loading HD/HDV with firewire without Blackmagic decklink - 17 years agoIs it true you can load HDV via firewire without a Blackmagic decklink or AJA kona? The card is already capable w/ FCP 4.5/5by Phil UK - Café LA Re: Resumes? - 17 years agoHi Charles, do you have any broadcast experience? I know thats the question every young editor hates but if you do list it with dates. If not, list the work you have done. A single page will do as employers are usually able to make a decision on just a couple of paragraphs. In just a few words tell them you are the man. The fight is on Charles and without discouraging you it takes an average of fby Phil UK - Café LA 16 by 9 matte/crop?? - 18 years agoI have a short doc that is shot 4 by 3 and I want to put a 16:9 letterbox on it. Do I nest then crop? I recall perhaps it was Derek, had the mathmatical equations to do a 16 by 9 Matte? Thanks...if you are in LA, where are the Le Brea tarpits and what are they exactly and I don't care if this is an unrelated subject....I love LA, never seen the tarpits though...Phil UKby Phil UK - Café LA |
