Re: OT: WE'RE BACK! - 13 years agoLove this new layout. its nice and clean and more user friendly.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: OT. This wouldn't be possible if it weren't for LAFCPUG. - 13 years agoSpectacular. I love that trailer. I think thats gonna go BIG. I hope you have big pockets JC cause your gonna need them.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: FCP in the workplace. - 13 years agoQuotederekThe smart producers also tend to realize that hiring good talent saves you money in the short run. Hiring a low-priced hack will lead to much larger problems, including lost money, time, confidence, and in some cases even technical catastrophes. It's the low-end projects where producers pinch pennies and hire the wrong people. Is there a most accepted version?by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: XML version 1-4 - 13 years agoi just wanted to be clear that i know what each one includes. I am looking for usage reasons.by J.Corbett - Café LA XML version 1-4 - 13 years agoIn fcp when you export an xml you get a choice of 4 versions. It defaults to version 4. but this version does some weird stuff when imported to premier. like imports a seemingly nested seq along with the clips. I don't often edit in premier i just use it as a pass-thru. I use version 1 to go to AE w/ .jsx. However, i have no idea what the differences are. So what is the differencby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: A Difference in Signal on Monitors / TV's - 13 years agoi did. i even shook and kicked it. hahahahahahaby J.Corbett - Café LA A Difference in Signal on Monitors / TV's - 13 years agoIf you are watching a movie on a HDTV (cable), i know that the video is normally progressive. If you watch a dvd of that same movie on the same tv its still progressive but seemingly at a higher clarity. If you rip the dvd and put it in fcp, and use the hdtv as a monitor there is a lesser quality that the previous 2 examples. so my question is, other than compression, what is the differencby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Happy 4th of July, folks! - 13 years agoeat 10,000 calories while watching John Adams (the movie). get drunk with a family member who you think drinks to much. try some physical activity that you haven't done in 15 years twist an ankle. and wake up with a hang over and an ace bandage wrap around your ankle, thats way too tight. Then tell everyone how your not drinking, eating, or trying to play soccer again. HAVE Fby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Crashing Arrangement - 13 years agono i haven't tried that but i will today. Tom It only crashes in that configuration. In all other window configuration it is 100% stable. I can edit in Two-Up and never close FCP for say 3 days and it will not crash. Then when i switch to TallB, it will crash within 5min.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Output a stereo track to mono - 13 years agostrypes, you are like a goodie box that keeps getting bigger. That is a very excellent way to handle the audio. I dont do out-to very much but i had never looked in the options for audio in fcp that much. NICEby J.Corbett - Café LA Crashing Arrangement - 13 years agoI have a window arrangement called 'TallB'. I use to use it a lot but i started noticing that FCP behaves differently in this config. i get more stutters and a bunch of really small hick-ups. Now it crashes in this configuration. Has anyone experienced this? Here is a shot of the config.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Output a stereo track to mono - 13 years agoor simply use 1 zero panned track in fcp. look at the wave one is bigger than the other. use the big one by deleting the other smaller wav track.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Output a stereo track to mono - 13 years agoOut put to self contained QT Import to STP (sound track pro) Export a mono file.by J.Corbett - Café LA Refreshing Bin Content - 13 years agoIf you drag a folder into the browser from say HDD1 and then later add to the folder on HDD1 (but not the browser) is there a way to refresh the content of the folder in fcp? So the new content would now be in the browser bin.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: The Right Way - A Test Project - 13 years agoi would like to refer back to strypes last post..... and endorse it.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: The Right Way - A Test Project - 13 years agoHere is something crazy. the 23.98 frame rate is coming from my HMC when set to 720p24. Why is that? i thought it was just 24fps.by J.Corbett - Café LA Smart Reporter HDD monitor - 13 years agoI was look for something to scan or monitor my hdd to some what predict the degradation of the HDD. I am thinking of SmartReporter. I have had 2 Failures in the last year. And i Think i am noticing some ever so gentle signs of another. Has any one used a software HDD diagnostic of this type?by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: Need help with audio please. - 13 years agoclick on the audio track do an option-L keyboard cmd click off of the audio track click on the fat lined track hit cmd-X click the other track hold option & shift and drag the track to the place where the deleted track was double click the track and load into the viewer click the other tab with the audio description and lower the track to -2 drag a marque over the 2 aby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: The Right Way - A Test Project - 13 years agoQuoteNickhowever, if the clips are for overlay only, simply using Cinema Tools to "Conform" the frame rate to a standard is very quick and effective. the clips play faster or slower depending on the before and after frame rates, but its frame-for-frame, so no frame-weirdness. I kinda do not want a speed change. Will any conforming i do in CTools change the speed? I will probably usby J.Corbett - Café LA Re: The Right Way - A Test Project - 13 years agoIs there something i can buy that will allow me to see more clip info? maybe something that can analyze a batch? automator function maybe? That has always bothered me about finder when browsing a clip.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: The Right Way - A Test Project - 13 years agoI capture to a folder with avc and fcp for everything else. This fcp capture normally goes to the projects capture scratch folder. However, finder doesn't tell me frame rate. So I normally put the clips in fcp so i can see the asset info. This where is how I judge what to convert. I dont know if there is a better way to see that frame rate info without fcp.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: The Right Way - A Test Project - 13 years agooh here is why i would convert to 720p30 or 720p24 (prores HQ). Mainly the frame rate, there are a lot of 24fps and 23 fps. I dont like to have many interpolated frames. Bring 24p up to 30p is only 6-ish frames interpolated per sec. 24p is only 1.2-ish per 2sec when converted from 23.98PAL.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: The Right Way - A Test Project - 13 years agooh i also do not capture for the edit. I capture to leave the video as it was recorded, and then use compressor. Not sure if this makes a difference in the edit.by J.Corbett - Café LA Re: The Right Way - A Test Project - 13 years agoThe object of this is not that i need training. It is simply the closest way for me to see how different my workflow is from the industry, which is often not exactly text book from things i have read. what i would normally do is convert all but 2 of these clips to 720p30 or 720p24 in compressor. (i hardly ever get request for a particular codec) Then open a new project and set the TL for 7by J.Corbett - Café LA The Right Way - A Test Project - 13 years agoI have 3days on my hands with not much to do accept bug my crew. So while i wait for the footage from the shoots i thought i would try this. I often give advice that some might term as not the best way. So to clear up some things i have taken screenshots of my assets and current settings. All i am trying to do is understand what the industry or big-time way of prep'ing a project for a smooth eby J.Corbett - Café LA |
